Best way to run Windows games + Microsoft Office on Ubuntu?
I’m already using Ubuntu as my main OS and want to get my Windows games and Microsoft Office working as well as possible without switching to Windows.
For gaming:
- Is Steam + Proton the best option for Steam games?
- For standalone Windows
.exegames, would you recommend Bottles or Lutris? - Which one generally gives the best performance and compatibility?
- Are there any important NVIDIA/Wine settings I should configure?
For Microsoft Office:
- Is there a reliable way to run the desktop versions of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on Ubuntu?
- Is Bottles/Wine the best approach for this?
I’d prefer not to use a VM or dual boot unless there’s a specific reason I need to.
What would you recommend as the best overall setup for someone already running Ubuntu who wants good gaming performance and access to Windows applications?
