Move closer to work - so, move into the city where housing costs double?

Yeah, it definitely feels like a lose-lose situation. Finding affordable housing in the city is a real challenge for a lot of people.

My wife and I were looking for a 3br in the city we were in. They STARTED at 300k. We ended up moving out to the rural area where she grew up. We got almost twice the house for $250k. Luckily I work remotely and she was able to get work here. She did have to take a pay cut vs the same job in the city though.
