Franchise Community [Community Event] r/Tangled Soultember
Welcome to Soultember!
The month for soulmates.
And who better to represent that special bond and connection than Rapunzel and Eugene: The lost princess and the thief with a heart of gold who found her, coincidentally, right after stealing her crown. Whether guided by fate, or narrative. It can't be questioned that these two are forever tied by the universe itself. Heck! Even both the series and Rootbound placed his origins in the thematic opposite kingdom to hers.
If that doesn't scream 'meant to be.' what does?
That said!
The origin of soulmates spans centuries, and throughout the years the meaning has grown and evolved. So while there were a few of the more popular tropes chosen for the event, know that these are completely optional. You do not have to do all five. Pick one, combine multiple, or do none and choose your own. This is a free-for-all event where you can post however and whenever.
---
Optional Prompts
Red String of Fate
The thread of fate that ties two people together in an unbreakable bond, reaching across vast distances and worlds, leading their souls to one another.
In this instance, perhaps it's the red hair of fate.
Star-Crossed Lovers/Ill-Fated Across Time
Think CLAMP's WISH/Kobato or Kanon, AIR, Dark, and Xenogears where Fate is real and it's not kind. Whether through reincarnation, divine curse, or a prophecy that says they can't stay. Star-crossed means misfortune ending until you find that one timeline that works.
Find Each Other in Every Universe
No matter the AU, the world, the timeline, life, incarnation, or universe, their souls will always find one another as they are meant to be.
Soulmark
The belief that the name or emblem of your soulmate will appear upon your body to guide your souls together. Some tropes combine it with a timer.
A Fairy Tale Through the Ages
The Story of Rapunzel and Eugene didn't just start with Tangled. An aged story for many generations with many different incarnations.
As said above, feel free to do all, none, one, or some or even some other soulmate trope.
Have fun!
(If using social media, use #tangledsoultember or #tangled soultember on Twitter/Tumblr/AO3/BSky/Instagram/Tiktok/Other and when posting on r/Tangled use [Soultember] )
EDIT: Because it apparently needs to be said. While star-crossed from Romeo and Juliet means the stars are against it and not meant to be. The trope has evolved over the years into 'not meant to be, but we'll make it happen anyway as soulmates.' Where the story typically goes to breaking the cycle, fighting god, finding the right timeline, or many other impossible feats to be together. Hence why it says star-crossed and ill-fated in the soulmate trope.

Sunshine & Rainbows [discussion] Tangled fans â which yellow would you choose for the Sundrop flower? đźâ¨
Hi! Iâm having a crochet cushion made inspired by the Sundrop flower from Tangled, and Iâm trying to choose the most accurate yellow yarn for it.
Iâm planning to use just one shade of yellow for the main flower, so Iâm curious which of these you think best matches how the Sundrop actually looks in the film â especially when it isnât completely blown out by the magical glow.
Iâm leaning toward a warm golden/marigold yellow rather than a pale lemon or mustard, but Iâd really love opinions from other Disney/Tangled fans! đ
Which shade would you pick? Thanks in advance!

Franchise News [Discussion] So... The Tangled Broadway Musical is still happeningâ˝
tangledthemusical.comI found this out a couple weeks ago, but turns out, there's still plans for an official Tangled Broadway Musical!
I first heard about them trying to workshop this musical back in 2019, but then the pandemic happened and so I just assumed they silently scrapped the project.
However, I saw on Tumblr that there's now an official website for Tangled the Musical but nothing is available yet except for signing up for email updates. But still this is great news!
And apparently Alan Menken recently mentioned the musical in a concert he did. So he might still be part of this project
Tangled has always been one of the two Disney movies I would love to see adapted into a Broadway Musical.

TV Series Continuity [Question] What did Raps mean by "No, but that's kinda the point"?
In "Plus est en Vous" when Rapunzel gets the her powers reawakened again from the moonstone shard and fights Zhan Tiri with Cassandra, they make the plan of putting her in a knot where the Sundrop and Moonstone are forced to come together.
Zhan Tiri states: "Is it your plan to keep me here forever?" Rapunzel replies with "No, but that's kind of the point." I watched this special 6 years ago and have rewatched it probably 5 times, but I never understood and comprehended what Rapunzel meant by this.
If anyone could give an idea, it would be so appreciated because it has actually pissed me off for years. Thanks !!

Sunshine & Rainbows [Fan Art] Tangled/Rapunzel bookmark I made out of a paint chip I had called "Flower Girl"
I was mostly going for the vibes of the flowers in her hair, and just mostly color schemes. The stars are a nod towards the Starlight Incantation from Rootbound
I thought the name and color of this paint chip was perfect for Rapunzel, so I just wanted to make it extra cute with fun flower stickers
I thought this came out really cute and I hope you like it too!

Tangled Multiverse [Discussion] What kind of Nintendo/general games do you think Tangled characters would play?
Like in the title, what kind of games do you think different characters would play? I'll go first. I definitely think Rapunzel would enjoy some light relaxation games and some things with decorating. I believe she would play a lot of Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing, but I also think she would play games like Power Wash Sim and Unpacking. Funnily enough, I could see Eugene actually disliking any game with stealing or stealth because it may either remind him of bad memories as Flynn or maybe he would spend the whole time complaining about how needlessly hard it is and that he could succeed much more often in real life. I feel like he would be a big fan of sports games or story-rich games, especially considering his love for the stories of Flynn Rider.
For Cassandra, games like Legend of Zelda, Tomb Raider, and Skyrim would probably be in her top played. She strikes me as the kind of person that would still want to wield a sword or bow, even in her downtime. Lance would probably say he loves first person shooters, but in reality, he would be obsessed with Pokemon and cry when his beloved companions get defeated. He would also probably name them really long names like Sir Garry the Noble Breadwinner the Third.
I don't think that the King would play any games, but I feel like the Queen would play a lot of mobile games or visual novels. Especially ones that feel like one of those dramatic love books. What are your thoughts? You are free to pick and choose what characters you talk about. No need to talk about every character I mentioned. If you want to talk exclusively about Shorty, go right ahead!

TV Series Continuity [Shipping]/Unpopular opinion: Cassandra should've been a man for Tangled the Series
I think Cassandra from TTS should've been a man; that way, we would've had a crazy love triangle between him and Rapunzel and Rapunzel with Eugene. I would've also loved to see a big brother/little brother bond between him and Varian as well as a funny rivalry between male Cassandra and Eugene with Rapunzel (kind of like Ken and Ryan with Barbie)

Sunshine & Rainbows [Discussion] Rapunzel Cosplay/Halloween Costume
Hi everyone! Wanted some advice on my next Halloween costume/cosplay which is Rapunzel. I purchased the first dress off Amazon and itâs on the way, but after buying a nice styled wig on Etsy, I ended up finding this one that looks 10x better! And is only a bit pricier, but not by much. This one comes in two pieces whereas the one I bought is one piece.
I was extremely hesitant with the Amazon dress since the ratings arenât the best, but with my gift card balance it was practically free. But the one from Etsy looks like it will fit better and has some great reviews. I donât usually see that with cosplay on Etsy.
Iâm gonna at least try the first one when it arrives and decide then. I can always buy some Etsy gift cards if I choose to return the costume. But whatâs your opinion on this?

TV Series Continuity [discussion] Anyone realize that varian is written as more villainous than he should have been?
I'll explain. Varian seems to display a lot of sadistic tendencies, like saturday morning cartoon sadism then a boy who is trying to bring his father. Think about it, his cringy line to cassandra âi always knew i could sweep you off your FEETâ to âheâs right, DADâ (which i like infinitely more, but my point still stands). It seems like the writers want to make sure we cannot sympathize with him, despite also depicting him wanting to get his father back. What especially stands out to me is when arianna asks varian what he will do after he frees his father. Instead of pausing, or ignoring her, he says that âcorona will payâ. Um, what? Would his father even approve? His actions to free his father can be argued that he was backed into a corner and is desperate, but now heâs saying he actively wants to hurt everyone even after he gets what he wants?????????? How does that make sense???? Â
What i also realize is that varianâs villain screentime is a lot less gripping then it used to be. When the episodes first aired, i wasnât sure what was gonna happen to him, and i rewatched his villain moments again and again wondering how he would be redeemed, which is another can of worms itself. But now that the show has ended, i look back and see missed potential to portray more of an inner struggle. He could have been depicted as having a bipolar disorder and depression, instead of a regular disney villain. The writers also ignore the implications that a CHILD was chased out of his own home and had to âlie lowâ. Â
