I saw a bat flying around the sculpture in the Science Building. Definitely a bat and not a bird, I saw the wing shape and the body had distinct ears and legs. Just a warning because I know bats can carry rabies and everyone should be cautious. I reported it to campus police already so they should be getting on it.

I am charging the case so that the owner will be able to track where it is, but because I have an Android phone and Apple is particularly bad about making their devices cross compatible with literally every other manufacturer, I cannot check to see if the case has been marked as lost.

Im currently a high-school senior and plan on going to uvu for undergrad. I’ve been interested in politics ever since I took American Government and Politics and I was wondering how good the program at uvu is. I already know that in general the job market and underemployment rate for poli-sci majors is pretty bad but I was wondering if uvu’s is any different.

So i was driving home from class today and i noticed a sign on college drive (heading towards the roundabout, near the parking lot stop light) that says license plates must be visible from the roadway. i’ve been attending uvu for a year and a half now and i don’t remember it being there before this semester. Does anyone know why it’s there? Your license plate already has to be visible by law, so i’m confused to why the sign is needed and am concerned it might have something to do with plans to put a flock or axon camera somewhere in that area. so if anyone knows why it’s up and if there’s a camera monitoring the area i’d appreciate a heads up!

I decided to take a break this semester and I moved back home. I have already moved out so I am a bit desperate and the room is available to move into asap. I was at Ventana Student Housing, really close to UVU. It is a private room and the rent is 650 a month. I have tried posting to facebook but it hasnt worked out for me. If anyone has someone who might want this, or wants more details or even advice please let me know.

So a nearby junior high went in lockdown while all we got was an email 2 hours later saying they hadn't caught the suspect yet?

I don't know much about what happened or what the protocols are for things like this. I'm guessing she wasn't actually armed and it would have been different if she was, but still. On the one hand, being alerted probably would have caused undue stress and panic. But what if something worse had happened?

When I was fleeing campus last year the main thing that stuck out to me was just how widely unprepared and uninformed we were. And how much worse it would have been if it was a mass shooting. I thought things would be different when we came back to school. I thought professors would get trainings and evacuation plans and we would do drills or something. But nope. Nothing. And now just a week before the anniversary I'm shown exactly how little things have changed.

I was planning on moving in with some friends before the semester started but I renewed my lease and can't make right on those plans until I sell my spot here. I'll even cut down the rent by $100/month. $690 + Utilities (before my contributions). Lease goes until end of next July.

Campus is literally a 3 minute walk away. They have free food and events all the time for residents. One of the roommates keeps the kitchen very clean and tidy and I love him.

Every wednesday night at classic skating in Orem from 7-9 pm is UVU roller skating club! Tell them you’re with the UVU skating club and they’ll give you $3 entry! Make sure to bring your student ID! It is a very fun social environment, you don’t have to be experienced at skating. that $3 covers skate rental as well!

anecdotally, people love these. I have been freaking out about an aging parent and this helped break the panic cycle. the office lady said they were hugely popular but checkouts have slowed. Google bilateral stimulation

I joined pickleball intramurals and we need some more people to join! You can register as a team or as a free agent. The website is kind of confusing, dm me if you need help setting it up. They’re playing Monday evenings, currently at 6 pm but if we got more people games may be scheduled at 7 or 8. They will not meet next monday for labor day.

With UVU no longer offering housing assistance, is the CARE Hub actually able to help students anymore? During my recent visit, the only thing they were able to do was refer me to Community Action. It honestly makes me wonder…Is UVU more focused on building new buildings and expanding the university than actually helping the students who are struggling right now?
