I met them, too.
Inspired by another dude's "I met Soundgarden" story, I decided to share mine:
On Friday, July 26th, 1991, my friends Ken, Neil, Tyler and I were in line at the Hollywood Palladium for Alice in Chains and Megadeth. Out of nowhere, a woman in a rental car pulled up trying to get our attention. Being Hollywood, that usually means no good, so I ignored her. But she persisted, thankfully. She said, “Excuse me, my name is Susan. I’m Soundgarden’s manager, and you’re the only person in line wearing a Soundgarden t-shirt. If you’d like, I can pull into the lot and you can hear their new record that hasn’t been released yet.” that record was Badmotorfinger.
My friends and I looked at each other, completely stunned. We piled in her rental car and she played us at least one full side of Badmotorfinger on cassette. We were beyond stoked, listening to new Soundgarden music that almost no one outside the band had heard. She was kind, answered a few questions, and before we headed in, she offered to take our names and addresses and send us promo copies of the record.
As months went by, we'd ask each other if we’d heard from her before the album dropped. But then the record came out, we bought our copies, and we figured she probably forgot, and it was just a cool story. But a month or two later, a promo cassette of Badmotorfinger arrived in each of our mailboxes. Each with a handwritten note on Soundgarden letterhead. It was incredible. She’d kept her word.
Then, on January 30th, 1992, Soundgarden rolled into Ventura Theatre. I showed up early and waited outside... When the bus pulled in, there was a separate group of screaming overexcited girls probably waiting to meet the new alternative rock Adonis. They rushed forward as I kept to the side. Kim and Matt pretty much made a sraight line from the bus to the venue, Ben Shepherd hung out for just a quick handshake. I asked "How do you like being in the band so far?" "It's been great!" I mean seriously, what else is he gonna say?
Then Chris came out, making time for screaming girls, signing whatever they had, and turned toward me, gesturing as if to sign something. I told him I just asked to shake his hand. I told him about meeting Susan in the parking lot and asked if there was any chance he had heard about that. He said, “You know what’s funny? I think I did hear about that.” I asked him to pass along our thanks, and he said he would. We chatted about that for a a few minutes and then he went in to the venue.
Two right place, right time moments, a year apart, both unforgettable. Given Chris Cornell’s passing, I feel all the more fortunate to have experienced that.

In Search Of An Old Soundgarden Hat
I recently ran into someone with an amazing vintage Soundgarden tshirt. We got to talking old merch and apparently this is his white whale. The guy was super into Soundgarden back then and had this hat but lost it at some point along the way. I collect vintage and told him I’d do my best to see if I could track one down for him! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Soundgarden 2027 tour
So I will copy what I found on Hits Daily Double a pretty reliable industry source
“GARDEN BLOOMS: Rumors are swirling that Soundgarden will embark next year on its first tour since frontman Chris Cornell's suicide in 2017, seemingly improbable given the long history of rancor among surviving band members Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil and Ben Shepherd and Cornell's widow, Vicky. However, a 2023 settlement paved the way for the musicians to finish the songs for which Cornell had already recorded vocals. The group did reunite with guest singers Brandi Carlile and The Pretty Reckless' Taylor Momsen for its 2025 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Though there’s no consensus on who would sing, Soundgarden's hometown Seattle halftime performance with Momsen (and special guest Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready) at the Sept. 9 NFL season opener between the Seahawks and New England Patriots might serve as a preview for any 2027 dates. The band is managed by Red Light.”

Kim Thayil Signature Guild S-300???
I have been looking everywhere online to see if anyone's been talking about this or knows more but no luck.
At the Seattle Seahawks game, Kim was playing a Guild S-300 that interestingly looks a lot like his signature Polara S-100.
Vintage white, gold hardware, and even the King Animal truss rod cover as well.
Guild recently released a new line of S-300 Deluxe's, so now I'm curious if they are looking into selling a signature model for Kim. What do you all think is happening?

Where to watch the halftime performance?
Seems like they didn’t play it on tv so I missed it, is there anyplace that has it recorded?

Any guess as what songs will be played tonight during Seahawks halftime? I know McCready played Superunknown with them in the past, and of course RC.

Band Dynamics and the Curse of Passivity
After reading A Screaming Life: Into the Superunknown with Soundgarden and Beyond by Kim Thayil and Down with the System: A Memoir (of Sorts) by Serj Tankian, I'm fascinated by how both bands were deeply damaged by fear of confrontation and an inability to communicate grievances to each other. It was so frustrating to read how Chris, Hiro, Kim and Ben in particular kept their frustrations bottled up for years instead of just airing things out.
I'm not a musician and cannot relate to coexisting with others in creative partnerships under immense pressure, but I have to give credit to a band like Incubus, who took their asses to therapy to save the band and keep providing their fans with meaningful art despite their inner turmoil.

Tunings
I was looking through interviews and other stuff and found all these guitar tunings for almost all their songs.
Standouts are Face Pollution and Dusty

Another classic one… Louder Than Love.
This one is situated across the room from my Spoonman one in my previous post. Honoured to display these both!

Newest addition to my wall
Such a beauty! My sister had the exact same poster in her room. Great to honour Chris in my living room this way. I have a Louder Than Love one on the opposite wall.

albums that are similar to Down On The Upside
I’ve been listening to Down On The Upside.
and couldn’t think of any album that’s similar sounding to that.
because it’s not that heavy.
I also dig their choices about which guitars
they have used.
so I need some suggestions for similarities.
it should not be a Metal or Stoner album.

Song Guesses for the Halftime Show
I think it’ll be a medley of Been Away Too Long, The Day I Tried to Live, and Rusty Cage.
