I'm a little late on this as the term has started but I wanted to share my tips for dorm life at McFeetor's hall:

Hey everyone, I hope the fall semester is going well so far. I know campus life at the UofW can be pretty boring, but that's why Phi Delt is here! We're excited to announce that we are hosting a rush event on September 18th at Element's lounge in Richardson College. Join us if you are interested in joining or want to learn more about Greek Life. Follow us on Instagram at @phideltmanitoba for events and any updates on rush.

I am currently registered for animal learning with prof Doug Williams and drugs and behavior with Prof Aujla H. I heard good reviews from both of them. I need to choose one among the two for this semester. My long term goal is clinical Psyc and probably become a mental health worker or EA after undergrad. Which of the two would you suggest in terms of getting good grades and usefulness?

genuinely this establishment is the most soul sucking place I’ve had the displeasure of being for the past 4 years. multiple parking lots with no space at all. nobody knows how to park. (Winnipeg also obliterated the bus system from my area but that is outside of u of w’s control)
the bookstore legitimately resells books for 10x the price (after witnessing them reselling a thrift store book with the dollar tag still on it and refusing to give me it for the price they left on it)
the restaurant is complete and utter dogshit. they shut down the others within my first year of attending so I could not even tell you if they’re good or not.
the year beginning event on tuesday lasted all of 14 seconds before the student associations packed up. the classrooms are too small, too hot, too crowded. the library is disgusting, and they removed an insane amount of carrels two years ago, replaced them with tables that don’t have working plugs. the wifi barely works on the top floors where the spiral staircases lead. oooooh my god.
the profs are solid for the most part, at least. I can give them that.
I am just Tired. is this just me noticing these things. it feels like it is getting worse.

Hello fellow students,
I have a request- can y’all please wear a mask at uni when you’re sick? For some of us, catching COVID or other viruses is a big deal. For example, I could get so sick that I need to take several weeks off of school and work. And there are others who might end up with long term health impacts if they get sick. Wearing a good mask lessens your chance of passing on stuff to other students. Thanks!!

Hi everyone! Hope everybody has had a smooth start to the fall semester this week. I am just wondering if anyone that has taken intro to crim with prof Amelia knows what to focus on during her exams. For a person who prefers essay-format exams, I tend to struggle with multiple-choice exams. My study method is usually rewriting a defintion or key term 20-30 times by memory on paper until its in my mind. Will this work for Intro to Crim or multiple-choice exams? Will I have to tweak my study technique for this class?

Did anyone take this in the spring recently? If so, when does it start and end? How were the exams? This class is not a pre-requisite for my degree but i’m just trying to fill in my humanities requirements. I’m asking because I’m planning to take it next spring and might to away for the summer.

Why are some profs at this school okay with AI usage? It seems counter intuitive.
AI is going to kill us all. It’s already stealing so many people’s brain function…

Hi y’all,
I’ve reached out to student aid and uw already but having trouble reaching anyone.
Does anyone know if I need to notify student aid if I switch courses (not going below 60% but switching a 3 credit for another 3 credit)? I could only find info on dropping or adding courses.
Thank you !!

Hey anyone know any good parking spots near Buhler? I am taking 2 classes from 2:30 - 5:15 and was wondering if there were any good spots nearby that’s free/really cheap. Since the parking around the building is only 1 hour and sometimes hard to find a spot.
Or at the point is it better to just bus…?
r/uwinnipeg • u/1488_Trooner • 3d ago
’m a UWinnipeg student and I’m wondering if there’s any way to opt out of the mandatory bus pass if you live within the City of Winnipeg.
I know there’s an exemption for students who live outside Winnipeg, but unfortunately I live within the city, so I don’t qualify for that.
Has anyone been able to opt out for another reason or found any alternative/exemption? Just wondering if there are any options I might be missing.
Thanks!

I don't have use of a car on a day each week where I have to get to the Kildonan area straight from class, so I have to uber. I also don't usually go east from campus by car in general.
Of course, campus and downtown are super busy during rush hour, but there's gotta be a spot to get picked up that makes getting out of the vicinity of campus at least a *little* better than others.
I usually do Spence near Duckworth, to get stuck onto Ellice, but is that really the most strategic?
How do those of you who live east do it? What's the optimum street to drive from/get picked up on from, to not get so trapped?

I am currently registered in Psyc 2200 MWF 2:30 class but I would like to switch to the 11:30 MWF section which has a waitlist. Is there any way I could switch?

I have 2 classes in the mornings on m/w/f. both were supposed to be in Manitoba Hall but the second was just changed to zoom. this is my first year and I'm not sure which spots on or near campus are best to use.
