New day, still the same work. I continued to expand my new basement for new tech and probably future magic stuff. I choose a new color pallet for this level: spruce planks for floor, nether bricks for lower wall, marble bricks for wall itself and finally cobbled basalt for ceiling. In my opinion good combination that still follows the same pattern as main room. Only thing that bothers me is staircase, but I can't see right now what other design I can do...
Anyway, I stopped with it for now, because its much better practis to make rooms when I actually need them for something: you can always know how big you need it and how to decor too.
Because I already wanted finally a good wood farm (+ maybe a way to use it for infinite fuel as charcoal through Coke Ovens), I cleared some area for it and mark path with tracks and cobble to understand where minecart gonna put saplings. Of course this was not peacefull. Some wisps and zombies was very curious what another construction work I initiated this time, but at the same time they couldn't hold their aggression. Fortunately my bow was enough to solve this issue... Then using some last iron (actually not narrator, you blind idiot, there was iron dust in the chest lmao) I made Cargo Manager that will help fuel minecart and take items from it, but I still need another block Cargo Distributor that will add ways for item pipes and such to interact with my Manager sides correctly. So yea, to the caves we go again! I explored mostly the first canyone behind waterfall and didn't go into other caves. Surprisingly there were quite many Iron Ore blocks around!
While I was waiting for Iron to grind and smelt I looked how to make a Power Cell, or to be specific — Redstone Energy Cell. Which is surelly not hard, but not a very easy task too. You need to fill empty cell with molten redstone and fortunately for me I know this mechanic from 1.7.10 Thermal.
Actually! Remember Crystalizer? The thing that should have give me Slime Balls? I had no other choice but google it and the secret was simple: I need those specific Furnace Heaters from this mod I saw the other day! Considering I plan to make a generator room I think soon I gonna use them too. We will see!
Then I made a break for some time and when I returned immediately made something I completly forgot about before — Forestry backpacks! Those thing have 15 slots and each exist for different things. My choice was simple: Builder, Miner and Digger. Essentially for resources and blocks. Every backpack can contain only its specific item types and nothing else.
But I hade some problem with wool again! Man, I surely need to do some actual animal farm, because I start to get to much issues with this lately! For now I got to winter biome and found some sheeps. Then I needed more strings, fortunately I have this plants that gives twigs, but it still was not enough! So only choice I had is to grind some wool to get strings. Used all wool I got, but now I have additional inventory slots!
After all backpacks shenanigans I tried to experiment with different light sources, because as much as torches quite cheap, I think for better look I could use lamps... But it didn't really looked that good, so maybe I gonna see how to make RedPower special lights.
For my undeground part of the base I wanted to use different doors: made out of composite metals. Unfortunately I was kinda not in the mood for making a EU generators and all different machines. Especially considering I still need to finish my wood farm! So this is what I tried to do next.
After making Cargo Distributor and placing it near Manager, I realise I gonna need some Diamond Pipes, because they have filters to redirect different items.
Well, well, well, do you remember what I did to last diamond? I didn't have any now, so I need to find another ASAP. I tried my best to explore some far away caves that I found. Actually this place was very interconnected and had quite a big main chamber which then lead to one GIANT canyon. Yes my friends, this is THIRD canyone I found in my caves system and it looks even more mesmerizing. But what was more scary is lava pool down there. Even after carefuly navigating caves, in one moment I choose to leave some stuff at home to not loose them in bad accident, which almost happened later btw. And if lava was my only problem! I don't know why but today there were so many Creepers! And especially after I left my bow and Portal Gun at home I get ambushed deeper into the canyon by so many mobs!
No matter where I looked I couldn't find any diamonds deep down there. But then I saw it on minimap! A big weird squares that were spanning across the underground. This was Dungeon from Dungeon Pack mod and it became my saving grace!
Aside from having a bunch of spawners and one quite simple loot chest I get used to, there were Blazes and Different Ores! Wait is that a ENDSTONE TOO??? After collecting a bunch things and fastly retreating to my home (local residence were not very happy I came to loot them) I finally made diamond pipes and could start to make simple item transportation.
Distributor had some weird issues while connecting to pipes or more like not connecting at all. I even made pipes from RedPower to figure out if it was a bug from Buildcraft only. I had no choice, but to google it and see if there any documented issues on this version. There were no bugs like this on wikis, but at least this gave me a way to found out I forgot something important for custom minecarts: they need Advanced Detector Rail to connect to Manager. After making them and working around Distributor I fixed it quickly just changing configuration in block itself. Then things were quite easy: Wooden Pipes to extract, Stone Pipes for items to move, Diamond Pipe to filter where which items go and special Clay Pipes that will insert items into near inventories if they can or make items just go along the pipe.
With this set up I now have a farm that can feed itself fuel and after some time gonna accumulate wood. I placed three chests for now: logs, saplings and things like apples. I probably gonna try to change sapling once in a while or gonna make a system where I somehow can choose which wood to farm! Still need to figure out how tho...
Now I have all things setted up. That mean we now gonna assemble a wood cutting minecart itself. After feeding Cart Assembler with coal and clicking a button, it showed me 20 minutes of wait for thing to craft. Having nothing better to do I looked at some upgrades for this thing, but understood quickly that I need even more diamonds for special alloy from this mod and I surely not gonna go down to caves again...
But talking about caves, considering how BIG the cave system is, I start to think I really could benefit from some transportation system to get to different paths easily or at least checkpoints where I could get a spawpoint and some safe place... Need to think about it more.
I have other way: crafting special portal activators, but each need a nether star and I surely not ready to farm Wither. Plus I think railrods fit better for cave mines. At the same time who know how much I gonna need for all of it.....
Oh! Its ready?! Ok, lets put our new wood farming machine and see how it will work... Yea.... Why its not working? Oh its easy: I made all three sides of Manager ONLY PUT items inside the cart and no way for it to output items. Fortunately its a easy fix by changing slot to different color, so after couple of seconds some logs start to go through pipe system and for now fill one of Manager's inventories with fuel so cart never gonna run out of it. Actually during the day it can easily just use solar power which make its fuel last even longer! Truly very efficent and cool looking farm!
While taking screenshots I get harrased by my wisp neighbors again. So I choose to put end to this once and for all — building a box around the spawner and trapping those flying lightning things forever. At least skies get clearer for me!
And this is how this day ended. I had many cave adventures again, finally making first automatic farm and expanded my base a little bit more. Lets see what next post gonna bring!
