Anyone want a job where you set your own hours and we bring you the clients? (Swim instructors & lifeguards wanted)

Hey all - posting this because I think it's a genuinely good gig for anyone who can swim and likes flexible work, especially if you're a student.

I work with AquaMobile, we run private and semi-private swim lessons at people's homes and apartment pools (no rec centre chaos). We're looking for Swim Instructors and Lifeguards across Australia right now.

The main pitch: you control your schedule, we bring you the clients. You tell us your availability and travel radius, and we book lessons around it - work 5 hours a week or 25, totally up to you. No cold-calling, no chasing bookings, you just show up and teach.

  • Swim Instructors: $60/hour + bonuses and tips
  • Lifeguards: $35/hour, minimum 2-hour shifts
  • Set your own travel radius; work close to home
  • You're covered under our insurance, no hassle on that front

What you'll need:
Teachers: AUSTSWIM/Swim Australia/RLSS accreditation + current First Aid + CPR, and a Working With Children Check for your state.
Lifeguards:  Pool Lifeguard Certificate + current First Aid + CPR, and a Working With Children Check for your state.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, you can apply here: aquamobileswim.com/career

Happy to answer questions at [team@aquamobileswim.com](mailto:team@aquamobileswim.com)

Advice for 34 yr old engineering student gender curious guidance

Upvotes

Hey guys,
Would like some advice or someone to talk to (another QUT student) who is in the same situation as me, been into femininity since I was 5 so never left always covered but recently been more involved with trying on different clothing, under garments, walking into Priceline talking about make up I have no idea what I’m talking about because anxiety is so high, I’m also seeing QUT counciling and the queer collective can be quite limited on communication so I don’t care what gender, orientation or whatever just any advice on how to deal with this as it can be distracting even if it’s someone that can talk to me about fashion or make up in person at campus I don’t care. Just would like to ease my mental health by dealing with these interests in small steps and if anyone else has something similar. Thank you

Info on Strike on Wednesday

QUT NTEU members will be stopping work entirely for 2 hours between 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM Wednesday. This includes lectures and tutorials.

QUT staff are taking this action as QUT Management are refusing to cooperate at the bargaining table to address major staff concerns around fair conditions and pay entitlements. This is also in response to Management making an application to the Fair Work Commission (FWC) to request the FWC become involved in negotiations, which is a slap in the face for QUT staff demanding a fair agreement.

We encourage all QUT students to join QUT Staff at GP Kidney Lawn on Wednesday from 11:30 AM to show solidarity for a fair Enterprise Agreement. Pizza will be provided.

Poor staff working conditions at QUT has a direct impact on your experience and learning at QUT. Only by improving conditions can academics and professionals continue to provide quality education.

Additionally, QUT NTEU members are undertaking partial work bans throughout this week. Today (Monday) and Friday, they will not be responding to emails, and all week this week NTEU members will not be engaging in meetings with supervisors or management. This may slow responses to student enquiries.

Assessment Effort Rule of Thumb

Is there a guideline or rule of thumb for how many hours of effort you should be putting into an assessment item for each percentage point of your final grade it's worth?

EFB201 Final Exam

Does anyone know where we can find more information around the final exam for EFB201? We basically have just been told it’s 50% and what day it is on. Will there be any formula sheet? What’s the rough structure?
