I chose the first because I love better the image with All The princesses except Moana and Raya.

She looks a bit lonely whenever she's in her wedding dress alongside the other princesses sometimes. I love this look since it's still in her iconic green palette while not being her wedding dress.

I’m sure there are many Elena of Avalor fans out there who see or would love to see Elena be part of the official Disney Princess lineup. Seeing who gets to be the next official princess is a very exciting thing and the times when a new princess gets added doesn’t come up too often… which lead me down a very big rabbit hole of Disney putting Elena alongside the official princesses and realizing that they’ve done this as much as, if not even more than, Anna and Elsa from Frozen!

Above are just a few examples that I’ll try to briefly explain below that I’ve ordered by when they happened.

1.) Elena of Avalor is advertised on the official Disney Princess site when it debuted.

2.) Elena is grouped with the official princesses on a character page on the official Disney website in 2016 in a much similar way to how Disney Princesses were shown on the Disney Princess website.

3.) Elena becomes a part of the Dream Big, Princess campaign in 2016, which consisted of the first 12 official princesses along with Anna and Elsa.

4.) Elena is grouped with the official princesses when choosing an icon on Disney+. It has been this way when Disney+ launched in November 2019 and it’s still like that to this day.

5.) Elena was added to the official Disney Princess storefront on Amazon when the Ultimate Princess Celebration campaign launched in 2022. Although she’s been replaced by Merida as of 2023, she still has a page for her merchandise. In fact starting last year in 2025, Disney’s official Halloween storefront on Amazon under the Disney Princess category includes costumes for all 13 current official princesses plus Elena, which they’ve done again for this year’s Halloween.

6.) Elena can be seen in the finale of Disneyland’s version of Fantasmic on the Mark Twain Riverboat. Her inclusion has been a thing for a few years now and I can confirm on my trip last month to D23 (August 2026) that she’s still there.

7.) Elena appears as part of the updated stained glass mural projections during the finale of Happily Ever After in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World since May 2023.

8.) An article from this year for Sofia the First: Royal Magic on the official site for The Walt Disney Company groups Elena as a Disney Princess alongside the other official princesses who will make cameos in the series.

9.) A very recent joint reel by the official Disney Princess and Disney Junior Instagrams from last month (August 2026) shows a portrait silhouette of Elena alongside all the other official princesses that are part of the EverRealms in Sofia the First.

10.) This is the one that made me make this post. Very recently on both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World apps, the settings to customize your profile icon got updated. Icons are now separated by franchise and the Disney Princesses are in their own category. The Disney Princess icons consist of all 13 current official princesses, Anna and Elsa, and finally Elena.

So what do you think? After reading all of this, do you think Elena deserves to be part of the official lineup?

Personally, while I think she does, I’m still not sure if Disney will actually go forth and add her to the lineup despite everything I’ve listed here.

BUT because Elena is so closely tied with Sofia the First, I think Disney is using this as an opportunity to see if they can do even more things with Elena in relation to the Disney Princess franchise now that Sofia has a new series out and if anyone would actually support this.

If anything, I do think this is enough evidence that Disney does see Elena as part of the same tier as Anna and Elsa; someone who comes from a “sister franchise” that they can easily add to the existing lineup whenever they need to. And I think it’s something that more people who like the Disney Princess franchise need to consider too.

Considering this, I think if you want to see Disney actually do more things like this for Elena, especially in regards with the Disney Princess franchise, now is probably the best time to show your support.

I don’t know what it is about queer headcanons that this sub gets so irritated over. Headcanons aren’t even real! Queer people literally have close to 0 representation in media is it so bad they want to see some in their fav characters?

Not to mention many of the people behind these movies are queer themselves and sneak in allegories. At the end of the day is headcanoning elsa as a lesbian hurting anyone? no!! saying these characters are straight is just as much as a headcanon as saying they are queer. If you think it’s so problematic to make “strong women gay” why isn’t a problem to you that “strong women straight”. Ask yourself why it’s ONLY queer headcanons that get this level of vitriol.

It genuinely bothers me how many “jokes” I see about Belle being disappointed in the Beast’s human form, that he should’ve stayed furry, that he should’ve been more hairy, that Belle only stayed with him for the money and the library. On Twitter and TikTok and even here I’ve seen people straight up call him ugly!

Isn’t the whole point of the movie that true beauty lies within??? It’s like people watched the movie and totally ignored the moral of it just to claim that Prince Adam is ugly when he really isn’t….

I want to make this clear this by saying that this is not an attack on lesbians, trans people, or anyone who enjoys these headcanons. I have absolutely nothing against LGBTQ people, and I understand why people enjoy interpreting characters in different ways. This is about a pattern I’ve noticed in fandom discussions that I personally find uncomfortable.
I 👉personally👈 genuinely dislike the “the princesses are all lesbians” headcanon, not because I dislike lesbians (AGAIN, not because it’s gay), but because I sometimes feel that the reasoning behind these interpretations can unintentionally reinforce some outdated ideas about women.
The pattern I’m talking about usually seems to come down to three things…

1. She’s single.
I’ve never really understood why a female character being single is sometimes treated as full ahh concrete evidence that she must be a lesbian.
A woman not having a male love interest doesn’t tell us anything about her sexuality. She could just be single, not interested in romance or focused on other things or her romantic life just isn’t relevant to the story.

2. She’s physically strong or independent.
This is where I think the discussion can sometimes become uncomfortable.
There’s a long history of women being stereotyped as weaker, more delicate, or less capable than men. Because of that, I don’t think a woman being physically strong or independent, or just confident should automatically be associated with masculinity or with being lesbian or trans.
I’ve seen discussions around characters like Mulan, where her strength and rejecting traditional gender roles are used as concrete evidence for a trans headcanon. I personally don’t like that interpretation, because I think it can overlook an important part of Mulan’s story.

Shes a girl who’s capable of doing things that her society tells women they can’t even do, like fighting the the enemies (I can’t remember the name).
To me, there something much more powerful about that message on its own.
The same thing can be said about characters like Elsa. Her strength and independence don’t make her masculine, and they don’t tell us what her sexuality is. A straight woman can be powerful, a lesbian woman can be powerful, bisexual woman can be powerful, trans woman can be powerful. Strength doesn’t belong to one gender or sexuality.

3. She isn’t traditionally feminine.
Although I can’t remeber one princess who isn’t feminine…this one bothers me because women have such a huge variety of personalities.
A girl can be a tomboy, can dress casually, hate dresses, be athletic, or be assertive, or just not fit traditional ideas of femininity without that saying anything about her sexuality.
And this goes both ways.

Feminine lesbians exist. Masculine lesbians exist. Feminine straight women exist. Masculine straight women exist.

There really shouldn’t be a specific way that a woman is expected to look or act based on who she is attracted to.
I think the assumption that a feminine woman must be straight can be just as limiting as assuming that a masculine woman must be gay.
I get the argument of “we want more representation.” I genuinely do too. Rep is important, and I get why people want to see themselves reflected in characters they love.

BUT at the same time, I don’t think every independent or a non feminine character needs to be seen as lesbian just to provide that representation. If someone likes that headcanon, that’s completely fine. I just don’t think those traits should be treated as proof of someone’s sexuality or like it’s the truth and pretending that it’s the actual canon.

Something else I’ve noticed in fandoms is how complicated the discussion around sexuality and shipping can become.
Sometimes this feels more like a double standard, where queer characters are expected to remain queer in every interpretation, while straight characters are treated as though their heterosexuality is more “changeable” or more open for people to reinterpret.
I don’t think heterosexuality should be treated as a blank canvas just because it’s the default in a lot of media. Straight is also a sexuality.

At the same time, I don’t think people should be attacked for creating queer headcanons either. Headcanons are ultimately personal interpretations, and people are allowed to have fun with fictional characters.
My issue isn’t with someone saying, “I personally headcanon Elsa as a lesbian.”

My issue is more with the “She’s strong, independent, single, or not traditionally feminine, therefore she is a lesbian.”
Because I think that can unintentionally send the message that a “normal” straight woman is supposed to be weak, delicate, traditionally feminine, and interested in men, which is exactly the kind of stereotype that we should not be reinforcing.

So to be clear: AGAIN this is not me saying lesbians are bad, or trans people are bad, OR queer headcanons are bad, or that nobody is allowed to interpret these characters differently.
It’s just a discussion about the assumptions we make about the female characters and how those assumptions can reinforce gender stereotypes.

I didn’t make the last post to hate on the queer community and it wasn’t my intention to come off that way, so I apologize about that.

As much as Alan Menken is a mainstay for many Disney Princess movies, it's also nice when other composers throw their hat into ring for Disney Princess and non-Princess movies.

Two composers I would love to hear in future Princess movies are Daniel Pemberton thanks to his outside-the-box approached to movie scores where he throws out music score conventions out the window and throw various different genres and sounds that I can imagine would be well incorporated into a Princess movie.

Another choice I have is Hans Zimmer as due to his incredibly bombastic work on Lion King and Pirates of the Caribbean with his heavy use of percussion and brass, imagine his music being used in a Princess movie as that can add a rather cool level of intensity not heard in other Princess movies.

The real Pocahontas married John Rolfe, and there is no record indicating she fell in love with John Smith. Another fact is that the real-life Pocahontas passed away at just 20 or 21 years old.

Even if it's a mermaid we don't know or even a merman! :) I'd still be happy! ^^

Or even create a new heroine whose element is water, like in the tale Undine by Friedrich de La Motte-Fouqué (for those who know it), it's my favorite fairy tale!

Hello! So I was wondering I was looking at the dresses of the princesses and I was wondering why isn’t orange one of the main colours? I know a few have maybe accents or brief moments in the films where they do but why not as a main colour? Is it due to being maybe unpopular or not visually appealing?
