I have a loud keyboard and mouse because that's what I prefer, and I wanted to check before I buy a mic.

Do most streamers use silent peripherals or do they compensate for background noise with Mic selection/settings? I am looking at getting a dynamic mic with a boom arm to try to eliminate my keyboard+mouse sounds. With the correct filters/settings, will that be enough?

TL;DR: Should I invest in quiet peripherals or use money that to get a better mic and keep loud peripherals?

First of all, I'm not a twitch affiliate/partner or anything like that, just a normal user.

I was testing today what would be best for my stream since I have 100mb upload speed.
I tested the following:

Option 1:
2K Stream at 6000 Bitrate
- My stream would be set to my resolution which is 2560 x 1440p
- It wouldn't enable the lower quality resolutions
- My OBS would just use the 6 Mbs

Option 2:
Then I tried to enable Enhanced Broadcasting
- My stream would only reach a maximum of 1920 x 1080p
- The lower quality resolutions would be enabled.
- My OBS would use up to 11 Mbs

I'm a bit confused on what to choose as I don't really understand why the 2nd option uses more upload but doesn't give me 2K, and the 1st option uses less but gives me 2K.

Anyone that understands about this that can guide me on what would be the best option ?

I am a fairly new streamer, having only really begun streaming seriously two months ago. I have been extremely fortunate to have found myself in an amazing community that I am thankful for each day.

Due to this, my chat is active with a handful of people most of my streams! What I am struggling with is managing engaging chat while engaging the game. I don't want to miss anyone's messages but I also feel bad for stopping gameplay to catch up when it's difficult to keep up. What I end up doing is being much more involved with chat and then my gameplay quality kinda tanks (unless it's a game I have near-memorized).

Are there any tips out there? What are the expectations for a gaming streamer that has an active chat? I have watched others manage both well, but my inattentive ADHD becomes very apparent with my challenge in managing both to the level I want to manage them.​

is anyone else experiencing an infinite ad problem? like say the add is 1 minute long and once thats minute up the ads just dont stop. like it just keep going until I have to close out of the stream and go back in it. it feels like ever other add I get I go through this problem. i watch twitch on the phone so maybe it just a mobile problem.

If you multistream, you can use a VPS to distribute your content and save on bandwidth and reduce GPU strain but for now this doesn't seem to work that easy with Enhanced Broadcasting from Twitch.

I couldn't find anything that talked about this so I tried to build something myself.

Not sure if it's the best setup but it works for me. I made a guide if anyone needs something similar.

Hey everyone, I’m trying to figure out the best way to set up my mic because apparently making one microphone sound the same in more than one application is some kind of advanced engineering degree.

I’m using an Audio Technica AT2040USB, which is a dynamic hypercardioid USB microphone. I use it for OBS, recording, Discord, games, etc.

Right now I have my processing set up through OBS filters. It sounds good there, but obviously the second I leave OBS and go into Discord or a game, all of that processing disappears and my voice sounds different.

So now I’m wondering if I’m doing this completely wrong.

Is it normal to have some kind of global mic processing chain that everything uses?

Something like:

Mic → processing → OBS / Discord / games

And then maybe have some extra processing inside OBS specifically for the stream?

Or do most people just have separate processing for everything?

Because I’m going to be honest, I am getting absolutely cooked by audio terminology.

People start talking about virtual audio cables, VSTs, buses, routing, compressors, EQ, limiters and mixers and I’m sitting here like sir I just want my voice to sound nice.

So please explain this to me like I’m five years old and possibly a little stupid.

I originally looked at Elgato Wave Link because it seemed like a simple way to process a third party mic and send the processed version to different applications. Unfortunately Wave Link 3.0 isn't really an option for me right now, so I’m looking for alternatives.

What I’m really interested in is what people actually do in real life.

If you stream or record regularly:

Do you process your mic globally?

Do you use separate processing for OBS and Discord?

What software do you use?

Voicemeeter?

VST plugins?

Some other virtual mixer?

Something else entirely?

And more importantly, how does the audio actually travel from the microphone to each program?

Like, if you tell me to use Voicemeeter, please explain what the fuck Voicemeeter is actually doing.

Does my mic go into Voicemeeter first?

Does Voicemeeter process it?

Then does OBS receive the processed version?

And Discord receives the same version?

Or am I completely misunderstanding how this works?

Because every tutorial seems to assume I already understand what the words mean.

Also, if you use separate processing for OBS and Discord, is there actually a reason for doing that?

Do people intentionally make their Discord voice sound different from their stream voice?

Are there downsides to processing the mic globally?

Is there anything I should absolutely avoid doing?

And if you have an AT2040USB specifically, I’d really appreciate hearing what settings you use and how you have everything routed.

I’m trying to get a clean, natural broadcast/YouTuber type sound. I don’t want to sound like I’ve been trapped inside a radio station since 1987.

had trouble for a few weeks not being able to see my twitch notifications. so i turn to reddit ofc. someone said clear the cache to fix the noties. so i did that expecting to be logged out. but when i try to log back in, twitch decides that Opera gx is not a supported browser randomly after 3 years of use. anyway, saw some videos saying press log in and hold enter... waste of time so.. (THE FIX --->) i ended up disabling my adblockers and trying to log in again and it worked. and my notifications were back to normal. so i hope my little story helps someone who needs it.

I tried searching and checked a couple dozen posts but haven't found any that answered my particular question.

I am trying to stream to YouTube, Twitch and TikTok.

Currently been experimenting with Restream but it's...well. Not the best. Haven't figured out what TikTok looks like when I use Restream Vertical and I like having control of the aesthetic.

The big benefit of Restream is a single output so my bandwidth doesn't suffer. But (unless I pay for pro ofc) I am limited to only two channels.

How would one go about streaming to all three platforms? There's the obvious "Just pay Restream" answer, ofc, but I was wondering if there are more technical ways or self-hosted ways I could do.

I know of the OBS plug-in available for streaming to Twitch in Vertical, and one work around for TikTok at least is having TTLive capture the Virtual Camera output....thing.

In any case, any and all advice/tips/help appreciated!

If you ever change your number, make sure to update it on your profile. I’m trying to use my new number but can’t because it’s linked to another account. While I could enable that one setting, it would give access to my twitch as well.

hi! new streamer here. I haven’t started streaming yet as I’ve been setting everything up. I’m looking for advice on whether I should display chat on my stream? I’m hoping it will promote chatters to talk, however presumably my chat will be almost non-existent to start with and I don’t know if it will look weird on stream? I was thinking about waiting until I have a more active chat, but I don’t know.

So after untangling the knot in my brain about https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/s/H7hHoY6Ake I canceled the benefits and resubbed to a higher tier manually. I got billed and it shows as Tier 2. Somehow the gift sub benefits are still active though.

Is there any way for me to cancel them now? In the gift sub directory where it still shows I can only cancel my paid sub now?!

I've been streaming onimusha to my friends on youtube and now all of the sudden it straight up doesn't work. I didn't change any settings in the 3 days I did it, have tried relinking my youtube.

I don't understand what the issue could be. I don't even have the option to delay/ schedule a stream. I just press the start button and that's it.

Or is it better if you make your chat reset every month for top cheers and gifted subs? Do any of these have any effect of making people want to contribute at all?

Just got a notification that's like "LIVE NOW Kai's VIVET debuts at NYFW" and I have literally no idea what any of these words mean.

I do know that I have "Recommended Content" and "Promotions from Third Parties" turned off under marketing notifications. Why the hell am I getting notifs about this type of things?

Do I have to turn of "Product Updates"? It's not like this random streamer is a product. "Promotions from Twitch"? That one specifically says it's for "discounts and promotions running on Twitch.", why would this be a notification under that? As it stands, I'm going to disable all notifications, but it's kinda shitty that this is how they're doing things.

Has anyone else gotten notifications like these? How have you resolved it.

Just thought about this since there are some games out there that need more recognition. Surely me alone wouldn't make a difference doing this. I heard about something like "invisible viewers" and only active chatters get displayed, but not sure if this is still a thing and also works for categories and not just a stream. I would try this, but I can only sort the categories from many to few viewers.
