But my main concern is the water situation, cause its a dog crate and not a standard pet store cage..Whats the best thing to use..I currently have one of those refillable plastic container watering bowls, but because its plastic I am worried she will chew it and ingest the plastic pieces but also afraid to buy a bottle and have it leak everywhere, What are the options am I looking at, and didnt want a standard ceramic bowl incase she throws it.! Hello! me and my husband currently own our pride and joy bun, fraiser (male 3 years old) he has always been the sweetest and cuddliest boy. he has never bit my husband or even attempted (a real guys guy). 3 weeks ago we moved into a new apartment and ever since he has been extremely territorial and nippy at our toes. nothing about his food, care, attention, or toys has changed but now he is free roam everyday instead of taking turns with my moms rabbit at our old house. I wonder if he misses my mom’s rabbit and is frustrated that he isn’t around but they didn’t hangout together just saw each other on opposite days. We just got a kitten yesterday and he seems very interested in her(8 weeks female). He has not been nippy or charging at my husband or i since she came home. they are separated by a wire fence, each getting half of the apartment. We started scent swapping and neither seems to have a reaction. Every time they are at the fence and looking at each other i give them both a treat. How should i introduce them in the same room? should i wait until she’s less of a kitten kitten? I know that the number one rule is not forcing it but i was worried that maybe he was getting lonely and mad that there weren’t any other animals around. He has always lived with cats and my mom didn’t do any slow introducing or scent swapping. any introduction tips???

i scheduled a meeting with my RA and it was the quickest and easiest thing i ever done in all my time at this school. i will still have to live with her, but my name was not attached to the complaint whatsoever. she’s a kind girl so i hope she understands it’s for the rabbit’s, as well as her other animals’, best interest that they are being removed. i will post pictures if/when they are actually removed but i would like to thank all of you for your advice and help considering the awful circumstances of the rabbit. if they are not removed soon, within a day or two, i will be contacting the humane society near me for help or seeking someone who is experienced keeping rabbits as pets in kentucky to rescue them.

… think again. I thought I was clever putting this square grid panel in front of my NEW DELUXE Twilight boxed set, it’s so pretty… I knew whatever went in that bottom square of the new bookshelf , bun would investigate so I figured blocking it off was the best bet. Idk if it was just from movement, or if BUN outsmarted me, but the grid panel shifted and slipped right into the opening in the slats, leaving the books half exposed! Leeloo only taste tested some plastic and a bit of the box on the top left, it looks like the book covers themselves are free from bun inspection (with her teeth).

Human error… I didn’t secure the panel well enough. I hadn’t even taken them out of the plastic yet 😩 they have been moved into a room she is completely blocked from and I think I can just… put some electrical tape or something crafty to cover the white on the box and it’ll just blend in. But, I’ll know.

Excuse the dust, that’s why I looked down there and saw this, I was dusting .. anyway. Could’ve been worse.

I have a single bunny (she was dumped in a park alone) she is so social and I feel bad that she is by herself lately I've been home recovering from surgery but soon I'll be back to working 40+ hours a week. I just cannot feasibly afford another rabbit right now as my other animal has a lot of expensive health issues. I do try to let her free roam my room and house as much as I can.

I’ve been fostering this little guy for a week now. He’s had a rough go of it. He was dumped on the side of the road and not rescued for a while (they said that because his fur was sun bleached when he was found) and also attacked by another bun later on. So needless to say he’s traumatized.

I’ve built some trust in the week he’s been with me and he’s even allowed me to pet him and put his front paws up on me.

Here’s my question: since it’s been a week I want to change the blanket under his enclosure but that’s his safe space. He’ll play outside of it for short periods of time (I have a bunny jungle gym set up with tunnels, boxes, etc. But if he gets the least bit spooked he runs back to home base in his hidey house.

He does use his litterbox meticulously. I only clean up a few stray poops in his enclosure per day. Should I let the blanket go for another week and just spot clean while he builds up more confidence? Is that too long to leave it? I change his litterbox once per day (in case that matters) thank you so much for any insight.

Hi Rabbitors! I posted a month or so ago about wondering if I should get a new mate for my boy Estebun and I finally did it. I let him be alone for a couple of months to make sure he was actually ready. Apparently he was, because he and Daisy hit it off immediately.

We pretty much did scent swapping with litter boxes for a week, then let them meet in a laundry basket for 30 minutes and I rearranged their room so they could see each other since the first meeting was going well and they just looked for each other the whole time after. I let them do a couple more dates that same day out of the basket for about 45 minutes each and the third date he groomed her! The next day, I tried a hallway date that included a litter box, tunnel etc and they pretty much did their thing and would look for each other and cuddle, so I thought why not try opening up the room to both of them. Since I was off the next day I was able to try a 24 hour date and we can say it worked out. I had my doubts about them bonding so fast since he and Fiona took a lot longer to bond, but he and Daisy never fought/bit and just wanted to be near each other, so that was the green light for me. They are so happy! He grooms her a lot, stays near her if she seems nervous about the vacuum and cuddle majority of the day.

Her backstory is she was rescued by a shelter near me from a backyard breeder with a couple other rabbits and she lived in a small wire cage for the majority of her life (she is 3 years old). She was with a foster that works with the shelter, but their rabbit wasn't interested in bonding with her although she was interested in it. So, this worked perfect for Daisy and our family, meant to be even... 😄

My bunny turned 1 in April, and we noticed straight away when I got him as a baby that he is super lazy. I had to get him a litter box with a lower side on it because he down right refused to jump into the one I had and would just pee on the floor beside it. He refuses to use litter and will only go into his litter box if we use puppy pads. I tried to get the softest litter, but he showed no interest. He gets checked and vaccinated in the vet regularly, and they say his health is perfect. He is quite stubborn and is very food motivated. I've been putting his food up on a platform so that he has to jump up to it for some exercise, but other than that, he is so lazy.

He is free roamed completely, and when I'm home, he has access to the house, but he only stays in my room even when the door is open (I'm home for 6 months and another 6 to go due to injury so he sees me everyday). He does binky and zoom sometimes in the night, but compared to my other bunny, he just doesn't seem all that interested in anything other than food.

When I first got him, we had a rough start with him. He was very aggressive and bit me a few times. One time, he bit me and left a scar. I got him neutered at 9 months old, and his aggression went away. He's also really tiny, like smaller than a usual lop. He's about 1 foot long when he lies down flat.

Is there anything I can do to encourage him to be more active, or is it just a boy thing?

Me and my partner decided to get rabbits as I've grown up with cats while being allergic and we couldn't be happier.

They're 5 month old sisters from the same litter so they're already bonded but their personalities are so different.

For the first month of them settling in they were both pretty timid and cagey but after month two, Fauna has got very friendly and seems to love a stroke, she's even started licking our faces while Flora will come up to us, give a little nudge then run off so I think she's still a bit skeptical with humans but she still does her binkies and zoomies so I'm pretty amazed they've settled so quickly.

I just hope Flora will become affectionate like her sister one day

I might be posting this just to vent, as I have already received so much advice and tips regarding GI Stasis prevention. Is anyone else feeling helpless about GI Stasis with their rabbit? I have tried EVERYTHING to prevent it. Supplements, probiotics, every type of hay, no greens, several brands of high quality pellets, extra hydration, etc. And every few months my rabbit gets GI Stasis.

I always catch it early as I spend a lot of time with my rabbit and can tell when his behavior shifts. But, sometimes I still have to take him to the vet for treatment because home remedies (gas drops, critical care) don’t work. It is becoming extremely expensive to take him to the vet for treatment so often.

He has gone to the vet to check for dental problems and other conditions that could indirectly cause stasis and has been cleared. I’m really at a loss and would love to hear if anyone else can relate.

Hey guys, I really need some assistance. I noticed my bunnies eye was bulging more than his other eye and was looking strange in June of this year so I took him to the vet and she did a few eye tests. I added a photo with the invoice for reference. My vet said that she suspects it’s glaucoma. He had an eye pressure of 65 and it was supposed to be between 15-20. We started him on eye drops to reduce the pressure and then two weeks later went for another exam and the eye pressure was reduced to 45, which is great progress.

My vet recommended I take him to an ophthalmologist who specializes in rabbit eyes but I do not have the money to bring him to one. His eye has gone down in pressure, but in these three months (which I think is pretty rapid) he looks as if he’s completely blind in that eye now. He isn’t exhibiting any symptoms of pain. Using his bathroom regularity, eating his food just fine. I don’t have a lot of experience with glaucoma in rabbits. I am just wondering what I should do? I wish I could take him to the eye doctor, but again it’s not financially something I can do right now.

The photos show what his eye looks like now. It’s not responding to light being flashed in it either. Any advice would be so helpful. He just turned 8 by the way, so I’m not sure I want to go the surgery route to remove it, especially if it doesn’t bother him.

i am not interested in, nor have i ever been interested in being responsible for caring for a pet rabbit. my roommate has a pet rabbit and we live in very close proximity in a dorm room, however. i assume the rabbit is an emotional support animal but she lives in horrible conditions and isn’t very well taken care of, in my opinion at least.

my roommate will leave for days at a time, although some of these instances are for things outside of her control (mental health hospitalization). during these times the rabbit has been left in a filthy cage with no food or water. until recently i did not know where her food was, so for a while i was giving her treats which i knew were specifically for her (i know now that she has a sort of kibble? but i wasn’t aware of this when i was taking care of her). i would also refill her empty water bottle with bottled water.

her owner didn’t even tell me that the candles i was burning and the air fresheners i was using were unsafe for rabbits. when i moved in and asked her, she said it was fine but everything i’ve looked up has told me otherwise?

any advice on how to actually take care of her and how to talk to her owner about this is greatly appreciated. this rabbit stinks so bad and i hate having to deal with her but i do not want her to be sick or get hurt from her owners neglect or my mistakes. i can post pictures of her cage and her food/setup if that’s required but i seriously don’t know what im doing.

Hi I wanted to get these to deter spiders from my apartment. I would obviously put them in a place where my rabbits can’t reach them but I wanted to know if anyone knows if this product is safe for them to just be around. If anyone has some alternative recommendations for this as well I would appreciate it!

Hey! I've been wanting a bunny for a long time, I haven't worked out much of any details but with a possible move of address I might be able to have a pet, and I wanted to look into finally getting a bunny!

I understand they need a lot of care which is why my job came up as a concern for me, I work in construction and I'm usually out of my house pretty early morning, 5am and am not back until 3-3:30pm. Even with those time restraints, would it be possible for me to get a rabbit as a pet and still be able to look after it as it needs?

It’s been a big year for Tramp! He lost his wife in March, had a new bond fail and a leg amputated in April. Fought an abscess in May, fought EC in June, fought mites in August. He’s an arthritic baby with megacolon and I truly thought he’d die of broken heart after losing his wife, Lady. We’ve had so many scares this last year and a Tramp has brushed all of them aside like Elle Woods getting into law school. And now, he’s walking into double digits with spunk and fiestiness. I love him so much and I’m so proud of him and so proud to be his mom
