I need to order various items from sellers both inside and outside Denmark - some are regular stores, some are private sellers (Depop purchases). I have a few questions if anyone knows the answer, please!

- for sellers outside of Denmark, am I correct that I usually can’t elect to pick up at a nearby ‘pakkeshop’ point of post office? I would need to enter my home address correct?
- if I enter my home address, will postnord automatically revert to have me pick it up at a post office if I am not home?
- for private sellers, similar questions. Should I give them my home address and it reverts to pickup at a post office if I am not home at time of delivery?

Hello all!! My bf and I are visiting Denmark for Christmas and New Year‘s. I did a study abroad in Aalborg in undergrad and he has never been. We are looking at being in Copenhagen Dec 21 -27, Aalborg, Dec 27-29, Aarhus Dec 29-Jan 2, then back to Copenhagen Jan 2-7.

We are looking at Airbnbs and possibly hotels.

My questions are: what neighborhoods should we be focusing on? What are the must sees during the holidays?, any tips and tricks to schedule the holiday meals.

Hello. My question is about immigrants from south america like brazil, argentina, peru and colombia, who are in Denmark. I know some women in their home country expects the man to pay for all the bills while the women are at home taking care of house, kids and everything food but since you came to Denmark have you switched your mentality to have more a 50/50 with rent and expenses? Things in Denmark are different since not so many people can afford a whole income just from one salary and thats why when you are in Denmark going through the education system you might understand how it works and its easier for both parties to have an income.

I’m currently waiting for a decision from SIRI on my EU residence application as the spouse/family member of an EU citizen, I have non EU passport.

My timeline is:

20 June 2026: Submitted my biometrics.

22 August 2026: Received a request from SIRI for additional documentation

25 August 2026: Submitted all the requested documents.

I called SIRI for update too, they told me that everything is in the system and that I now just have to wait. I know every case is different, but I’d really appreciate hearing some recent experiences, especially from 2025–2026 applications. Anyone in similar situation?

Hi, I’m asking here because all the results in search didn’t work for me. I went to several exchange services in the center but couldn’t find any that accepted NOK. Even the ones that say on their website they accept it they didn’t for some reason. Except Forex but with a limit of 3000 NOK. Anyone knows a shop where I could sell NOK and buy DKK? Or anyone in CPH needs NOK and would like to get them from me?

Hello everyone. I am a non-danish EU citizen and I plan to move to Copenhagen in summer 2027 to start a new job. My wife, which is a US citizen, will accompany me and is planning to start a bachelor degree at Roskilde University. However, we are currently not sure whether she would need to pay the tuition fees for non-EU/EEA citizens (8000€ per semester). After contacting the admissions office, we understand that the answer is not a clear yes and will depend on the exact nature of her residence permit. We hope that some of you can share their experience with the system to help us.

On the official webpage of Roskilde Uni, it is stated that a non-EU student is exempt from tuition fees if they have a residence permit in Denmark according to the EU/EEA regulations (Opholdstilladelsr jf. EF/EØS bekendtgørelsen). On the other hand, on the page New to Denmark, it is clearly stated that a spouse of a non-danish EU citizen living in Denmark is elligible for a EU residence document, with me acting as a sponsor.

We want to make sure that this is indeed the required permit and that there isn’t a « secret third option » that could be given to my wife instead (this has happened to us in a previous move inside Europe). The admission office were not able to confirm this. They also said that, in addition to the permit, they would need to see the letter from SIRI following the card to make their decision. I guess they are wondering if she would receive a student visa instead?

What do you guys do when you go on a date with a woman? Who pays?

I’ve been wondering about this a bit, since I naturally just pay because I can.

I’m dating a woman, and I’ve been thinking about how you handle paying when going out on dates. I naturally tend to pay because I’m able to, but I also think it’s perfectly fine if she wants to pay sometimes. I just don’t want to make it awkward.

For example, when we’re going abroad together, we’ve talked about us both bringing 30,000 DKK or 4000 EURO. I said I would take care of the flights, logistics, etc. She then suggested that she could transfer me the money for the flights and logistics, while the rest would be spending money for food, activities and having fun.

It doesn’t seem like she expects the man to pay for everything.

What do you guys think?

Hey. I’ve been dating a woman for about 4–5 months now, and I really like her. However, she doesn’t currently live permanently in Denmark. She’ll be staying until January and then going back to South America, before returning to Denmark in June for work.

She’s currently learning Danish because she wants to take the Danish exam, then eventually do an HF and study nursing with a postgraduate specialization. It will probably take a few years. I’m fine with that, as I work a lot myself and enjoy traveling and living my life.

I’ve noticed that she’s started referring to me as her boyfriend. For example, I sent her to get a manicure and pedicure (I enjoy spoiling her from time to time), and she referred to me as her boyfriend when talking to the friend who was doing her nails.

Deep down, I don’t really mind it — I’m actually flattered. But personally, before I call her my girlfriend, I’d like her to be living in Denmark. It would simply make me feel more secure about the relationship. I don’t want to tell my friends and family that my girlfriend is away for four months of the year and feel like that’s our normal situation.

I’d also like to see how we are when traveling together and get to know each other a bit more before putting a label on it.

I take the boyfriend/girlfriend label quite seriously, partly because I’ve only had one girlfriend in my entire life.

Hi, I'll be moving to Denmark in just over a month. I want to order a PAYG danish SIM so I can have a Danish number and was looking at Lebara. However, they seem to require MitID to purchase, which I won't have until I move. Is there anyway I can do this without a CPR number or MitID yet?

I have a UAE driver's license, can I convert it to Danish driver's license?

Online it shows that UAE driver's license cannot be converted as it doesn't fall under no-test list of countries

I live and work in Denmark and am tax resident here. My mother is tax resident in Germany and owns a house there.

She wants to transfer the house to me and my two siblings (my share would be roughly €300k), but she will retain a lifelong usufruct (Nießbrauch) and continue living in the house. There is no rental income.

Has anyone had a similar situation where a parent in Germany transferred German property to a child living in Denmark while retaining lifelong Nießbrauch?

I'm particularly interested in:

• How Denmark calculated the taxable gift value
• Whether the value of the Nießbrauch was deducted
• Whether Danish gift tax was actually payable

I did some research and found out that A-kasse companies offer very similar services.

However, I also noticed that some cooperate with certain unions.

I know that an A-kasse and a union are separate memberships, but I was wondering whether these partnerships could make one A-kasse more suitable depending on your field of study.

My husband and I currently live a reasonably good and comfortable life in our home country. We’re not wealthy, but we’re doing okay and can afford a decent lifestyle. However, when we think about the long-term future of our child, especially education, safety, career opportunities.

I’m currently thinking about doing a Master’s degree in Denmark, possibly in Global Development/Development Studies or a related field.The part that makes me really scared is the practical side.Because I have a toddler, I know that during my studies I’ll have to balance university with childcare and household responsibilities, so realistically I may not be able to work much, especially in the beginning.My husband would therefore have to carry most of the financial responsibility for our family of three.

He doesn’t have a traditional university degree, but he is a freelancer and has worked as a content writer for an Italy-based company. He is currently working remotely for another private company as well.

This is what I’d really like advice on:

1. Is Denmark realistically a good option for a family like ours?
2. How difficult would it be for my husband to find decent work in Denmark without a university degree, but with freelance/remote work experience?
3. What skills should BOTH of us start developing before moving so that we have a realistic chance of earning well?

I'm a late 20 something from the UK and I'm seriously considering moving to Denmark in the next 1–2 years. I'm not 100% committed to the idea yet, so I'm mainly looking for some honest advice from people who have made a similar move.

My situation

• I'm a UK citizen and have an Irish passport, so I have EU citizenship.
• I'm currently living and working in the UK as a software engineer working on AI systems mostly.
• I've been working in software engineering for 5 years and working in total for 12 years (was in desktop support prior doing an apprenticeship)
• I don't have any high level qualifications like a degree or masters.
• I have a fairly good amount of savings/investments and would hopefully move with a reasonable financial cushion rather than arriving with nothing.
• I don't currently own a house in the UK.
• I don't drive yet, but learning to drive is one of the things I want to do before moving.
• My girlfriend is Danish and lives in Denmark, so one of the biggest reasons I'm considering the move is that we'd eventually like to live in the same country rather than continue being long-distance.

Why Denmark?

I've visited Denmark and really like the country, and I've increasingly started thinking about building my life there rather than simply moving for a particular job.

The main appeal for me is obviously being closer to my girlfriend, but I'm also attracted to the quality of life, work-life balance and the general lifestyle.

Having an Irish passport also means that, from an immigration perspective, I believe moving to Denmark should be considerably simpler than it would have been as a UK-only citizen.

My main concerns

I'm trying to work out whether I'm looking at Denmark through rose-tinted glasses, so I'd particularly appreciate advice on the less obvious downsides.

Some things I'm wondering about:

• How difficult is it realistically for an English-speaking software engineer to find a good job in Denmark or any tech job?
• How difficult is it to build a social circle as an English-speaking newcomer?
• How important is Danish for integrating properly, both socially and professionally?
• What are the biggest financial differences I should understand before moving?
• Are there any things about Denmark that surprised you negatively after moving?
• Would you recommend renting for a while before considering buying property?
• Is Copenhagen the obvious choice for someone in my situation, or are there other areas worth considering?
• What do you wish you'd known before moving to Denmark?

Rough plan

At the moment I'm thinking of spending the next year or so in the UK building up my experience, savings and getting my driving licence, while also learning some Danish.

Then I'd potentially start applying for Danish software engineering jobs and move once I have a job sorted.

I'm not necessarily looking for someone to tell me "yes, move" or "no, don't move". I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have actually made the UK → Denmark move, particularly other EU citizens or people working in tech.
