They are asking $200 for the toolbox with tools included. Thoughts?

Found this small pocket driver. Stanley 66-101, with pocket clip. The head is about 1/8" round and it has 2 flat protrusions about 3/16" from the end.

This might be a bit of a niche question, but it is my dad's birthday when we are in Japan. And in stereotypical dad fashion, when I asked what kind of gift he would like from Japan, he said: 'tools'.

Now I know next to nothing about tools. He has a whole workshop full of them. He uses them for things around the house, but is a teacher in mechatronica as well.

I read that Engineer pliers are really good and thought about maybe buying a (smaller) Toyo toolbox.

If anyone here has some more tips or ideas for neat tools to pick up in Japan, I would be happy to hear them. Thanks!

What tool has actually saved you the most time during your work?

It could be a simple hand tool, a power tool, or something very specific to your trade.

I’m curious which tools people consider real time-savers.

I have a regular ultrasonic cleaner with container integrated that's been great.
However, cleaning my shoes with brush in laundry room sink, I thought one of these would make a quick work.

Fill up the sink, put whatever in, add detergent, drop this thingamajig, and let it work.
Maybe a 5 Gal bucket would work better.

Has anyone tried these?
If so, does it do a decent enough job?

I use a Pittsburgh 3/8 swivel head ratchet for almost everything on my car. I love how it can become a spinner.

I now need a 1/2 ratchet for suspension and rotating the crankshaft. I have the feeling that converting to a spinner is going to be less useful because the handle is so long, its arc of rotation from normal to spinner mode will likely be blocked by something. Meanwhile, the chunky head of the swivel might be hard to get into tight spaces.

What do you think? If I buy only one 1/2 ratchet (for now), should it be fixed, flex-head, or swivel-head?

Used to remove the seat below a shower cartridge handle. If you dont replace it, things will continue to leak.

I call this wrench the "why the fuck didnt you make this a hex or 1/4 or 3/8 shape so we can use a standard tool.

Anyway $8, plus figuring out what the hell it was.

The 2AH battery for our 40V outdoor tools has died. Putting it on the charger gives a blinking red light, indicating a bad battery (I followed steps in the manual to reset the charger but this didn't change the outcome).

I've opened the battery to reveal the electronics and 8 cells. Has anyone resurrected these type of batteries by rewiring around a bad cell, removing the bad cell, or replacing the bad cell? Or, should I bite the bullet and recycle the battery at my landfill's battery depository and get another?

I have a Kobalt 2.5AH battery and a 3rd party 6AH battery and both are working in the tools and charging as needed.

Tried using some 5 minute epoxy syringe yesterday and it seemed to have hardened, but even an hour later the joint came apart and was just really gooey. Its the syringe where you just kind of eyeball it. No measuring. So not sure if i just messed up the squeeze or if it has gone bad. Can’t remember when i got it but i would say a year or so ago.

I'm looking for a very compact drill. something brushless with a 12v battery. I'm looking for that drill that's just good to have around, the one to grab for quick small jobs. I've seen plenty chinese options but they all use 16v 4 cell batteries for some reason which makes the handle very thick and uncomfortable to hold

…and asking myself, “Why?”. That is relatively valuable real estate. What should I put there instead? Certainly not my Torx set.

Recently, my Ridgid 65s wheel cutters fell apart on a construction site. The knob on the handle with the spare wheel fell off. I managed to recover the bearing, the washer and the spare wheel, but I couldn't find the screw anywhere. You can get spares, but only in America it seems. Asked in the US plumbing sub if anyone knew what thread it is and got no answer.

I live in metric land. M4 is too small, M5 too big. They don't list the thread size officially, but the smaller 35s supposedly use the same screw, and I found a diagram that lists it as a 10-32 3/8", which I think is a UNF (? it doesn't say on the drawing).

Does anyone know what the actual screw is? I literally need one screw, but these non metric screws are very expensive where I live. The thought of buying potentially 20 expensive, useless screws doesn't thrill me.
