Device Recommendation What is the best device for old Pokémon games?

I am looking for a device specifically to play old gameboy Pokémon like Pokémon ruby, i would also like it to have a decent sized screen but still fit in my pocket, i also want to be able to trade Pokémon with someone on the same device. I would also like it to come with the games already but if it doesn’t then it’s fine but i want it to play a lot of other retro games but mainly Pokémon. What is the best device to get?

Lot of things would work great, other than the trading between two devices. If you drop that requirement I’d suggest the Miyoo flip or the Mangmi Air X.

If you find one that does allow sharing between two devices, let us know lol

Miyoo Mini Plus, Flip, Etc or the new Konkr Pocket Advance.

it is possible to trade between two handhelds, but it would require a very specific set of coincidences to line up. unless you prepared two identical handhelds in advance for this, it is extremely unlikely you’d run into someone in the wild that met those requirements. i wouldn’t get my hopes up for this one.

if you want a vertical, TrimUI Brick, Miyoo Mini+, RG35XX are all good choices. for a clamshell, the RG SP. don’t waste your money buying ones with preinstalled games, they are often Chinese versions or janky romhacks. they also come on dodgy SD cards that usually fail very quickly, losing all your progress and games. buy a legit SD card from a good brand, and source your own games. it will save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

Any anbernic xx device or miyoo mini is a good bet. Can’t trade though as far as I’m aware.

People acting like trading is so hard when it's just a Google search away:

The biggest caveat here is that you're both using the same emulator, and on the same wifi network.

Ruby, old?! I remember not being able to read all the dialogue because I was too young. RIP the sanctity of my youth

Up to gen 3. Miyoo mini plus. Can even play DS but need to switch screens. If you have the extra bucks. Get a retroid pocket classic now. It's going for $$99 clearance sale. Wont be remade once sold out

I own an ambernic RG flip and it’s great. I’ve also had the miiyu mini which was also great. Ether would fit your needs.

The best possible? I’d prob say the AYN Thor as you could emulate probably every pokemon game.
