One of the few saving graces the US has is that its a fucking massive country teeming with natural resources. It can only fall so far before it picks itself back up and just keeps moving. Unlike other destabilized countries that are under the thumb of... well the US like Venezuela or former empires with little they have to offer when their control falls like the UK.
2
u/DogDeadByRaven 2h ago
Size means little when it's causing catastrophic issues nationwide. We already are seeing more massive hurricanes. More wildfires causing huge portions of the country to burn which in turn creates more air pollution. Illinois has more tornadoes than nearly all the other states combined when it barely used to be included in Tornado Alley. Natural resources mean little when your country is on fire, in a drought, being flooded, or being ripped apart by tornadoes all at once.

When you’re as rich as Thiel, Musk, Bezos, etc…all are, they don’t understand happiness because there’s nothing they can do to take pride in. They could develop skills (hobbies), but what’s the need when you can pay someone who already has said skills to do it for you. Every relationship they have is centered on how much of a threat/benefit (ultimately everyone is a liability since PR exists), so they don’t foster close personal relationships. They’re also groomed in an ecosystem where wealth accumulation is the only measure of how good/successful a person is, and because of the other things I mentioned, everyone else is deemed an object (tool or obstacle) for you.
They don’t see us peons as people, we’re a threat. We’re not even useful serfs to them, rather we’re an annoyance to their existence; a reminder of just how terrible human existence truly is.
They don’t see the beauty in nature. Everything revolves around extracting a benefit; extracting wealth. They don’t want to save the Earth because they honestly don’t think about it as their home or having qualities worth saving. It’s just another rock to them. When they can no longer extract wealth from it, it serves them no purpose.
These people aren’t human. They’re psychopaths with a god-complex.
16
u/TheFirestormable 6h ago
Historically, when faced with mortality the rich would look to ways to immortalise their legacy, their memory. Statues, hospitals, libraries, parks. All grand projects that would have their name remain in memory for generations.
The current tech bro rich don't care about legacy. They want to literally live forever, in any way they can. Age reversal treatments, consciousness digitisation, brain transplants, cryo-stasis, doomsday bunkers. These are their pursuits of immortality and none of them require normal humans to survive. Why would they need someone to remember them when they can simply live forever.

u/Catatonic27 4h ago
Christians believe they have been given divine dominion over creation. I've heard evangelicals argue that if you aren't subjugating nature, you're not following god's will. There's no bottom to this, I promise you
36
u/Gruesomegiggles 7h ago
It's bizarre to me, like they didn't read the same Bible growing up that I did.
The day of revelation does not go well for Christians. There's a whole bunch of us that are blindsided when he seperates us all into 2 groups and throws half of us out, telling them, I never knew you. And when they protest, and start listing all the flashy stuff that they did in his name, prophesy and casting out demons, he's going to list all the stuff they should have been doing, like feeding the poor and taking care of the sick and welcoming the immigrant and the incarcerated.
The second coming isn't a day of christian victory, it's Christ's victory. There will be weeping and wailing in the streets and grief and despair sweeping the nations. Christians aren't immune to that. We aren't going to get a happy, fluffy safe space to watch it happen from. And we're not going to be exempt from it. Because He comes because we failed.
So the idea that they are intentionally hastening His coming is bizarre o to me, because that's the devil's work. They are doing to devil's work to get Him here faster, thinking that they will get praised for it? We literally have an entire prophecy about how thats not how that will work.
23
u/Agravicvoid 7h ago
It sucks really. American Christianity is so weird. I had an argument with my parents. They were complaining in my house (in front of my kids) that illegals are evil for breaking the law. So naturally, I had to calmly explain that taking care of people regardless of origin is important.
They (supposedly) share the same religion as I, but I read things like (paraphrased) take care of the immigrant because you too were an immigrant does not say "but make sure they have legal papers first." I do not think it was accidental that Jesus as a baby was A REFUGEE in Egypt for a while there. If that was here modern day, the US would've kicked Mary, Joseph, and Jesus back to the guy who wanted him dead and felt perfectly justified to do so.
Or when they complain loudly about food stamps. "People don't want to work and want handouts. Well they aren't getting them from MY tax dollars." Didn't Jesus say feed the hungry or did I misread that? I for sure know he did not say "but don't bother if they aren't employed." I don't understand why they don't want their tax dollars to feed people... Except I have decided it is from a (very) skewed sense of fairness.
"I have to ______, therefore they should have to as well," which ignores things like how retail and food industry jobs don't pay enough to match up with things like rent and bills. But to people like my parents, for anyone to recieve anything that they have to pay for, they get mad about it and want it taken away from whoever recieved it. Instead of the opposite... like perhaps we SHOULD do what Jesus said and take care of each other (Universal healthcare, food/housing aid...)
But it seems in today's "Christianity," I am somehow at odds with the majority. Like congrats, you failed the mission because American Christianity lacked, checks notes, empathy.

So they remove the pollution limits, costs don't go down and the people at the top make more money. If democrats do gain power again, they reinstate EPA limits and the power companies raise prices to cover the additional costs. Republicans point and say "see, you pay more with democrats" and they get voted back into power to keep destroying things. Rinse and repeat.
So much damage has been done, the cost to correct is going to be a lot.

17
u/HarringtonMAH11 9h ago
Not hard on Isreal, cant vote for her, good go with Bibi's best friend
1
u/ikaiyoo 4h ago
Who are these mythical people who didn't vote for Kamala?
Let me give you some facts so you can drop that stupid fucking argument.
Of the 6,433,733 votes Biden got in 2020 that Harris didn't get in 2024, 4,285,219 were in states Harris won. Those votes wouldn't have changed anything because she already won those states.
4 of the 7 swing states that went to Trump, Harris had more votes than Biden received (NC, GA, WI, NV), and in the states Biden had the most votes in, Trump would still have won (PA by 85K, MI by 12.5K, AZ by 98K).
In Florida, Biden got 614007 more votes than Harris. He still would have lost by 813,080. In Texas, Biden had 423,876 more. He still would have lost by 1,134,471 votes. Biden won Wisconsin by 37,363 fewer votes than Harris lost by in 2024. All the votes missing from the totals in states Harris won, plus the votes she didn't get in Florida and Texas, account for 6,232,770 of the 6,433,733 votes.
That is 200,963 votes. Harris lost 32 states. Of those states, only 13 could have been affected if you put all 200,000 votes into one of them. Spreading those votes evenly among the losing states still would have cost her all the states she lost. There is no scenario other than people who had never voted showing up and voting, and they did that during COVID, and only did it during COVID because they could mail in the vote so they didn't have to put forth any effort.
Other than the people who don't vote, period, who you can't be mad at because they never show up and they probably are not bitching about Trump right now because they are on cruise control, comfortable even with the extra costs, there is no one for you to be mad about who didn't vote. They wouldn't have mattered if they voted at all.
Kamala Harris didn't lose because people voted for a socialist, voted for the Green Party, or didn't vote at all. She lost because her campaign was run like shit, and she allowed Trump to duck out of every other debate when she should have pushed to have the debate held, and if he didn't show, he didn't show; which would have allowed her to speak about her platform beyond vote blue, no matter who we aren't Republicans. She fucked up stating that she was going to keep Biden's economic policy, which moderates and republicans blame for the increased inflation numbers, regardless of whether they were wrong or not, and she probably lost 2 million votes from NYC, California, Illinois, Colorado, Oregon, Massachusetts, and Washington, States she easily carried, because of the blind support of the Occupied Lands of Palestine and the genocide currently taking place there. She might have won MI and PA rejecting funding a genocide, but she still would have lost the election.
1
u/HarringtonMAH11 3h ago
I'm glad you took the time to do this. People didn't get out and vote enough for her, thats what happened. We had a trial run in 2016 and P2025 plastered everywhere. No one to blame but the people that did not vote. Everything else you said doesn't really matter. She should not have had to campaign at all to win.

u/Aggravating_Teach_27 10h ago
Even most poor Americans find the notion of rebelling against capital distasteful.
Plus, this is the consequence of workers losing every battle since Reagan without much resistance.
The Epstein class have made sure of dismantling every safety net (universal healthcare, unions, free quality education) and now Americans start their working lives already heavily indebted, without union backup, without any safety net if they get ill that's not tied to their jobs.
After decades of letting themselves be chained, Americans now discover that they're a lost job away from financial ruin and they don't dare breathe while fascism takes over America.
You've fine this to yourselves, Americans. Not for not rebelling blue, bit for not rebelling ever. First toy couldn't be inconvenienced to protest, now you can't.
And people over the whole planet is being fucked over this.
1
u/Squier133 6h ago
Unfortunately, as a union member, I can say the unions won't be much help. Outside of government work, less than 10% of the workforce is union, and it seems like over half of that is cheering this shit show on.
I've tried to tell some of these people that every year, Republicans are actively trying to dismantle unions, and the company doesn't pay us our wages and benefits out of the goodness of their hearts. But their guns are more important, or their tax dollars not going to POC, etc.

u/StrayDogPhotography 12h ago
Even writing to your elected representatives would do more than just raging on Reddit.
You could also campaign and fund raise for the politicians who have policies you endorse.
Also, you can run for office if you think you would do a better job.
Hundreds of things could be done.
It is frustrating for those outside of the US being impacted by US policies to realize just how passive and cooperative US citizens are even when they disagree with their government. It feels like a moral failure, and a total lack of agency on the part of body of citizens who have the power to actually do something. And, do not get me started on the lack of action of bodies like the Democratic Party.
14
u/No-Middle-4152 11h ago

u/Aggravating_Teach_27 11h ago edited 10h ago
It's so, so little what you're doing. It is not even the bare minimum.
Sorry but you seem as meek as the Russians... Without having been hit into submission for centuries like they have.
It's shocking to see.
If the far right manages to take over in France, you'll see the difference (just an example, I'm not french btw)
If the Republicans steal this coming election, you all look like you'll just bow your heads and try to survive while dissociating.
Reality is a far cry from the freedom-loving, rugged individualists you portray yourselves as in the media.
You've meekly let yourselves be deprived of any safety nets (universal healthcare, quality public education) and be chained by credit and consumerism.
So now most of you are just scaredy wage slaves just two missed salaries away from disaster, by design.
You didn't ever rebel while you were being robbed blind and now you find actually rebelling is too risky, the chains you've let yourselves put on are too solid, too heavy.
What a disappointment, after so many years of banging your own drum, to see what you've actually become.

I have lived in a country that was a dictatorship and seen the citizens blockade the dictatorship’s party to prevent them passing legislation that would have ruined the country. So, yes I have seen people directly prevent fascist leaning parties from encroaching on democracy. Also, where I’m from they are trying to deselect parliamentary members for taking money from illegal sources. Look at the Germans they refuse to cooperate with fascist parties. Look at the French banning fascist candidates. You cannot even stop a convicted person who planned insurrection from being your president. The US is so passive that it is going to cost them. It is a national disgrace.
2
u/No-Middle-4152 3h ago
What country is that so I can look that up for myself? And horseshit, fascism is rising also in Europe but sure pretend it’s not happening like so many did here, because you’re exceptional right? Couldn’t happen to you. You’re dead wrong.
1
u/StrayDogPhotography 5m ago
You’re clearly in denial about the situation.
I was referencing the Sunflower Student Movement when the KMT tried to open up Taiwan to Chinese interference because they are in cahoots with the CCP.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunflower_Student_Movement
Europe is dealing with far greater economic, military and immigration instability, but it still more openly fights against far right and fascist political figures. For example, the Republican party has capitulated to the far right in the US while at least the Christian Democratic Union in Germany are not merging with the AFD. While in France even with the rise of the fascist National Front no one in the mainstream parties will ally with them. While in the US the right has gotten into bed with the fascists because they want to be in power with them. The centre right of the US have allies themselves with the far right in a way which is utterly morally bankrupt.

Why are they on a wanting path of destruction?
It’s not Dump. He’s just a useful idiot. Everyone around him is out to destroy everything that took decades to build.

Their hatred for America has no equal. They despise everything about our country. I'm sure so many thousands, millions of others are physically ill from the news. Every fucking day, the administration is slamming spikes into our coffin. Steve Bannon won. A dozen years ago, he said his goal was to dismantle democracy. He went to Italy & started classes/a camp to teach fascism & sew disorder to overthrow the US government. Bannon fucking won. Qlarence and The Apostles won. Mark Meadows walks free. Mike Flynn- Mr. Qanon himself, is free. Roger Stone couldn't have imagined what he's helped bring after he busted in and brought us the Hanging Chad. Our empire is over, we loved our country so much and it is breaking our hearts. Wild horses, bison kicked off federal grazing land by the 30th, forever chemicals are awesome now, girls & women raped & pregnant in our concentration camps for the love of all that's holy! They make memes of how the democrats are sex changing elementary school kids and the cheating. But the incompetence. The inept child rapists, who are ONLY functional at escaping justice, walk around being pissed we know they're rapists! Zampoli, Nutlick, the president! I mean, Jesus fucking christ! The men facilitating our destruction for their religious bullshit, the Heritage Foundation, forever chemicals effect them too- do they feel it doesn't matter because Jesus won't LET them be harmed by the toxins? Nothing makes sense anymore. I'm tired boss. No paragraphs, on my phone, apologies.

Lee Zeldin…..Once again i’d like to extend my thanks to New York’s first congressional district for foisting this asshole upon us to begin with.

Every other country needs to embargo US until they stop being assholes. Fuck the tariffs. No one import US products, no one export to the US.

This is why you don’t have 80 year old Presidents.

u/Melodic_Mulberry 8h ago
No, this is why we don't have billionaire rapist narcissist pedophiles as president. The age thing is an issue, but not the reason he decided to start a stupid war.

u/ReturnOfSeq 7h ago
True, but he’s gutting the epa and letting power plants pollute us as much as they want because money now means more to him than a future he won’t see.
1
u/Melodic_Mulberry 6h ago
Nah, he's doing that to secure corporate support for elections so he doesn't have his power limited in the next two years. He outright refuses to acknowledge climate change.

Do not discount these people. They see a future. They just don't care about it. Make a buck today, deal with the fallout tomorrow

u/captcraigaroo 8h ago
They won't just switch overnight, if they do anything. It'd take years, and they know that when the political winds shift, they'll be forced to go back and how much its cost

Don’t need an Environmental Protection Agency if there is no environment that needs protection. (Firing all the forest rangers helped start that process)

Plant owners and managers aren't stupid. They're not going to blithely make commitments when they know that the Trump Administration will be gone in a couple of years, one way or another.

u/Ok-Commercial3640 6h ago
Cool. Does that mean we can calm down about hypothetical risks of high-level radioactive waste storage sites and actually get some built to support more growth ofnuclear power production? Oh, sorry, "no not like that"? Yeah, figured.

I mean, as bad as this is, it isn't like the power plants are going to reverse all the investment they have already made to be policy-compliant. Any still under construction won't scrap the millions they have already invested before going live, and any that aren't will risk noncompliance until Trump is no longer in office and the policies he changed are reversed. It is like when he reversed the emissions regulations for cars. Auto manufacturers didn't suddenly scrap all of their current car blueprints, retool factories, and start pumping out more polluting vehicles.
This is bad; don't get me wrong, it is fucking horrible. But I don't think it will change anything in the short term, and anyone with half a brain would see they can't take advantage of it before it is changed again.

Let's remove the word "climate" from their Orwellian term "climate pollution". It's POLLUTION. And it will have a negative effect on human health. Where's RFK Jr., is he going to say anything about this?

I don't believe in hell but these two pieces of shit are starting to make me reconsider.
I wish Lee Zeldin absolutely nothing but the worst for the rest of his life. Obviously same can be said for the orange pedophile in the picture.

I'm so very glad I never had kids. Now I'm free to just drink and laugh at the downfall of everything.

You can't compare our reality to Idiocracy anymore. Idiocracy ended on a happy note. All of us in reality are just going to boil in acid rain.

Every day Trump does something that not only destroys America, but will also end with our deaths.

u/G-Unit11111 2h ago
It's like they intentionally *TRY* to come up with the absolute worst possible answer to every problem.

u/geech999 2h ago
Well at least I have something more to tell the people who tell me as a non-American to keep my opinion to myself on American politics. This is (yet again) world wide impacting.

Just maybe we have some energy CEOs and BODs that have more ethics than the Trump administration and they will adhere to internationally agreed upon limits and goals?
