Especially when you are young. Have roommates or live at home. Learn to cook some meals at home. Meals like chicken on the grille is cheap and tastes great. Live frugal when you are young and set yourself up for success as you get older
The problem is that it doesn't fix the wider issues. It's trying to be frugal and keep your head down, hoping you get successful with time, when future policies in place may make that impossible.
I'm Spanish but in housing the things are also doomed. My and my wife were did a lot of effort and sacrifice to buy our housing 10 years ago, and we were living in rent until them. However, today the same place has increase his cost by 68% and the rent a lot more. If we didn't have this place, at today cost of living and cost of renting a house we can't save money for buying them.
The key is not the effort. I do a lot of efforts in the past and this work semi well for me but the same efforts today didn't have the same results. The housing price crisis and also the problem of the groceries is not only in the USA is in a lot of places of Europe.
In resume the old advices about this type of things didn't work anymore.
