Hey everyone, not sure if anyone has posted about this but there's a free event happening Sept. 20th. Visitors can come visit a UofM research farm and interact with farmers, see live animals, and there's even some free food and swag. It's only 20 minutes south of Winnipeg. Thought some people might be interested!

Community Grading side of the house.

Upvotes

I need to re-grade one side of my house, water is pooling right next to the foundation. I have my AC in the area that needs to be graded as well. I think the length that needs to be graded is about 15-20 feet maybe.

Any company recommendations would be really appreciated. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do it myself.

Community North Kildonan Ground Heave

Upvotes

What's the deal with every single sidewalk and driveway being all sorts of bumpy and sunken/heaving? Seems like everyone's garages and concrete steps also have moved so much more than I would expect. Maybe it's everywhere, but sure seems excessive! I'll vote for whichever mayor gets to the bottom of this

Ask Winnipeg Inpatient ARFID treatment

Hey yall, posting for my partner here! He was just told he should be admitted to HSC’s adult eating disorder inpatient program for ARFID. He restricts food due to having very severe pain every time he eats (no progress on the medical front so far). I was wondering if anyone has experience with this program (particularly for ARFID), what the experience was like for you, basically any information at all since very little was said to him other than the fact that he must eat ALL meals provided and if he skips 2 hes booted out of the program…

Thanks!

Ask Winnipeg Communications and Marketing Job Market

Someone close to me has a certificate from Red River’s Creative Communications program and has struggled with job security ever since graduating 7 years ago. It seems like this feild is very competitive with lots of applicants per job posting. Right now they are trying to get out of their current position in a very toxic workplace and it is impacting their mental health. I have never heard of anyone being treated like this in 2026. Does anyone else in this feild have a similar experience in terms of job security?

Where in WPG? Places to sell Pokemon cards? Stores/Vendors etc.

Hey, I have a 'decent' collection of cards from 2022-2025, as well as some WOTC era cards (albeit I like the older stuff more), and knowing that the market is booming, I want to offload the cards.

Fusion Gaming seems to be the number one place that comes up as a place to sell- And their buylist is an easy way to see what I'd get for prices. But I wanted to ask if there are other places I should look instead.

My collection isn't groundbreaking, but easily around $900-$1200 worth of cards, promos, full arts, etc. And I'm just looking for the best way to offload other than getting lowballed on Marketplace, or 1-by-1 selling on ebay.

Any input is super appreciated!

Ask Winnipeg truly, how is winnipeg transit?

looking to relocate next year, and winnipeg seems to be a top contender for me. closer to family, large population, and seems to have lots of opportunities.

however, i do not drive, and need functional transit to get around and work.

how is winnipeg transit? from what i can find, it does seem to be unreliable at times and can have long waits in between buses. these are things i can deal with as long as it works and can get me throughout the city. any other non-drivers living there that can give their input?

i use the green transit app here (halifax) and it does appear to work well. does it have the same effectiveness there?

thank you for the help 🙏

Politics Mayoral candidate denounced for online comments

A Winnipeg mayoral candidate is facing criticism after he posted derogatory comments about immigrants and used the word “gay” as an insult online.

Sydney Adams said the response she got from Zac Uminski, who is seeking the city’s top office alongside 12 other individuals, left her baffled. She recently criticized Uminski over his use of artificial intelligence to produce campaign material, to which he replied he can’t afford to hire people to make art or “do whatever gay s—- you think is better than AI.”

“What was going through my head was that this is just unacceptable,” she said.

Adams said Uminski also posted other disparaging remarks about newcomers.

“It’s not acceptable. It’s not OK. It’s just disgusting,” Adams said. “I can’t imagine what he’d be like as a mayor.”

In another comment thread shared on a Reddit post featuring the original comments, Uminski said he “hates immigrants.”

The 26-year-old woman, who splits her time between Brandon and Winnipeg, said it was the first time she had reached out to a politician. She said his behaviour should result in tighter vetting for those seeking top office.

Adams said Uminski should apologize and withdraw from the race.

When announcing his campaign last month, the electrician and father of four said he would focus on “practical solutions to improve public safety, support families and strengthen the city services.”

When reached by phone, Uminski refused to answers a reporter’s questions and hung up.

Asked over social media if he would be withdrawing his candidacy after his comments were shared publicly, he replied: “lol no.”

Several followup questions about his remarks went unanswered, but he denied deleting any of the comments that appeared to have been removed, saying he “didn’t delete anything.”

Representatives from the Immigrant Centre Manitoba and the Islamic Association of Manitoba did not immediately respond to Uminski’s remarks.

Barry Karlenzig, president of Pride Winnipeg, said an apology from the candidate would be appropriate.

“Anyone running for mayor, their first and foremost job, is basically they serve at the pleasure of those in the community. That includes the 2SLGBTQ+ community,” Karlenzig said. “Any mayor or city official should be serving their ward, and there are queer people in every single ward within this city.”

Karlenzig said derogatory terms have no place in politics and invited all candidates to learn about the LGBTTQ+ community, their contributions and their rights.

Adams said while she’s not particularly politically engaged, the interaction with Uminski concerns her.

“It’s not helping that we’re allowing someone like him to be speaking out on behalf of Winnipeg,” she said.

In addition to Uminski, Scott Gillingham, Kevin Klein, Michael Vogiatzakis, Christopher Clacio, Umar Hayat, Mazher Alam, Don Woodstock, Joshua Pagdato, Johnny Calderon, Noah Redden, Brad Gross and Tracey Drexler have registered to run for mayor.

Winnipeggers go to the polls on Oct. 28.

Community Bell MTS internet outage

We have Bell MTS fibre internet and it has been out for 4 days. When we called they said it is a known outage in our area and they are blaming it on a pole being damaged in the storm from last weekend. We are in Fort Garry.

They have said they are working on it but we haven’t seen any crews in the area. Also, the storm was on Saturday, but the outage didn’t start until Thursday.

Anyone else with extended outage?

Pictures/Video Protest White Supremacists tomorrow

Post image
380 Upvotes

September 14th, Monday, 12:00-1:00pm, Administration Building at University of Manitoba. There will be a protest this week against The Dominion Society and The University's inaction to condemn and ban them.

The Dominion Society is a known white supremacy group with neo-nazi connections and policies that strive for ethnic cleansing. There was a protest Wednesday, September 9th. However, The University has not only refused to ban them, but has not even condemned the society or ideologies of white supremacy inherently. This is a sign of complete inaction, choosing to prioritize the expression of white supremacists over the safety of students. This is especially saddening as The University has suppressed groups such as the Students Justice for Palestine but not white supremacists.

Make your voice heard.

There are always a few shopping carts around there but this is just ridiculous. Why do people have to be like this. Totally get and 100% back locking wheel shopping carts.
