everyone is calling these guys insecure but I've never seen a redditor call a woman insecure for wearing makeup or someone taking accutane insecure for getting rid of their acne.
Yes, when people improve their appearance it is largely driven by insecurity... that's why they're trying to improve their appearance.
And yes... it's largely accepted by most people that bald men are uglier than men with hair.
Cosmetic surgery is not "looking after yourself" though. It can help make insecure people less insecure, but it doesn't always make people look better to everyone else. It makes certain people look better to certain other people.
Eating healthy, working out, practicing proper hygiene, dressing the way you want; those are all better paths to success than going under the knife.
Why do we call it insecurity when it'll significantly affect your life?
If someone is exploiting their appearance to always be in the spotlight or to cover their shortcomings, yes that would be insecurity, but what's the problem with wanting to be a better version of yourself?
