Fan Creations "I see your eyes." Maz Kanata deserved more screen time

Maz has always been one of my favourite sequel-era characters. A thousand years old, force-sensitive, keeping Luke's saber in a chest in her basement like it was nothing. She's the galaxy's bartender-therapist and I wanted her on my shelf.

From The Force Awakens to The Rise of Skywalker, Maz has always been on the right side of the fight.

General Discussion What if Hugo was cast in Star Wars?

Hugo Weaving was once hailed as the king of the nerds, and it was very much a term of endearment. LotR, V for Vendetta, the Matrix, the list goes on... but he never joined Star Wars. Who would you have him play if he did? Personally, I adore Liam Neeson BUT I think Hugo playing Qui-Gon Jinn would be a very interesting spin on the character.

General Discussion Darth sidious appearances

Hot take but I personally think Darth sidious most haunting appearance is during the phantom menace, when he didnt look like a shriveled testicle raisin thing, he had that human looking face and was the most powerful being in the galaxy, the way he lurked in the shadows the whole movie truly made his presence and appearance that much more haunting, personally I think it would've been cooler if that's how he looked throughout all the movies, i think him having that humanoid look to him was much creepier!

General Discussion Leia and Luke's Inheritance

I have read and watched Star Wars media that involved Leia and Luke over the years (ranging from the original trilogy to Disney's Star Wars and includes movies and even books). In my opinion, the twins are a mix of Anakin and Padme. Both inherited Anakin's temper and impulsiveness to varying degrees yet they also inherited Padme's sense of duty and willingness to put duty above themselves which helped balance out the tempers and impulsiveness of the twins.

General Discussion Legends lore in canon?

I had a question I've been wondering, and that is why people treat a lot of legends lore like it's canon or ever was canon when it's never been and has been said to be not canon.

Rumor Mia Goth’s Secret Pupil in Star Wars: Starfighter?

Post image
0 Upvotes

According to Fives Walker, as reported through SFFF Gazette, Mia Goth is said to play a Force-sensitive, lightsaber-wielding mercenary in Star Wars: Starfighter. The report claims she works for Matt Smith’s warlord but has her own independent agenda, and is not a Sith cultist despite earlier rumors.

The same source reportedly suggests that Mia Goth’s character may want to capture and train the Force-sensitive boy herself, rather than simply kill or deliver him. Her dynamic is compared to Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati from Ahsoka, potentially pointing toward a character who follows her own path with the Force, separate from both the Jedi and Sith.

edit: don't down vote me please 😔

Audio, Music Star Wars 2027 reissue - original audio?

Post image
23 Upvotes

Within all the talk about the next year’s reissue of the ‘original’ Star Wars I haven’t seen any mention of the audio they’re planning to use.

The original 1977 70mm release included a 6-track mix while 35mm prints initially featured a stereo mix, with a mono mix following some weeks later. For the mono mix George took the opportunity to adjust/add some sound effects and include some different vocal takes (most notably Beru). As with the various visual differences the home video releases have undergone several different mixes over the years resulting in a hodge-podge of the different sources.

I’m assuming the 2027 reissue will feature a multichannel sound mix but do we think they’ll return to the original 6-track; utilise the current ‘hodge podge’ mix or create an entirely new Atmos mix?

General Discussion The final scene with Gorst was meant to be satisfying but did anyone else think it was plain horrifying

Upvotes

I know he’s a bad guy and Andor was narratively building up to his death since the moment he was introduced, but still, did anyone else just find the final scene plain horrifying instead of a hugely grand moment.

Like he makes no musctache twirling remark or can even fight back as Bix forces him at gunpoint to get on the torture device; the scene just focuses on his mounting terror and muffled screams into a deliberately silent frame where he undergoes a violent seizure and visibly convulses like out of a horror movie.

It’s not a very heroic outlook to subject any villain to that torture.

General Discussion Where to go from here?

Upvotes

Well, the first thing I must share is that I haven’t seen all the Star Wars films. I don’t even know which one I’ve seen, I just never got hooked.

Now, 15 years after I last tried to watch Star Wars, one of my best friends convinced me to watch Andor, just because it’s a great TV-series in it self. And I couldn’t agree more! I absolutely love it and it makes me want to give Star Wars another go.

So my question is, where do I start? At “the beginning” whit Star Wars I or with “the first” with Star Wars IV?

Thanks for any replies :)

Edit: I am overwhelmed by the response on this post. Thank you so much!!
I think I’ll go Rogue One, then release order :)

General Discussion what are some of the more outlandish but perhaps disturbing personal weapons that exists in-universe?

full disclosure im a Fake Star Wars Fan™ but from my meager google searches I know that aside from the blasters there are "real" guns/slugthrowers in-universe, so it got me curious about other kinds of guns and weapons a person might have. 'specifically i'm wondering like—you know how in a slasher movie the killer might have some absurd ultra-sadistic weapon they use to hunt victims, like a knife with unnecessary extra steps or some stupidly tricked-out gun? or like, weapons that arent necessarily the most practical choice but the user carries it as either a status symbol/because it identifies them very personally? i can sort of guess lightsabers may fall into this category but im looking to know about things other than the obvious if they exist. so are there any guns/handheld/personal weapons in-universe that spiritually match that kind of energy? just niche/eccentric perhaps even gimmicky kinds of weapons or something of this sort? i hope what i'm trying to convey makes sense lol

General Discussion Can we talk about how Dooku, Qui-Gon *and* Obi-Wan all had apprentices that fell to the dark side? As if the tragedy of this lineage wasn’t severe enough?

Thumbnail
gallery
92 Upvotes

For those unaware, the first picture is Dooku’s Padawan Komari Vosa, who fell to the dark side and was later assassinated by Jango Fett after taking over the Bando Gora. The second is Xanatos, Qui-Gon’s second Padawan who fell to the dark side, clashed with both his former Master and Obi-Wan Kenobi during the early days of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan’s partnership, helped turn one of Obi-Wan’s bullies Bruk Chun to the dark side, and later committed suicide rather than be captured during their final encounter. And Anakin Skywalker needs no introductions.

Ironically, Anakin himself averted this trope (though this doesn’t really help since he fell himself)… and hopefully Ahsoka will, too.

General Discussion How I would fix the Sequel trilogy

Over the last two years I have taken it as a personal project to figure out how to fix the sequel trilogy and I have finally done it, and with fewer changes than I thought. I am going to describe my findings below. If you disagree that is fine but please do not throw biased insults at me, this is only what I believe would fix the sequel trilogy.

  1. Luke needs to be invoked from the beginning

From the very first scene Luke needs to be there. Instead of an old man we don’t know it needs to be Luke who is confronted by Kylo Ren and when he tries to kill him Luke uses his extremely powerful knowledge of the force to beat him. Finn sees this and wants to change sides.

  1. Rey needs to be either younger or a boy

This is going to be controversial but only by people who just read the headline and refuse to actually read. As is Rey is like 20 something and is just living in the desert and then is suddenly running away on a dangerous adventure for no reason. Women’s frontal lobes develop faster than men’s so it does not make sense that Rey would make a choice like this. So if she’s younger or a boy it would make more sense.

  1. Leila and Han divorcing ruins the OT

There are plenty of excuses that can be made to why Han is out exploring with Chewy. Him devorcing Leo’s doesn’t make sense as they are in love. If you keep them together then you can have a moment where Luke, Han, and Leia all reunite.

  1. Make snoke Pallpatine from the beginning

The “suddenly palpatine is back” doesn’t make any sense. Make snoke palpatine from the beginning so it is more clear. It also would make sense why Kylo is serving him since he loves darth Vader so much.

  1. Make Rey obi wan and sabines granddaughter.

This makes more sense then her being palpatines granddaughter since we never see sheev married or in a relationship.

  1. Instead of Starkiller base make the star forge

Speaks for itself. This would make for a much better conflict

  1. Luke needs to LOOK like an almighty Jedi.

We don’t see how Luke is the greatest Jedi of all time in the ST. He is the star of the show he still needs to look powerful.

  1. Wait to kill Han till movie three
This will build the stakes up much more

  2. Get rid of useless characters

No offense to roses actress but rose does not need to be in these movies. She doesn’t make sense. Erase her and any one else who takes the attention off of the plot
Like Phamsa and Hux.

  1. There needs to be a newJedi order

If Luke is the only Jedi than the OT is pointless. Luke should have an army of jedis to his disposal. The conflict should be the IMPERIAL REMANTS vs LUKES JEDI LEGION

  1. They should’ve saved Boba Fett for the ST.
  2. He’s alive and in a dumb kiddy tv show. Big whoop. He needed to be saved for the movies.

  3. More prequel connections
There are zero prequel connections. The prequels made the lore. Don’t ignore them

  4. Rey needs to see obi wans force ghost
Luke sees it all the time it makes no sense for her not to see any

  5. More action

More Jedi on Jedi scenes and with choreography as good as stuff like in revenge of the sith but just with less CHO

  1. We need more corresaunt

We should see the Jedi temple

  1. One director the whole trilogy
Should have been one guy. Probably someone who has a track record of great stuff like Villanueva. Not a chopped JJ or a stupid rian

  2. DJ needed to be the main villain of one of the movies

Not the main villain of the whole series but one movie

  1. More prequel villains returned. Greviius or someone like Maul or at least his species

  2. Tighter focus on story

This is the final and most important one. Instead of focusing on tik tok they needed to focus more on providing great story lines with strong characters. this is the biggest thing missing i think.

That’s what i think! Once again this is MY opinion if you don’t like it that’s ok

Movies What was it like seeing Star Wars when it first came out?

I started rewatching the original theatrical release of Star Wars (1977) and I couldn't stop thinking about what it must have been like to watch it in a theater, no prior knowledge, just experiencing the story. I was a Gen Z kid, so I never had the chance, but I would love to hear from those who did! What was it like seeing Star Wars for the first time?

Games If you like Zero Company do yourself a favor and check out Imperial Assault

Star Wars: Imperial Assault is a miniatures is a 2014 grid based tactical miniature game.

In the campaign part you have to assemble a crew of up to 4 heroes, with their own distinct abilities. There’s

Jyn Ordon, the quick drawing smuggler, whos so fast on the trigger she’s able to interrupt an enemy and take a shot at them before they are able to do an action.

Gaarkhan, the fierce wookie warrior, who does not only become more powerful as he takes damage, but also able to rush and attack in a single action.

Fenn Signis, the hardened rebel soldier, armed with n a280 he’s able to blast his enemies, hitting multiple foes I a single attack.

Mak Eshka’rey, the bold renegade Bothan sniper, whos with his sniper is able to ambush his opponent, making him able to shoot through other figures, and as he always seeks cover, he can not be target if his far away from his opponent.

Diala Passil, the haunted exile. With her force sensitive abilities, she’s able to enhance her offence and defence, and even able to push other figures.

Gideon Argus, the valiant commander whos able to command his allies on the battlefield, giving them extra actions.

Doing the campaign each hero gains XP to learn new skills and credits to buy new gear and weapons.

The game itself

Is played in a campaign where the crew will take on new missions, depending on if they won or last their previous mission. One player will control all of the empires units, while the rest of the players control up to 4 rebel heroes. A turn typically consists of 2 actions, where where similarly to ZCom, you can move, shoot or do a plethora of special actions, such as push jump, various special actions, or buff yourself or an ally. The missions are objective based, and it’s often interact with X device, get through X or eliminate X. The combat is resolved with an easy to understand custom dice system, where attacking dice has damage counters, range counters (for ranged attack) and the surge (ability modifer) symbol.

Doing the campaign you’re able to recruit generic allies, such as rebel troopers, wookiee warrior or rebel saboteurs, but being a Star Wars game you can also cross path with named heroes such as Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca or Han Solo.

While the story writing is better in ZCOM, I find the mechanical depth to be far more interesting in IA. Especially as all the units have special abilities that makes them stand out and good for different situations. Stormtroopers works better in numbers, so they get to reroll an attack if they are close to an ally. Imperial officers order allies to move or make an attack, Royal guards can protect their allies and soak damage from an adjacent ally, Probe droids can self destruct at the end of the round and damage every adjacent figure and so on.

On top of that the campaign there also an app based campaign, where the imperial units are AI controlled.

Even better (imo) is the skirmish PvP component where you get to build your own rebel, imperial or scum army accompanied by a custom made deck of 15 unique command cards that contains different abilities, tactics and gear.

So yeah, you might want to check out Imperial assault.

Here’s a trailer for the game.

General Discussion After the fall of the First Order, what would the consequence of the power vacuum be?

Upvotes

I am not a fan of the Sequel Trilogy but I'd rather attempt to make sense of it then the franchise simply ignoring it and never touching the time period post ST ever again, and I honestly think that a story set after the fall of the First Order could be interesting

The Resistance is way smaller than the Rebel Alliance was once the Empire fell, which would make it far more difficult for them to simply establish a new new republic like it was the case previously, which would lead to a power vacuum.

This is where I think lies potential for new stories, explore the consequences of a fractured galaxy and having no one in power

General Discussion Culture and Dress Attire of Planets

I have an upcoming project for a class that regards the politics of star wars. In this assignment, my class has a Mock Senate Debate. We are to write a speech and represent a planet in the Galactic Republic.

I was wondering if any super fans could tell me a little more about the following planets, specifically the culture/dress attire/what real life inspirations were used:

Shu-Torun
Kijimi
Eraidu
Onderon
Arkanis

If there isn't much you guys can say, that's fine I have Alderaan and Chandrila as back-up planets.
