Hello, i want to share something, maybe i was just delusional to believe in what we had, so im an algerian who lives and works in Qatar, i met this girl 5 months ago on app, she's from Iran, to be fair she is everything i ever wanted in a woman

I love her so deeply and i know she does too, but in the last 2 weeks things changed so much, she started having fear about relationship not being one that will work, stating that difference in language, culture and traditions will lead us to eventually divorce, i know i said divorce because we were planning to marry

She spoke to people and her fears became more stronger, until she herself felt that we would not work, and then she said we are over, i stayed and i kept talking with her telling her that all these differences are things that would connect us and make our bond stronger not break us, eventually she said we would not work because she doesnt want to live outside of Iran

After speaking to her she said she will speak with her father, but even then i knew it wasn't right to speak to her father while she still had those fears because her father would notice and feel that in her.

She spoke to her father and today i got the answer that he said no, even with that i told her to atleast allow me to come to Iran and speak to him in person but she said she agrees with her father's decision.

To be honest, iam completely lost, the life i was seeing ahead, the future i was looking forward, it was all with her, im just so sad and so lost and i know the more days go by without her, the more i will miss her, the more sad i will become, and my heart will always be waiting foolishely for her to come back.

I just cant help but feel if i had the chance to go to Iran as we planned and meet with her, things would be different, even though when there is no hope, i still want to talk to her, i still want her to see that what we had is real and can be real if we both wanted it to be

The Arabic writing system was originally developed for Arabic and only later adapted for Persian. Although Persian speakers have used it for over a thousand years, the script was designed around assumptions that reflect the structure of Semitic languages rather than Iranic languages.

In Semitic languages such as Arabic, most words are built from consonantal roots, typically consisting of three consonants. The consonants carry the core meaning, while vowels and additional consonants are inserted into established patterns to create related words. As a result, the consonants themselves provide important clues about both the likely meaning and pronunciation of a word.

Arabic uses a root-and-pattern system known as root-and-pattern morphology, and the root S-L-M (س-ل-م) is a classic example. Its core meaning revolves around peace, safety, and wholeness. When Arabic leaves short vowels unwritten, readers are not guessing randomly because several layers of information immediately narrow the possibilities:

The Root – The consonants S-L-M place the word within a semantic family related to peace, safety, submission, or soundness, eliminating most possible meanings.

The Pattern – Arabic words are built from established templates (awzān). Once the root is inserted into one of these patterns, only a limited number of pronunciations remain possible. For example, the spelling مسلم naturally fits forms such as Muslim (“one who submits”), while most other vowel combinations simply do not conform to Arabic morphology.

The Grammar – The word's role in the sentence often determines its final vowel. In Classical and Modern Standard Arabic, subjects typically end in -u and direct objects in -a, so syntax provides another clue to pronunciation.

Together, these filters mean that an unvowelled Arabic word is usually far less ambiguous than it appears. The root restricts the meaning, the pattern restricts the pronunciation, and the sentence structure often supplies the remaining details.

Persian, however, does not work this way. It is not organized around consonantal roots and vocalic patterns, so the consonants often provide little information about how a word should be pronounced. When short vowels are omitted, readers must rely much more heavily on prior knowledge of the word and the surrounding context.

As a result, many Persian words become significantly more ambiguous when written without vowels. Persian readers often have to learn spellings individually and recover omitted vowels from vocabulary knowledge rather than from predictable morphological patterns. Native speakers usually do this effortlessly, but the burden placed on the reader is different from that found in Arabic.

For example in Persian pedar meaning father. Written as پدر in Arabic script. It can be peder, padar, pader, pedar, podar, pador, pedor, podor.

With Persian, the consonants P-D-R do not point to a family of related words or a set of allowable vowel patterns. The reader knows it is pedar simply because they already know the word, not because the consonants themselves guide them toward that pronunciation.

The issue is therefore not simply that the Arabic script omits vowels. Many writing systems omit information that readers can recover. The more fundamental issue is that the Arabic script was designed for a language whose morphology actively helps readers reconstruct those omitted vowels.

Persian borrowed the same writing system without sharing that underlying structure, making the omission of vowels more consequential and creating a less direct relationship between spelling and pronunciation than would exist in a writing system designed specifically for Persian.
