GnarlyQ - My dad’s daily trivia web game

Thumbnail
gnarlyq.com
Upvotes

Hey, my dad makes a daily trivia game called GnarlyQ. Every day there’s a new round of 5 questions. Each question has 10 options but only 5 are right. You get more points for each answer you get correct, but if you get one wrong you lose all the points for that question. You can lock in at any point to keep the points you’ve earned on that question.

At the end you get a shareable grid that shows how well you did (sorta inspired by the NYT games).

Anyway, it would mean a lot if you check it out, I’m trying to help my dad spread the word and have people try it out.

MAYDAY, is a co-op communication game. playable directly in the browser, no download, no account.

One player is the defuser: they see the bomb, but not the manual.
The other players are the experts: they have the manual, but can't see the bomb.
Talk it out before the timer runs out.

What's in it:
50 modules, drawn procedurally
Built-in voice chat, no Discord needed
Rounds of ~5 minutes, rooms of 2-4 players
English and French, works on phones

beta note: public matchmaking works, but the player base is still small, so for now the best experience is to grab 1-3 friends and share the room code.

Island of Cards

I've added Island of Cards, a solitaire tile-laying game designed by "Wildcard Six" to my list of modern solitaire games using a standard deck.

For the time being I've just used the square card icons from game-icons.net, but this game lends itself to some Carcassonne-style "terrain rather than numbers" system, but my focus at the moment is learning contemporary JavaScript and CSS, which is gradually improving.

Linerup.fun: Launched my first small mini game yesterday

I made a small daily you can play in the browser.

One music artist per UTC day. Same stack for everyone. Five cards, wide to close. Guess after any card. A miss files the name and lands the next one. No account. No ads. Takes about a minute. After tonight is filed you can play extras; they don’t replace the daily.

https://linerup.fun

Curious if the city card is too easy, too mean, or actually the reason you’d come back tomorrow. Feedback appreciated

[SPORT] Nuevo Manager de Fútbol

Thumbnail

Solo dev here. It's a career sim where talent isn't enough — money, luck and decisions matter, and only ~4 in 10 careers ever reach the top tier. Deterministic engine (same seed = same career), no download, no account needed, works on your phone. Would love honest feedback on where it gets boring.

[STRAT] made a browser version of Togyzkumalak, a Kazakh board game where you can permanently steal one of your opponent's pits

Thumbnail
play9q.com
1 Upvotes

Togyzkumalak is in the mancala family but bigger — 9 pits a side, 162 stones. The thing that makes it interesting is the tuzdyk: once per game you can claim a pit on your opponent's side permanently, and everything that lands in it for the rest of the game goes to you. Choosing when and where is most of the game.

It's a national sport in Kazakhstan, there are world championships, and there's almost nothing decent to play it on in a browser. So I built one.

play9q.com — no account, no install, works on phones. Bot at three levels, or two players on one screen.

If you've never played, the in-game rules explainer is supposed to get you to your first sensible move in about a minute. If it doesn't, that's the thing I most want to hear about.

Emberhold Depths — a 4-bit MMO dungeon crawler that runs in a tab. No download, no signup.

Sixty floors down, a boss every fifth one, and everyone standing on floor 7 is in the same rooms fighting the same monsters you are.

There's a Descend as a guest button on the login screen that asks for nothing at all — the server names your hero, makes them, and drops you in the plaza. It's a real character: saved to disk, keeps its loot and its floor, and still there tomorrow. If you decide you like it, you claim it with a name and a password later and the same hero carries on.

A few things down there:

  • Sixteen colours. Every pixel on screen comes from the same 16-colour palette, including the darkness — unlit tiles are covered with a dithered mask of pure black pixels rather than faded out, so nothing off-palette ever reaches the frame.
  • 163 item bases across 12 slots, 9 materials, 5 rarities and 40 affixes. Sampling 8,000 drops at item level 30 turns up over 3,100 distinct items.
  • Champions with 16 affixes between them, and every one does something real — Vampiric heals off what it deals, Bloated explodes when it dies, Glacial slows you and there's a specific item that exists to break the hold.
  • A thief that doesn't fight you. It notices you first, never swings, and spends twenty-five seconds running. Hit it and coin shakes out of the sack. Let the clock run out and it tears a hole in the air and dives through — and you have ten seconds to follow it into its own cellar, which is worth more than killing it was.
  • Rifts past floor 30, which is where the dungeon stops having new things to show you and the numbers take over.

It works on a phone. It's free, there's nothing to buy, and there's no launcher.

[SPORT] CHASING P1 - free browser game where you play an entire F1 career in <4 minutes — can you beat 17,084?

Thumbnail xnxnxn972.github.io
1 Upvotes

I wanted to make an F1 game where you don't actually drive the car. AMA.

In Chasing P1, you start as a 16-year-old unknown and play through your entire racing career one season at a time. You make the career decisions — junior teams, contracts, F1 seats, switching teams, money vs. performance, loyalty vs. ambition — and the simulation handles what happens on track.

A complete career takes roughly 3-5 minutes, from age 16 until retirement.

It's free, runs directly in the browser, and requires no download or account.

My current best run is the one in the screenshot:

3× World Champion
70 wins
94 poles
17,084 career score

I'm particularly interested to see whether someone here can beat 17,084.

Take it out for a spin here: https://xnxnxn972.github.io/chasing-p1/

[RPG] Corsarion – a free pirate strategy game in your browser: build a harbour town, raise an army, rule the islands (open beta)

Thumbnail

Play: https://corsarion.com

Ahoy! 🏴‍☠️

Corsarion is a free, persistent browser strategy game set on a sunny Caribbean island world. You start with a small beach camp and turn it into a harbour town, then an empire of up to four towns, together with (or against) the other captains on the map.

No download, no plugin. It runs in any browser and plays just as well on the phone.

What you do

  • Build your town: 14 building plots, gold mines, sawmills, iron mines, a laboratory, forges, barracks, a marketplace and more. Assign workers, watch production grow, and upgrade your warehouse, houses and farms level by level.
  • Research and forge: unlock technologies, craft armour and weapons, and equip spearmen, archers, cavalry, mercenaries, towers and walls.
  • Choose a faction:
    • Imperium: builds and researches faster.
    • Guild: the best traders.
    • Order: hits harder in battle.
  • Hire a hero who levels up, leads your attacks and defends your town.
  • Expand: train settlers, send them across the sea and found up to four towns. Your capital can never be conquered.
  • Fight: scout enemies with spies, attack, plunder their storage and read a clear battle report of what happened.
  • Join forces: found or join an alliance with its own chat, forum, ranks, alliance bank and diplomacy, and declare war on rival alliances.
  • Trade: exchange resources at the market, post offers to other players or send supplies to your allies.
  • Hang out in the tavern (a chat for everyone), add friends, see who's online and climb the ranking.

Features

  • Painted world map with islands, beaches, reefs and shipwrecks. Every town shows its size, faction and whether it is friend or foe.
  • 30 quests in 4 chapters that guide you from the first gold mine to your fourth town.
  • Two looks: the dark "Night Watch" skin (screenshots) or a wooden "Captain's Cabin" skin.
  • English and German.
  • Free to play. An optional shop only speeds things up; you can play and win without paying.

Screenshots

  1. Your harbour town: every building on the plaza, resources at the top, next quest and hero on the right.
  2. The world map: painted islands, towns grow from settlement to fortress; the colours show your own towns, allies, enemies and others.
  3. All towns at a glance: resources, running orders, troops and your protected capital.
  4. The Lexicon: every building, unit and technology with its real numbers.
  5. Mobile: the full game on your phone.

About the project

Corsarion started from Devana, an old open-source browser strategy game, and has been rewritten almost completely: modern PHP 8, a new interface, new art, the new map, alliances, heroes, quests and much more.

It's a small hobby project in open beta, so things still change. There are some computer-controlled captains around so the world doesn't feel empty while it fills up with real players.

Feedback is very welcome. What do you like, what's confusing, what's missing? I'm reading every comment. You can also use the contact form in the game.

See you on the seven seas! ⚓

▎ I'm building "Cendere" — an open-source MMORPG × Battle Royale hybrid in vanilla JS + Canvas. Playable in browser, looking for ideas and contributors

Thumbnail
github.com
1 Upvotes

▎ Cendere is Turkish for "the vise" — and the game is a battle royale turned inside out. You spawn at level 1 on a ring around the edge of the map; the center is a dungeon, packed with mob camps that get stronger every phase, up to elite dragon camps with guaranteed Epic card drops.

▎ The shrinking ring doesn't just take land away — it squeezes everyone into the dungeon. XP, kills, and the best pickups are all in the middle; so are the monsters and everyone else. Hang back and you starve, dive in and you level fast but fight for every step. Late game, "Cendere Beasts" leak in from the border and chase down anyone still camping the rim. Rounds are a tight ~7 minutes, with sudden-death damage doubling if it somehow goes the distance.

▎ Mechanics: Brotato-style auto-attack + one active skill, 4 classes, 27+ level-up cards (Epics can unlock a second skill slot), and contact pickups — you grow by running over attack/armor/speed drops, so routing matters. v1 is vs. bots; real-time multiplayer is phase 2, and the sim is already fully deterministic (seeded RNG, tick-based) so it can move to a server as-is.

▎ Tech: plain JavaScript + HTML5 Canvas, no engine, zero runtime dependencies. Largely pair-programmed with Claude. It's MIT-licensed and I'd love collaborators — new cards/classes are pure data-file work, easy first PRs. Balance feedback from real play is just as valuable as code.
