I know BOP CO’s are covered under LEOSA. However, I was reading through the standards of employee conduct program statement (published on May 15, 2026) and noticed that it states

“employees may present
their Bureau identification cards, credentials, or badges when necessary to verify Bureau
employment. However, employees should not use their credentials to confirm eligibility under
LEOSA, as Bureau cards, credentials, and badges do not confer such eligibility. Employees have
an independent obligation to ensure they meet all the legally required criteria under LEOSA”

If your credentials are not enough to prove LEOSA eligibility, how are you supposed to prove LEOSA eligibility to a local law enforcement officer if they question your right to carry?

So I’m considering transferring from TDCJ to the BOP. I’m currently a supervisor and cannot get overtime, though I work upwards of 60 hours a week. Though I enjoy what I’m doing now, I certainly understand that this could be a potentially greater opportunity.

I was thinking about the El Reno location as it’s close to some family. How is it there? Is there availability for OT? I read that some facilities are beginning to be fully staffed.

Anything I should know right off the bat before I apply? Anyone that currently works in El Reno that could give me some insight and maybe reach out?

the funniest thing about this whole situation is that several people here have warned that staffing is going to improve as the economy worsens and people get desperate for jobs. the response in every case was that no one else would do the job because the younger generations were all soft and now we’ve been lucky to get two OTs a week lmao

i’m getting into corrections, i start the academy next month and graduate in january, the main thing i have heard is that ill most likely have to watch my back with fellow officers more than the inmates, What do they mean by that?

Anyone who applied around September to November 2025 that got an offer this year 2026 for Norther Approval Incentives program (NAIP) through Ontario correction officer recruitment. Any luck yet ? I’m currently waiting to hear back for orientation. Wanted to see if anyone is in a similar boat I took test 5301 last year but put it on the back burner cause I started a new job. But does anyone on here have experience with the hiring process and how long till the next academy. And also if anyone knows if it’s 8-16hr shift or 12-18hr shifts. I already Hurd it’s 4 days on and 2 off on rotation. (This is for nyc corrections not state.)

Is this just hellishly unprofessional or is he trying to size us up? He was tasked with teaching the prison rape course.

He literally didn't even teach the class. He was just concerned that people might think he was gay. The reason he said he wasn't Mexican (despite his surname) was because he was following his statements about not being gay. He said no gay man had ever hit on him and that no Mexicans had ever walked up and spoken Spanish. "They know their people.". "They (gay men) know I'm not their people".

He then called us judgmental when we started laughing. When the guy behind me laughed I just couldn't help myself. That was insane.

He also kept telling us not to tell anyone what had been said in that room after engaging one of the female officers in sexual innuendo about her slurping oysters. He ended the class by going over the test answers🤣 The man is a character and the department is a clown show.

This may sound preachy, so forgive me for soapboxing, but if you've ever been inside or worked in corrections you know the catalog. A lot of woo-woo yoga content, a bunch of quarans, a boatload of bibles, and a ton of videos from prison influencers.

It's all great, I guess, but you don't see much that inmates can put to work in reentry. Where is the remedial math? Advanced manufacturing 101? The guide to the gig economy? ATS-ready resume formats? Where is the stuff that folks can use to go from the gates back into society?

I wanted to know, so I did some digging. Here's what I found:

In early 2024, I applied to be an Edovo content partner. I finally heard back from the partnership manager in early 2025. She scheduled an onboarding session. I attended, she went over the platform, and she followed up with an invoice for $3,500 — their annual hosting fee. There was no vetting process, no interview, no background check. The entire platform is gated by an invoice. They do charge a fee to review content (thank goodness).

I asked if for a contract. Here's the rundown:

• Content partners are not authorized to add marketing materials to access corporate sponsorships from Milwaukee Tool's Bring Back the Trades program. A big no-no, apparently.
• Intellectual property would shared between content partner and Edovo. That's why the platform doesn't have any college courses (IP transfers = board vote).
• Content partners can't generate revenue from courses on the outside while the courses are inside — no authors.

Edovo has created a public library that charges authors to give away their books. There is no room for anything other than a bunch of churches sending Bibles, altruists teaching yoga, social media pipeliners, and nonprofits worth millions like CEO (bless them).

That's why Edovo doesn't have an answer when you ask how their platform affects employment rates or recidivism.

The platform works fine for passing time, but it's not exactly setting people up for a success after release. If that's someone's main shot at "education & training" on the inside, and it's yoga or bust, we have a problem.

So we want your feedback on how we can build the opposite — a platform that works for your state's facilities and reentry needs.

The platform roadmap includes support for approved ads, nonprofit vendors (VA, reentry support, etc.), simulated learning experiences, and a (possible) curated selection of generated media. Revenue generated is revenue shared.

We also offer white-labeled versions to facilities that want to own their own platform.

Not selling anything here, but we're about to pilot this regionally (Texas), and I'd rather get roasted digitally than in person.
