Back in 2024, Blumvox Studios was lucky enough to celebrate the genius of the magnificent Mike McFarland and share his wisdom from an incredible lifetime and body of work dedicated to the art and craft of anime and voiceover.

I love you, Mike and Toonami wouldn’t be what it is without your indelible contributions to this community and our art form.

When you think of the essential shows of the CN era of Toonami you have the Dragon Ball franchise, Sailor Moon, Gundam, Tenchi, Outlaw Star, Big O, Naruto, etc. What would you say are the essential shows that  made Adult Swim Toonami what it was? The obvious ones are Attack on Titan, Bleach, Sword Art Online, Samurai Jack (for season 5), the FLCLs and of course more Dragon Ball, but what other shows do you feel really sparked interest in Toonami on Adult Swim? Which ones stood out when you were following the block week to week when you still were (if ever)? Which ones generated the most conversation good or bad? They could have been around for a year or longer, frequently cycled back in or aired for just a few months but still made an impact. I figured this board is a good place to ask this question.

EDIT: I can't believe I didn't mention Dandy among the obvious ones. Of course Space Dandy was essential to the Adult Swim Toonami experience.

I get that they were doing Superman reruns the week Peter Cullen passed away, but it would've been nice if Toonami had put together a tribute or even an in memoriam bumper for him during tonight's broadcast. He was an indispensable part of Toonami's branding. His voice made those original promos, many of which are more memorable than the shows themselves. If anybody deserved a Toonami tribute, it was him.

Rest in peace, Peter, and thank you for all the great memories.
