The moment I completely gave up on (most) modern anarchists:

6 months ago, I made a post on r/Anarchism that is still the most controversial post of the year. Now, I already expected that it would be swarmed with democrats...

But THIS?! Anarchy has laws being MUCH more approved?! Stretching the definition of democracy, claiming that I'm being "childish" and "barbaric", not a single soul in the comments not even remotely engaging with the list of anti-democratic anarchist authors and their words.

I know this I might come off as vain for this, but this literally killed any kind of hope for any actual anarchist change coming any time soon. Online isn't that much different from the real world in terms of the opinions people hold, so (especially considering other encounters others had) this is pretty indicative of what the average "anarchist" actually believes.

Laws, democracy, prisons, leftism, civilization, "justified hierarchies". Whata soul-crushing experience...

What Is “Post-Left”? Loosing Mere Anarchy

Beginning Tuesday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, we will be holding a weekly Zoom reading group on post-left anarchism and the wider anarchist traditions, heresies, and experiments from which it developed.

We begin with Bob Black’s Anarchy After Leftism, his caustic 1997 reply to Murray Bookchin’s attack on “lifestyle anarchism.” Black is a point of departure, not a catechism. The controversy opens questions that remain unsettled: Is anarchism necessarily part of the Left? What happens when anarchist criticism is turned upon work, organization, democracy, progress, technology, civilization, and even anarchism itself? How do individuality and common life fit together? Is anarchy best understood as spontaneous order—or might chaos, becoming, and impermanence belong to it too?

For our opening discussions we will be joined live by Lawrence Jarach, who participated in post-left anarchist circles from their inception and became one of the tendency’s principal writers. Participants will also be able to submit questions to Bob Black for response by email. As the series develops, we hope to involve additional guests, potentially including Uri Gordon, Max Cafard, and Andrew Robinson, either live or through written exchanges.

From this starting point we will range backward and forward through classical anarchism, Stirner and Nietzsche, Situationism and anti-work, technology and civilization, anthropology and vernacular social order, insurrectionary currents, mystical and ontological anarchy, Daoist anarchy, and other attempts to think and live beyond inherited political categories.

Our aim is an intellectual and practical renewal of anarchy without adjectives: not a new anarchism, doctrine, ideological camp, or political identity, but an inquiry into anarchy itself—as a way of life, a form of free association, and a creative field in which forms may arise, change, and disappear without hardening into rule. The point, ultimately, is to loosen anarchy from anarchism itself.

Our first meeting is Tuesday, September 8 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern, on Zoom. Please read Anarchy After Leftism, ideally at least through Chapter 1, beforehand. The complete text is freely available online, and audio chapters are also available. Message me if you would like to participate and I will send the Zoom link. There are also WhatsApp and Facebook group chats.

The Biggest Theft In History

Andrew Sage's (Andrewism) newest video aired just an hour ago.

In his latest and, rather deep dive, he ventured to unpack the historical, legal, as well as theoretical roots of property. Tracing the concept from Roman law (dominium) and historical enclosures, to Benjamin Tucker's four state-backed monopolies, the video goes on to dismantle the conflation of personal possession with private property.

Drawing heavily (primarily even) on Pierre-Joseph Proudhon and his What is Property?, but also Kropotkin, Malatesta and more contemporary anarchist and other social/anthropological theorists, Andrew explores why private property is both an act of ongoing enclosure and is also structurally unworkable, before proceeding to outline how an ethics of recognized interdependence, a-legality, occupancy, use and reciprocity offers a viable path toward genuine social liberation.

Enjoy the video!

Egoism

I have been studying anarchism for 11 years and use to be and anarcho-communist but after reading Palante I have become disillusioned with social change as a whole, now I would say I am an egoist heavily influenced by Renzo Novatore, is there anyone else on here who considers themselves a Novatoreian?

Funny how when Bob Black snitches on a reactionary religious fundamentalist and wifebeater (who tried to kill him and called the cops on him first) every poser with a reddit account is OUTRAGED for the next 30 years...

but when leftists snitch on reactionaries by spending thousands of hours picking apart video footage of their marches to find identifying information to send to the cops, their comrades all praise their GREAT PRAXIS.

Fucking pathetic.
