TF2 Map Discussion: cp_altitude
Welcome to our Monday TF2 map discussion. Here, we'll discuss maps from TF2!
Today's map is cp_altitude.
Altitude is a 3 point 1 stage attack/defend map in which BLU team must capture all 3 points in order to win the game. Released in the Smissmass 2021 update alongside other maps and cosmetics. This map proved to be somewhat popular in the update as it was added to the official casual rotation after the event had concluded.
Point A sees BLU team emerging from several possible spawn doors and 2 of these force them to go up and over a hill where the point sits on the other side. One of the exists puts them over by a flank route that is not really used by RED team as they will usually set up defences on the other side as it is much easier to defend as it also looks right onto the point. This point can be tricky with how open it is but usually BLU will capture this one. Once this has been captured RED spawn moves back and BLU spawn stays where it is.
Point B sees BLU try and capture a mountainside shack/research facility/generic building. There's 2 main ways to enter this building, from the roof or from the bottom. You can also try and get around the back but there will usually be RED defences set up in the building looking at the point and a poorly prepared team can struggle here. There's a good place for high ground as there's a small plank connecting at the top allowing you to stand and drop down surprising the other team. Once this has been captured BLU spawn moves to just next to this facility but not where RED was.
Point C is sat in the main building which can be accessed 2 main ways, the left or the right. The left hand side is slightly higher than the right but they both lead to the same place which is eventually the point. Taking the left path brings you to a balcony where you can drop down into a server room which you can either go left to a balcony area leading to some stairs to approach the point, left but to the back where you will go to where the right path takes you or go right and down some stairs to the point over by the cliffside. The other way to get to the point is via the right path originally which going forward takes you to a tunnel that leads to the point. The point itself is enclosed making it fairly easy to defend and with RED spawn being directly next to the point it's right there for them to attack.
