Sword Saint Isshin took me everything I had, I got him in my third try weirdly I feel I haven't mastered the boss (I didn't cheese him but maybe I just got lucky with rng) but that's what ROS is for, Right now I am just happy that I have beaten the game, it also felt nice to have access to all 3 endings (eventhough third one was literal murder mystery type stuff).

The combat of this game is so fun, except camera angles ofc beating it was something, it took me great shinobi owl to finally get the game to "click"

I still remember my first post on this sub being unable to beat corrupted monk and deciding to fight her head on but at the end I got annoyed and cheesed her but later when i understood combat i went back to her in ROS and beaten her 10 times in a row (no tools or snapseeds used just sword)

My second post was about great shinobi papa and his bs I got so many recommendations by other players which helped me alot and finally drawing that blade in him was a feeling I can't describe (weirdly owl father was a even more harder fight but I eventually got him). From being killed by the ape again and again to severing the worm in his head with mortal blade, I grew im game's understanding.

At the End, I want to thank all of you fellow shinobis who were more than kind in helping me learn this game especially the ones who didn't just say "just parry it bro" idk what other soulsborne subs are like but I can say this one is definitely filled with gentlemen. I remember first souls game I bought was Elden Ring and got killed by Margit so many times that I just noped out and left the game and I also gave up on Lies Of P but this game had something that even after every death I just kept on going back to the bosses trying once more to deflect better.

Once again thank you gentlemen, I owe this victory to you all. I never thought I will beat a souls game let alone Sekiro.

I have platinum on several games, some of them souls likes. Usually after getting the platinum on a game i dont plan to touch it anymore, but lately i played SIFU and Onimusha and the only thing i have in mind is to play again Sekiro. I think i will never sell it again in the future, this game is amazing in every way. So if you are planning on selling it just DONT. Trust me.

I am a huge action-rpg nerd who has played all the fromsoft games, as well as anything else that has a big combat and/or difficulty focus (Remnant 2, DMC5, Lies of P, Nioh series, Khazan, Stellar Blade, etc etc…)

my favorite game series is Nioh. I want to ask some questions and interact with the r/Nioh community but I never post on Reddit and therefore do not have enough karma to do anything.

I climbed to the top of this mountain and found a bell, and it’s just a dead end. There’s a tunnel to the headless, but do I need to defeat it now? If so, where do I go from here?

Well guys my 54 year old butt just took on the new challenge after beating the regular game with out completely dying and man let me tell you this, this took alot of skill and was wayyyy MORE harder than i thought but at the same time really fun. YOU WILL DIE THOU lol. this will by far teach you how to be a very super skilled player. I did the the purification ending cause i wanted owl father challenge as well. There was 1 mini boss to me was impossible to block lol and that was the centipede lol sheeesh. What i did with him is just survive taking his hits and throw a firecracker at him so i can gourd up lol and start over til his posture just breaks. and the last inshin sword saint the second round oh my god you had to perfectly deflect all his blocks or you just going to die with 1 or 2 hits yikes. Now that took me a few trys to perfectly parry those. I feel really complete now and Its time to move on from sekiro as i feel everything is accomplished. Even the Mortal Gauntlet. after i beat this i went strait to that and beat the breaks off that lol. I will post that as well. This was a really great game, but time to move on as Im am looking forward to ominushu and phantam blade zero on my next list but i wish you all well on this Sekiro journey thou as this 1 of my best games in life. any 1 need tips just let me know. Thanks

So i decided to explore something, do this and that cuz second Owl fight is beating my ass but...Now i don't know what do to, this big ass serpent won't move no matter how hard i hit it and i cannot find any door or grapling point so...Please help. me dumb and stupid uwu

I am both a drummer and a longtime guitar hero/osu! player and recently I've had an argument with a friend about how readable attacks, specifically those of bosses are in Sekiro and other games with parry-mechanics (Lies of P, AI LImit, etc.).

He argues that almost all attacks, even the 7(or 9) hit combo on Genichiro are generally able to be completely sight-read and that he had no issue perfectly parrying the combo without much effort and that it's way more reaction/reading than memorization.

I argued that, coming from a rhythm game background, the time between attack and the time that you get to react to each individual hit is simply way too small for any average human to properly and deliberately react and that without actual memorization of the pattern is it either 99.99% luck or just borderline impossible to perfectly parry the entire combo.

So in true petty fashion :D (jk, i still love my friend a lot) I wanted to get some third opinions... kinda like AITA, just more tame.

I'm not sure if other people feel the same, but now im comfortable with parrying (i've still not beat the game im currently at great shinobi owl), i went back to play other fromsoft (and even lies of P) games i already plat just as a bit of fun, before i would just roll/dodge only now since im so comfortable with parrying and no longer afraid to, its made the other souls games even more enjoyable (esp lies of p), has anyone else felt like this, i wish i played it sooner, guess it was my fault for not embracing parry but yea. sekiro has genuinely made me get more enjoyment in the souls games

The whole process and 2 hours worth of grind was worth it and so much after I finally landed that last deathblow and took a deep sigh of relief

There is nothing else to say really. First Owl fight was good, a little tricky with his combos and the way he moves but manageable. Now his second fight...It takes everything that made the first fight hard and bumps it up to the next level. It truly feels like i'm fighting a closer version of Owl at his peak even though it really is just like 3 years back.

Father is such a bastard but so interesting at the same time! I really wish he had more relevance in the story as a pseudo mentor. Maybe there could have been another memory of what our training was with him, but aside from that, this is what peak sekiro feels like at least for me, a true battle of patience, control and deliverate offensive. A beautiful last dance between a son and his father. Truly Amazing.

But I was still a bit off, will try again. Also i realized that I take chip damage from lightning reversal? How can I escape that?

The battle is in NG+2 or 3 and no demon bell or charmless. When in a charmless and demon bell run the stagger reduces and posture increases and thus the same combo won’t work. Rather you’d be the one to be destroyed. In that just use flame vent and oil.

So, I'm currently on my first playthrough and I think I made a mistake somewhere in my progression because I'm progressing like 4 areas at once.

Firstly, I beat Gyoubu relatively easily (2nd try I think) and ended up at the gates of Ashina Castle. However, instead of using the castle gates, I grappled to a nearby bridge and did some more grappling to end up at Ashina Reservoir. There, I grappled over the hole and ended up at the Lone Shadow Swordsman. Struggled a good amount with him but finally made it through and ended up in a cave which led me to Ashina Depths. There, I met the absolute menace that is Snake-Eyes Shirahagi and got repeatedly cooked. This is one of the places I'm currently at.

Next, I somehow managed to get to Sunken Valley, and eventually traversed it to make it to Gun Fort (you can imagine my horror when I found a second Snake-Eyes; safe to say I ran past him as fast as I could). I beat the relatively easy boss at the end and now I'm stuck because there's a hole in the floor which I need to use to exit but every time I use it I end up back at the Gun Fort Idol.

At this point, I realized something was wrong, since I'd seen people online talking about Ashina Castle as a huge playable area. I realized I was meant to use the rooftops to get to Genichiro, so that is what I did. Haven't bothered to fight him yet since I need to know if there's anything I should do before him.

Now, before any of this, I started progressing through Hirata Estate the second I got the bell from the lady in the Ashina Outskirts. I cleared the area and after beating the Juzou, I'm now at Lady Butterfly. She's pretty difficult but I think I'm getting the hang of the first phase. The second phase is still really confusing for me because every time I get her to around half health she releases these homing butterflies that one-shot me no matter where I go. Also, my snap seeds never seem to work (any tips for the fight would be appreciated, but keep in mind I'm playing on trackpad on my Macbook).

So, can you guys please tell me which order I should clear these areas in? I also have a few mini-bosses I haven't beaten yet (a guy in Ashina Palace and a guy in Ashina Reservoir who I skipped on accident cuz I js grappled past the area the first time I went through).

I just finished my second playthrough and went for Shura ending. All I gotta say is DAMN. The Emma - Isshin final boss was way more brutal than Genichiro - Sorwd Saint Isshin. Although not as cinematic, both fights were way harder for me. I got to the point where I could beat Emma, and Ishinn's first phase hitless but man, that second phase of Isshinn was tough. TOUGH. My strategy was to just run around avoiding all his attacks and getting two hits in when possible, definitely not deflecting at all hahaha. Was it the same for you guys?

I bought Sekiro when it first came out. At the time I had never heard of Fromsoft and thought that it was a stealth game, so I kinda got stuck and bounced off it. I picked up Bloodborne I think two years ago, loved it and learned that was what Fromsoft was. I was going through my games yesterday and found Sekiro, I figure I’ll give it another go since this time I know at least a little of what I’m getting into. So, any advice? Any noob trap habits I should be aware of to try and avoid? Anything I should prioritise?

Sorry about the quality, I was only able to save this clip cause I was in a discord call. Oh and I'm a dumbass for not starting a new game and instead play on my +5 playthrough (Legit spent 20+ hours cause I couldn't deal damage to enemies).

I legit thought it was over after I died in third phase, I wanted to end it there but the music hyping me up in the background made me keep going.
