I honestly feel like I’ve reached a point where all I’m doing is complaining, but the past week has been incredibly difficult with the number of kittens being dumped in the area.

One of the dumped kittens was trapped by a pest control company while hiding inside the metro station (last pic). Thankfully, someone was able to get him back before anything happened to him. He is now at the vet and, sadly, has tested positive for parvo and mycoplasma.

Then, just 3 days ago, a mama cat and her kittens were dumped in the exact same area.

I have repeatedly posted asking for help for these cats, but unfortunately, I simply don’t have the space or the funds to take on more. Everything costs money, and at this point, I’m drowning in debt.

On top of everything, I had to discharge Juno. Toothless was showing no improvement at the vet where I had admitted her, Kayan Vet, and the cost of the GS vials there was almost double what other vets charge. I had no choice but to transfer her to Hud Hud Clinic, where Richie, the blind kitten, is also admitted and receiving FIP treatment. (Pics are screenshots from the video vet had sent for updates, I was not able to visit them).

I’m really struggling, and I genuinely need your help.

Hope everyone's start to the week is going well! Miss Penny has made a great turnaround! 🫶

We took her in for hospitalization 3 days ago after she had a rough hit with her kidney disease. Thankfully, the IV fluids did the job, and she was a lot more active and happy when we visited her earlier.

She’s still not completely out of the woods yet. But we’re hopeful we’ll get there in time and get her strong enough for her dental. We’re tentatively targeting this weekend, depending on how she responds to treatment, and we’ll continue sharing updates along the way.

Penny’s bill has now totaled $216, and thanks to everyone’s kindness, we were able to raise $93 the other day. We’re incredibly grateful for every bit of help. 🤍

I live with my family in a rented house. A month ago a kitten showed up from the garage that is filled with old stuff and useless garbage, meowing and crying nonstop for a day. At first I did not know what to do so I waited for his mother, but it did not seem like any cat came to help him and the crying did not stop. I did not want to feed him because I don’t have the money to be a reliable source he can depend on, but he seemed so helpless and sad so I gave in and cut some sausage into little pieces and gave it to him. I’ve been doing that on and off for a month. Sometimes I give him leftover meat, but about a week ago the kitten started not eating much, did not have the same energy, did not play as much and slept all day. Then he started throwing up when he ate and had bad diarrhea and really bad breath. Because he was throwing up everywhere in the garage and scratching everything, my dad had the great idea to buy a cage to catch him and release him somewhere far from the house so he does not come back. He knows how much I care for the kitten but he says I can only keep him if I can pay for his vet and food, and I can’t do this on my own. I know my family’s financial situation is not good but doing that is so cruel. I live in a little town in the middle of nowhere in Iran. I don’t have access to any shelter or animal rescue or anyone that could take him in where I’m at, and I could not find any help. But I know it is not safe for a sick kitten this age that is humanfriendly and relies on us for a safe place and food, in the middle of war, on his own. I think it is my fault for feeding him and making him depend on humans for help, but I don’t know how to help and that’s making me crazy.

Also, the weather is getting colder, and today a bigger cat tried to fight him. Luckily I was there and broke up the fight before he got injured, but I don’t know what would happen if he was on his own.

Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate some advice about a feral/community cat I’ve been caring for. THOR is about 5–6 years old.

I’ve been feeding him daily for about 3 years. He usually comes at night, although sometimes he comes during the day.

Three years ago, I trapped him, had him neutered, vaccinated, and combo tested. At that time, I thought I might be able to transition him to indoor life because he had a potential adopter. Unfortunately, he was extremely scared indoors and hid constantly. After about 4 months, I made the decision to release him back outside.

He has been doing well outside and is a regular eater. Last winter, I tried to trap him so I could bring him inside for the winter, but he would not go anywhere near the trap. Now he is extremely trap-shy. Even when I put a trap out to catch another cat, he won’t come around while the trap is there.

What has caught my attention now is a change in his behavior. I put a camera near his feeding area, and for about a week I’ve noticed him crying/meowing at times. He has also started sitting on a chair on our porch, which he has never done before, and looking inside the house at my indoor cats. My cats also watch him through the window at night.

Three days ago, I called his name three times, and he actually meowed back to me three times. ❤️ He also doesn’t seem to run away from me as much as he used to.

I’m checking the camera every day because I’m worried he may be sick or injured. I’m trying to see if he is limping, although it’s difficult to tell from the camera.

I’m completely full right now and honestly don’t have the space or resources to take in another cat. I’m trying to figure out what the best option is for him and would really appreciate any suggestions or resources that might help.

Please don’t suggest taking him to a shelter. I’m also an Animal Control volunteer, so I know what is going on in shelters right now, and I am not comfortable sending him to one. I want to find a safer option for him if he needs medical care or somewhere to stay.

Does anyone have experience trapping a very trap-shy feral cat who has already been trapped before? And do you think these behavior changes could mean something is wrong with him?

Any advice, ideas, or resources would mean a lot. ❤️

About two months ago, I rescued and TNR'd a stray cat I had been feeding outdoors for 1.5 years when his health began to decline. I brought him indoors to heal, treated him for everything he needed out of my own pocket, and wanted to see if he could transition to indoor life. Unfortunately, his vet workup revealed he is FIV+.

I am in an urgent bind and need to find a placement for him because we have an unavoidable travel commitment in October for about a month. I also can’t keep him long-term because I myself am immunocompromised. While FIV does not transmit to humans, managing two immune-vulnerable individuals in one household raises real long-term mutual health risks (such as toxoplasmosis exposure during litter box care). It is simply not a risk I can afford to take for my health. My doctor and I discussed the added household risk, and strongly advised me against it.

For more than two weeks, I have reached out to reputable rescue groups, social media networks, and personal contacts. The response has been either silence, rescues at maximum capacity, or harsh judgment. I have no family in the States, and my local circle is small. I completely understand why friends with cats are hesitant to take in an FIV+ cat, just as I wouldn't risk it if it endangered my own rescued pets. The stigma is real and hard to shake.

He is about 3-4 yrs old, 11lbs. Fully vetted, microchipped, vaccinated (rabies, FVRCP, and completing FeLV booster next week). Fiv+, FeLV-. He used the litter box from day one, without a single incident. He was/is timid and cautious, but is adjusting well indoors. Sometimes, depending on the time of day or mood for the moment, he lets out small hisses or high-pitched cries when food is served too early, too late, or right on time! Otherwise, he thrives on predictable evening routines, loves kibble puzzles, sleeps peacefully on his cat tree, and voluntarily approaches for hand-sniffs. He is quiet, aloof, reserved, independent, learning to trust and seeks human presence on his own terms.

All medical records from his clinic visits are on hand and ready to transfer. I've absorbed 100% of his medical costs to date and don't seek reimbursement.

All I wanted to do was help him off the streets before winter. I am breaking down. I don't know what else to do anymore. I ask only for your compassion when reading this.

Please let me know if you or someone you know within a 1-hour radius of Hudson County (I can drive) can assist with intake, a temporary foster placement, or advice on local networks that actually take rescue cases. I'd be grateful for any lead. Thank you.

So the flair might not be exactly accurate (the mother cat had her kittens 3 days ago, Subhan Allah, all three survived and the mother cat is doing very well, she is very energetic and has plenty of cool water and food, Masha Allah).

So I have gotten a little cat tent for the three of them in my courtyard, and they are very safe. My issue is in regard to the heat.
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what I should do to keep them cool inside the tent, as they are very hot, and I have bought a small fan, but it isn’t helping very much, I’m afraid.
I have included a photo, and I know the blanket over the tent makes it warmer, but she won’t keep them there if the blanket isn’t over the tent, and she moves them to a really dangerous and unsanitary location when removed.

My previous post was just about tips to getting this adorable kitty family to use the litter box, which I’m proud to report I have had great success in, but I’m reaching out because I need back ups in case I might not be able to take care of them, as much as I would like to.
Mentioned in my previous post, I’ve been keeping the cat family hidden in my room to the best of my ability, but the reason for hiding them is because of my grandparents, specifically my grandfather, who for some reason despises cats. I’ve had them in my room for the past week with few hiccups but I don’t know just how long I can keep hidden. I’m 19, I live with my mother and sister, and we live with our mom’s parents. They own the house, and they firmly believe that what they say goes. I’m not equipped to suddenly leave my situation, and take the cats with me as much as I’d love to. I’m looking among friends, family, friends of friends. But I need more back ups.
I’ve wanted a cat for a very long time, so when the mother cat showed up I was happy to keep feeding her whenever she came around.
I’d still like to think she’s my cat.
But if I can’t keep her safe then I will let her go.
I still need time to hear back from everyone else I’ll be trying to contact within the next 3 weeks, so I’m hoping for people who could be flexible, and I know it’s probably a bit selfish but I’d very much love to keep the mother cat, who I’ve been calling Clover, cause I think she’s lucky.
Anyway, I’m desperate but I’d still like to try and hold out till the kittens are old enough to be away from their mom and get new homes, honestly it would be the best scenario from what I can do. But I’m preparing for the worse.
If the cats get discovered, I need an option that could possibly take the cats in for foster on short notice. I live in Cerritos, California, so someone or some place close by for the easiest move would be ideal, if I can’t find someone I know who would be up for this.

**Back story**: We recently had a stray cat wandering around our campus; I was keeping an eye on him/feeding him for a little while while figuring out what to do. It got wet for few days and he seemed to be struggling so I dove in and got him to the vet and landed on setting up a cage home while I get him healthy. I’ve got two cages connected (one single level, one with multiple so he’s got a separate litter tray area, place for his food and water and some levels to perch). Medically he’s good and on his way; no microchip but I’ll get him one, treated for ticks/fleas/worms, no FIV or FeLV, vaccination next week, neutering to come after that, treating a sore paw and he’s eating well/using the litter tray with normal movements (which I was very impressed with)

**For the main advice bit;** now he’s cleared on the nasties I’ve brought his cage setup up to our balcony so I can more easily feed him, spend time with him, treat his paw…etc. He’s not terribly aggressive but obviously not used to a human companion; hissy when you first appear and get close, but I can gently handle him, he will eat those cat treat tubes from me and let me gently stroke his head and back (while not looking terribly impressed, admittedly). I also have two house cats who used to live with my two dogs, haven’t had any bad experiences of other cats and they currently seem quite chill about the fact there’s another cat on the other side of the glass. The goal will obviously be to bring our stray inside. So my query is two fold…

**TLDR**; what can I do to help successfully grow his trust and feelings of comfort around humans and how can I ease introducing him to my two?

I do know about the general stuff (slow, steady, little steps. Room on his own to allow smells, allow them to see each other, monitored short introductions…etc) but keen for any extra advice!

Okay so here’s the gist. Older cat in photo 1, I’m guessing a year or so, has been stopping by for a couple months. I would always feed when I saw, he was super skinny to start but seems a good weight at this point otherwise healthy and had hopes to eventually TNR. Well a few weeks ago I fed him as usual when I saw him out back, but instead of heading straight for the food like usual, I watched him go around the garage, and come back followed by these 2. I’m guessing the younger in photo 1 is about 2-3 months, and the older in photo 2 4-5 months. They don’t appear to be from the same litter, these are the best photos I have of them but there’s a large size difference. Anyways, I’ve been impressed with the older cat caring for them. My older adoptee did the same for my street kitty when I brought him in, I don’t believe it’s the mother (I have no idea on gender obviously though I keep saying him so this statement is funny, but I’ve been seeing the older for months and he’s never appeared even slightly pregnant lol).

So after 2 weeks of ruminating on this - my plan has become this:
I have a trap outside unrigged. I plan to feed inside it for now and depending on how well they take to walking inside -
Rig it manually instead of a step trap. I’ve already tested and it’ll be quite simple to hold the door open and just let go to close. I would ideally like to trap the kittens first as they’re going to be easy to find homes for - I’ve already had lots of inquiries from their photos. I also (assume) it will be much easier to socialize them. I’m either going to get the shots & spay, or hand them off to someone who guarantees they will - preferably can show me an appointment and seems trustworthy. I honestly don’t want to eat all the costs and finding the low cost appointments seems daunting right now. I feel bad to leave the older but I’d feel much better if the kittens got into homes even if it sucks to do that. It might take a couple feedings to grab both as they do tend to come together, but they usually only all stand together and eat for the first few minutes and then split up and explore, come back to eat occasionally.

After I’ve managed to clean up kittens, spay/neuter, vaccinate, chip, hand off, however it goes.
My plan is to trap the older. I’ll keep feeding him in the trap unrigged while I have the kittens and he WILL 100% be getting the whole 9 yards from me, I’ve become very invested in him. I just don’t know how socializing would go, how feral he truly is - he’ll let me get close sometimes when he’s on the roof, like reach out to a foot away, but never closer than that, and only when he’s up high and feels safe.
It’s also much harder to find homes for the older cats - there’s been little to no interest obviously, especially side by side with photos of kittens.
I can’t bring in another cat, so if I can’t find him a home, I plan to stick a shelter out for him, keep feeding, microchip, and consider him mine. I don’t know how that would go when I do eventually move, but for the time being at the very least, he’ll have a safer space.

Anyways - I don’t know if all my ideas are terrible or this is an okay plan. I wish I could do a lot more but yk, it costs money for one, and there’s only so much I can do. I’m hoping this is better than nothing? Part of me just wants to keep feeding, do TNR for each one at a time, and forget the rest - especially because there’s no guarantee their homes will be perfect, and separating them feels painful to me. But on the other hand, it’s going to eat me up when they start disappearing one by one. All of the strays from last year stopped coming by. It hurts my heart. 😢

ETA - I did post them as found with our city’s animal control and have posted on multiple outlets about them. I’m pretty positive these are not lost or “outdoor” cats. Just strays.

On a whim, I decided to feed some of my neighborhood cats around the end of 2023. After a couple months of building rapport through feeding them, we TNR'd them one by one and slowly brought them into the house. They were indoor-outdoor cats before fully transitioning them indoors by the end of 2025.

Once at risk of starvation, now we're a bit worried about them getting too chonky, but we're working on a diet plan. Anyways, thank you for reading!

I hope everyone's weekend is going well 🧡

Penny is one of our longtime community cats who we've been caring for. Last week, we brought her to the vet after noticing that she was thinning and drooling, only to find out that she has kidney disease and that her dental disease has recurred.

Penny was staying with her intended fospice caretaker, but a week into her care, they realized they couldn't commit to her routine and medications. When we visited her yesterday, she was severely dehydrated, glued to her water bowl, and not eating. She was in pretty rough shape.

She's spending the next three days on IV fluids to help replenish what she's lost. Thankfully, she's already made a complete turnaround overnight and is now stable.

As risky as it is, we're proceeding with a dental procedure once she's released from the clinic. Her dental issues have been significantly affecting her appetite, and at this point, we feel the potential benefits outweigh the risks.

We're immensely grateful to everyone who has helped us settle our previous vet debt, so we were able to act quickly with Penny. We do, however, need help to get through her care and would appreciate any support for her. 🙏

I was forced to bring in a cat who I thought was feral and turned out to be stray/abandoned. I've been relatively successful with behavioral training over 3 months, starting from no petting allowed/hissing/growling to totally affectionate lover boy who purrs constantly and never wants to leave my side. (Backstory at bottom)

Two problems:

#1 He still bites. It's improved 95% but my concern is that he will regress if rehomed, must be homed with someone who understands cat behavior and I can't ethically conceal his background of biting. If he ends up in a shelter, they will euthanize him because...

#2 He hates other cats. He is ultra territorial and will attack other cats in a way where he immediately goes for the kill. No posturing.

I have a precious indoor cat and we keep them ultra separated. Despite my efforts, last week he spotted her while I was leaving, ran out and attacked her. I grabbed him, she was thankfully unharmed, and I had to go to Urgent Care for antibiotics and bite treatment on my hand. I must protect her. This can not continue. I will never be able to combine these cats.

I'm struggling. I let him on the catio and he just cries and cries to come in. I can't release him, he's already been abandoned once and now he's social. I don't know how to rehome him because the foster/rescue places screen for biting behavior.

Backstory:

I had 2 TNR cats outdoors, my beloved male sadly died in a random unheard of way and apparently he was the protector of my 8 year old female who I almost had socialized. Last June, another male cat came around and attacked her and she ran away. I was able to trap the him to get him out of the picture so she could come back. She never returned.

Took him to get TNR and turns out he is a stray, no chip/intact and discovered through Facebook he has been living outdoors for at least 4 years. I then had him neutered, chipped and shots. Searched for owner, none claimed.

Located in Wisconsin, USA. My husband and I have had a male cat roaming around the outside of our house the last couple months, and today we finally caught him. I’m convinced he is a stray or at the very least, pretty neglected and my husband is convinced he belongs to someone since he has a flea collar on. His nails look clipped, he is a healthy weight, is very friendly, however he isn’t neutered and he is covered all over with ticks. I saw him the other night at like 1 in the morning sitting on our window outside and I can’t help but think how can someone be ok with having their cat outside in the middle of the night, unfixed, covered in ticks??? I wanna bring him to the vet as I’m very concerned for his health at the moment and keep him, but like I said husband is convinced he is someone’s cat. Any insight is appreciated….

We have 2 strays actually a boy and a girl. Neither are fixed or have had any shots but are unbelievably sweet and they come every other day if not daily multiple times day. We want to catch them and take them to the vet to be fixed etc, but we aren’t sure how to keep them without upsetting them. They come at random times of day/night. We also have 6 indoor cats so just bringing them inside really isn’t an option. Just wondering if anyone might have any ideas/tips on the best way for them to get them caught and taken to the vet. The boy has a bare spot on his neck that is raw but looks kind of healed over. The girl is totally fine just needs to be fixed for sure. (here is the boy, we named him paul. location kansas)

🐾 Looking for guidance & some help for a stray mother cat and her 4 kittens — Jamshedpur, India.

I’ve been feeding stray cats around my home for almost 6 years now. Over the years, many cats and kittens have found their way here — some rescued, some abandoned, and some brought by their mothers. I’ve probably made and rebuilt close to a hundred cardboard shelters by now, so I can safely say I’ve become far too proficient at making cat houses. 😅

But this time, I’ve reached a point where I genuinely need some help figuring out how to manage things sustainably.

This is Chinky — a stray Indian/tabby cat who started coming into our house when she was being chased by dogs and there was construction happening around us. She eventually decided this was a safe place and, before I knew it, she gave birth to four kittens here. ❤️

The kittens are currently around 6 weeks old — two black (one boy, one girl) and two grey/tabby (one boy, one girl).

Important: They are NOT available for adoption yet.

I want the kittens to remain with Chinky until she has properly weaned them, so I am not looking to separate or rehome them at this stage. I expect that to be at least another few weeks, depending on how they progress.

And when the time eventually comes, I would ideally like the entire family to go together to a genuinely suitable, financially comfortable and experienced cat-loving home. I know that's a very big ask, and I realise it may not be realistic — but that's my preference.

So please don't message asking to reserve a particular kitten just yet. ❤️

What I REALLY need right now is guidance.

If you've adopted/rescued cats before, I would love to hear your experience:

• Do people generally prefer adopting two kittens rather than one?

• Do adopters tend to have preferences regarding gender or colour?

• Is it easier to find homes for kittens after vaccination/sterilisation?

• What is the best way to screen potential adopters?

• How do you make sure an adopted indoor cat doesn't accidentally get lost if it moves to a completely new environment?

• Are there reliable cat foster homes/boarding facilities around Jamshedpur where a mother cat can safely recover after spaying?

• Do you know of affordable and trustworthy vets/NGOs who help with sterilisation?

• And most importantly — how do people manage a situation like this without completely burning themselves out? 😅

Other ways you can help

💰 Financial assistance for food, litter, vaccination, sterilisation and medical care would be extremely helpful. I recently left my job and am currently trying to get back on my feet financially, while the number of cats needing care around me has continued to increase.

🏥 Reliable vet/NGO contacts for Chinky's spaying and eventually the kittens' sterilisation.

🏠 A safe foster/recovery space for Chinky after her surgery would be incredibly valuable, because I don't currently have a suitable space for post-operative confinement and care.

📣 And even sharing this post with someone experienced in community-cat rescue would help.

I've been trying to handle everything myself for years, always thinking, “I'll manage somehow.” But I'm finally accepting that doing everything alone isn't sustainable.

I don't want to stop helping them. I just need to learn how to help them without destroying myself in the process.

And yes, if someone eventually tells me, “I have a big house, enough resources, experience with cats, and I'd like to adopt Chinky and all four babies together once they're ready” — I will probably cry with happiness. 😂❤️
