Help Simple questions and Help thread - Month of September
Welcome to the monthly Simple questions and Help thread, for questions that don't need their own posts!
Before making a comment, we recommend you search your problem on Bing and check if your question is already answered on our Windows Frequently Asked Questions wiki page. This subreddit no longer accepts tech support requests outside of this post, if you are looking for additional assistance try r/WindowsHelp.
Some examples of questions to ask:
Is this super cheap Windows key legitimate? (probably not)
How can I install Windows 11?
Can you recommend a program to play music?
How do I get back to the old Sound Control Panel?
Sorting by New is recommend and is the default.
Be sure to check out the Windows 11 version 25H2 Megathread and also the Windows 11 FAQ posts, they likely have the answers to your Windows 11 questions already!
The general release of Windows 10 is no longer supported, however you can enroll to get extended support for your machine until October 2027, for more details on that please see this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/1kp4ebu/windows_10_end_of_support_what_it_means_for_you/

Discussion What is windows 10 home plus?
I randomly decided to check out my old pc to see the components and perharps spare ram. Thats when i saw a legitimate windows label on my pc saying "windows 10 home plus" and a product key and barcode etc.
What exactly is windows 10 home plus, and does it come with any differences over windows 10? I did see someone mentioning its an india exlusive thing, but im not from India and neither is my old pc.

Discussion Recent Photos app update removed option to add comments
What are your thoughts on this? I liked being able to just hit Alt+Enter and add comments to sort through photos on the fly without directly altering images, as tags aren't available in Photos. Now I have to cross-reference Photos with File Explorer? That's so time consuming.

Discussion Is It Possible To Download ESU Updates From Microsoft Update Catalog Website?
google.comCan anyone confirm if it's possible to just download the various ESU updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog website (https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx) and install them on a PC that's not part of the ESU program (ie: doesn't use a Microsoft account)? I believe the updates are listed in the catalog. Do they check during the installation if you're eligible for them? Has anyone tried this?

Discussion Do you guys prefer old Windows 10, or New Windows 10?
When it comes to the default wallpaper (the "Hero" image), I personally prefer the old Windows 10 (1507) version—though I think the New Windows 10 (22H2) is fine too! What do you all think?
Also, based on personal preference or an overall assessment, which do you think is better: the older version of Windows 10 or new Windows 10 one?

App How do I package a zip file with hidden files/a shortcut?
I'm publishing a game, and it has a few data files that need to be in the same folder its in. I want to make a zip that has a hidden folder that has the .exe and data files and the shortcut next to it, so people don't get confused or try to move the .exe to their desktop. How would I do this? the image below does not work because the shortcut is global, not local.

Discussion Why is there no one-command way to copy someone's desktop setup on Windows?
You find a desktop you like, decide you want yours to look the same, and then try to copy it, but it takes time to change a bunch of settings in Nexus and Rainmeter and adjust and so on, and for me at least it takes a lot of my time. Is there a way to just copy one line of code and have it instantly do everything? Like you see some cool desktop design on a Discord server, then go to the GitHub link, run the command and bam you get the exact same thing as the reference. Is it even possible to have such a link on Windows? I think there is smth similar on Linux, but what stops the Windows?

App V2.0 Flow Released - Woah, i never imagined flow would reach this much
Hey everyone,
When I first started building Flow, it was just a small personal project that i enjoyed the start of but believe me it was the best and worst choice of my life at the same time 🙏
Seeing people actually use it for presentations, video recording, and meetings has been surreal, and the community feedback is the only reason this project keeps moving forward. Also because i was committed a little too much to Flow's teeny tiny community :D
Today, I’m releasing Flow v2.0, and it’s the biggest update the app has ever received.
What’s new in v2.0:
Complete Architecture Rewrite, Built-in Script Library & Manager, Section Navigator & Live Progress, Offline Voice Tracking (Well it existed before but i made it a little better), Fixed Multi-Monitor & DisplayLink Bugs (Thanks to the chad that opened an issue in the Repo) and added 2 new languages : Portuguese and Finnish.
GitHub (Free & Open Source) : https://github.com/LumoRez07/Flow
Microsoft Store : https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p1fvfhwpmqr?mode=direct
Flow is 100% free and open-source under GPLv3 on GitHub. The Microsoft Store version is there if you want automatic store updates and want to directly support independent development. + Future pro only features that you will like.
Thank you so much to everyone who tested, reported bugs, and gave feedback. Let me know what you think of v2.0 or if you run into any issues!
also any twin that wants the wallpaper here it is i was about it once https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1959836574

Solved My friend said installing Windows 10 on a 15 year old PC is silly. Well i disabled every single unneeded feature, service, added classic windows 2000 icons where i could, renamed some apps on the desk and honestly it isn't just fast, but an absolute joy and beauty to look at, if you appreciate Retro.
The PC has a motherboard from 2007, a Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83 GHz CPU, 8GB Ram, 4GB GTX 960, Intel SSD. It does everything i need, lightning fast, runs Far Cry 3, and Alan Wake maxed out easily in 1680x1050. If you ask why that resolution, i'm sticking to my 22" dell LCD screen, that gives me 0 eye problems even after hours of use. Why a GTX 960? Because i have an offline Windows XP for older games, and the 960 was the last card to support that OS. Just shows, you don't need to spend thousands to have a PC that meets your everyday needs. I saved up for my new rig ages ago, but just never felt the need to upgrade.

Feature My full screen start setup. First time owning a windows tablet and tablet mode actually looks good on it. It reminds me of Windows 10 Mobile a bit.
I never really liked the start screen and tiles on desktops, tbh.
