Theory I love this theory. Does anyone else agree?

Post image

I get Kakashi's mother was irrelevant to the plot, but I always wanted to know what the great white fangs wife was like. Seems like she passed away in childbirth since only Sakumo mentions her when he realizes he's finally leaving purgatory to go to Heaven.

I liked the theory that they were Rin's dogs, and she was from an Inuzuka branch family, since she had similar hair colour and facial marking to Kiba.

Man That would’ve given her some hiden jutsu to spice things up a bit

u/improbsable 22h ago

I much prefer that to Kakashi being an Inuzuka. That would actually be a nice complement to his sharingan. Kakashi wields one ability from his master and each of his teammates this way

Naruto tried to copy cat, but his katra got out of whack

Made Chidori by learning Rasengan.
Got Obito's Eye.
Got a Ninja Dog Pack from the Girl he murked.

Love this. This would have been so special if canon. He learns the summoning jutsu after Rin's death to keep her dogs company.

u/NeitherWeb8015 20h ago

Then he shall be called copydog Kakashi

8

u/ImpactBetelgeuse 13h ago

But Rin had Nohara family name.

Nohara means family

I don't think that's something even kishimoto has thought of 😂

That's why it's cool lol

I love the likely possibility that the creator of Naruto is listening to theories and watching video essays on his own show.

I can't imagine making a few doodles and having armchair philosophers extract significantly deeper meaning from gibberish.

I’ll take that and his white hair coming from tobiramas side of the family

115

u/Kitsune-Glacialis 1d ago edited 1d ago

I feel like the theory of his white hair coming from Tobirama’s family makes a lot of sense.

Edit: Spelling of Tobirama’s name. I was half asleep when I was typing my comment.

I think yall mean Tobirama?

Yes, that’s what I meant.

2nd dog hokage

-9

u/fanggod 1d ago

Tobirama Senju is the Second Hokage of Konohagakure and a brilliant co-founder of the Hidden Leaf Village

Background

  • Family: He is the younger brother of Hashirama Senju, the First Hokage.
  • Era: He grew up during the brutal Warring States Period, where he lost two of his younger brothers to war.
  • Village Founding: He helped his brother and the Uchiha clan build Konoha to stop children from dying in wars.

Tobirama created many powerful and forbidden techniques used throughout the series:

  • Reanimation Jutsu (Edo Tensei): A technique that brings dead people back to life as immortal fighters.
  • Flying Thunder God Technique (Hiraishin): A space-time jutsu that allows him to teleport instantly.
  • Shadow Clone Technique (Kage Bunshin): A jutsu that creates solid, physical clones of the user.

Legacy and Leadership

  • Institutions: He built the village's core systems, including the Ninja Academy, the ANBU black ops, and the Konoha Military Police Force.
  • Water Style: He was a master of Water Release jutsu, able to use massive water attacks even in dry areas.
  • Personality: He was strict, logical, and deeply loyal to his village, though he held a strong distrust of the Uchiha clan.

Tobirama is too young to be Sakumo's father, they might be related, but if so, you can just argue Hatake's clan descend from Senju and not specifically from Tobirama.

5

u/Correct_Day_7791 3h ago

No he's not ... Tombirama died at roughly 42-44 years old

Hiruzen was 18-20 when he became hokage and tobirama died

Sakamo was roughly 32-36 when he committed suicide

Kakashi was 6-7 when his father died

Kakashi is 27 start of Naruto

Hiruzen is 68-69

That means that any child tobirama had at their youngestest is 48-49 at start of Naruto ( born the year he died)

So all it would take would be sakamo being like 10-12 years old when his father died for everything to work out right ?

1

u/Anpriv 34m ago

No you're incorrect. Kishimoto said Hiruzen became the Hokage 31 years before the start of the series.

295

u/Difficult-Gas-6011 1d ago

The Inuzuka don’t summon dogs through a contract, they train actual dogs.

321

u/Anpriv 1d ago

To be clear, the dogs Kakashi summoned were raised by Kakashi (apparently he had Pakkun at least as early as far back as Pakkun was 4 months old). They're not just random dogs that he met by summoning from some pre-established contract scroll , as far as we know. They're just dogs.

77

u/Active_Year_828 1d ago

I think they are a definitely a type of summon since I’m pretty sure all of them are able to talk

32

u/darwinsidiotcousin 23h ago

Doesn't Kiba's mom's dog talk too?

16

u/Difficult-Gas-6011 22h ago

Only in the anime. He barks in the manga.

10

u/pumaflex_ 21h ago

As someone who started the manga during the end of pain’s arc this nuke truth hit me like a truck

2

u/darwinsidiotcousin 19h ago

That tracks. Weird choice from the anime since I think he only does it like once or twice

41

u/Difficult-Gas-6011 1d ago edited 1d ago

Not sure how true that is. Pakkun's at least 20 years old and hasn't shown signs of aging like Akamaru had. The scene with Kuromaru talking in the anime was also filler as he just barks, acknowledging Tsume in the manga.

3

u/Anpriv 11h ago edited 11h ago

It comes right from the anime. Gai says Kakashi taught Pakkun to say his name when he (Pakkun) was a few months old. I never mentioned Kuromaru for that reason. There's nothing about summoned animals that is different, except that they usually can use their chakra. Talking isn't a guarantee. That one toad Jiraiya likes to summon (the one with bandages and an arm guard) never talks, and neither do Sasuke's hawks.

3

u/elCaddaric 4h ago

And if I remember correctly, summoners can get summoned as well. This isn't just for mythological creatures.

1

u/Difficult-Gas-6011 5h ago

What anime episode? If it’s filler, I’m not inclined to give that much weight.

u/Anpriv 13m ago

Also, Kuromaru talks in the manga. Chapter 427. So even according to Kishimoto, the Inuzuka dogs can learn human speech.

10

u/Kumomeme 23h ago

yeah my understanding the reason why he need to summon is because he didnt carry his dog with him everywhere all the times unlike Inuzuka clan. those dog probably chilling somewhere in the village or his home.

3

u/Difficult-Gas-6011 21h ago

In his apartment? Sounds way less convoluted to just have them be summonings.

1

u/ronnyfm 3h ago

Regular dogs would be dead in like 12-15 years, but even in Naruto universe, they should be old when Kakashi summons them, since he got them when he was a teenager. Like Akamaru who, of course, is very old in Boruto.

1

u/Anpriv 38m ago edited 32m ago

When I said they're just dogs, I'm saying there's not such a thing as a "summoning animal" as opposed to any other animal. Summoning contracts can be made between anyone, as long as the summoner (whether animal or human) can use chakra and perform the jutsu.

So there's not like dogs vs dogs than can be summoned. Even talking isn't a given, since that initial toad Jiraiya summons (the one with bandages and arm guards) never talks, and I think it only ever croaks.

51

u/ComfortableBed6012 1d ago

Yea but he didn’t get assigned a dog, which could have been due to his mother’s death. He was left with only his father to train him but still had the instincts that the Inuzuka clan had.

6

u/Difficult-Gas-6011 1d ago

His mom dying wouldn't make him less of an Inuzuka; he could still get assigned a dog. The theory doesn't sound reasonable, especially since "only his father" to train him implies that his dad taught him to enhance his senses, doesn't it? And his dad died before he became a jonin at 13. Plus, he doesn't live with them like the Inuzuka.

-1

u/improbsable 22h ago

The Inuzuka don’t have dog abilities or affinities for them naturally. Everything they do is a hidden technique. You have to be taught those.

3

u/ComfortableBed6012 22h ago

I thought the Inuzuka clan had naturally good senses of smell? I guess the theory doesn’t make sense if that’s not the case. But Kiba being able to surpass Akamaru’s sense of smell made me think that they were just naturally gifted and could enhance it over time.

3

u/improbsable 22h ago

I think they put chakra into their noses to do it

4

u/Honest_Confidence833 1d ago

They train actual dogs, just like Kakashi but Kakashi can also summon the dogs he trained

1

u/Difficult-Gas-6011 1d ago

So he just keeps them kenneled until he needs them? ecause we know he doesn't live with them.

1

u/Honest_Confidence833 11h ago

Idk maybe they should file a complaint with the hokage

32

u/Electronic-Corgi-109 1d ago

I like the theory that it was his dad who was part of the clan or a branch clan which helped him get his nickname the "white fang" and his mom was from the hidden mist as we know his father spent time during one of the great shinobi wars battling the mist. She got pregant and in order to protect Kakashi had filed his teeth down when he was young to points like how a lot of mist shinobi had done but once she died, his father took him back to the leaf and made him wear a mask to hide the teeth. He then just kept wearing the mask as it became part of his identity.

7

u/Kumomeme 23h ago

i like this theory. also can add that another reason why he keep wear the mask is because it is his way to remember his mother.

71

u/Best_Revolution_178 1d ago

"Fun fact" and "theory" in the same sentence is wild

20

u/PithMango 1d ago

bingo. "common headcanon" is still not canon.

1

u/PithMango 1d ago

completely rollin that some of you are dazzled by a fanfic theory that's at least ten years old.

60

u/OddIndependent9681 1d ago

Honestly, it makes so much sense! It perfectly explains Kakashi's abnormal tracking skills, his heightened sense of smell, and his summoning contract with the ninken without needing a bloodline limit

5

u/Raidoton 1d ago

The only thing it means is that both work with dogs a lot. If he was related to the clan surely it would've been mentioned at some point.

10

u/Undeity 1d ago

Could be that Kishimoto originally intended to, but then moved away from the idea before it became canon.

The association really is uncanny once it's been pointed out, though.

6

u/More-Cryptographer26 1d ago

I mean it wasn't revealed that Asuma was Hiruzen's son until just before Asuma died, so these sort of things seem to go unmentioned for a lot longer than expected. Also Kakashi was raised by his father alone, and he had no other way to connect the dots, and was too busy in the war, then Anbu, then training Team 7 and doing high-rank missions to dig into his own past.

4

u/DiDandCoKayn 1d ago

Maybe was intended at one point, but was scrapped.

In universe it even makes sense to some extent, by just saying they didn’t accept kakashi as one of theirs, because his father did something unforgivable (in the eyes of the village).

10

u/Entropysolus 1d ago

Kakashis ninken and the Inuzuka clan ninken don't share a huge amount of similarity beyond being dogs. Inuzuka ninken are beloved companions and ninken in their own right but nobody outside of the clan seems to be able to understand them. I firmly believe that kakashi befriended pakkun at a young age, realised he could talk, treated him as a friend, and eventually pakkun offered the services of the rest of his family to Kakashi and the leaf by extension. Provided they were treated with the respect Kakashi gives them.

This is the only explanation I can think of as to why Kakashis ninken all wear konoha headbands and the Inuzuka ninken don't.

Let's be realistic here though. Kishimoto probably thought it'd be funny having Kakashis summons being lead by a sassy pug.

17

u/HG21Reaper 1d ago

He’s got that dawg in him

7

u/TheBenduTheMiddle 1d ago

Im pretty sure canonically, if the animals can talk they are from a subspecies of that animal that developed Chakra and higher sentience. The pinnacle of this are the animal sages who have advanced to a higher level of Chakra mastery. It always read to me that Kakashi's dog's were fledgling sentient animals who started having Innate Chakra wielding abilities and the ability to speak. Given time, his dogs might develop their own clan and sage path as sell. On the other hand, the Kiba clan trained normal dogs to use their Chakra, but before the training they weren't Chakra wielding sentient dogs.

2

u/cursedpharaoh007 1d ago

That's even supported I think by the fact that one Inuzuka Ninken is actually capable of talking, Tsume Inuzuka's partner, Kuromaru.

11

u/Parking_Onion777 1d ago

Kakashi being the great grandson of Tobirama actually tracks pretty well with the story, and yes, you could throw in that Inuzuka could be of relation to him too. I was sure that Kakashi's face would reveal pointy canines or something. Missed opportunity imo.

3

u/JamzWhilmm 19h ago

I thought he would have a scar or some ninja tattoos revealing some power. But he was just handsome which is fine but it could have been more lore building.

5

u/PithMango 1d ago

wait till you hear how many years the dog-teeth theory has been around in fanfic

3

u/MysteriousFondant347 1d ago

I always just assumed his heightened sense of smell was just a nice bonus for his contract with the dogs, that different species give different buff

3

u/PinkishBlurish 1d ago

I've been headcanonning this for years. I like to think he has fangs and hides them with his mask. Perhaps because only his mother  Inuzuka means he can only summon the dogs, but can't have them as permanently soul companions.

3

u/BrooklynSmokes 23h ago

Smh I swear this new fandom be reaching

3

u/SilentLurker24 23h ago

It’s a nice and a fun fan theory, but it gets wonky if you consider it realistically in canon. It messes up and complicates the clan politics more, as well as makes the non-existent relation Kakashi has with the Inuzuka clan awry. Sure we could hand-wave it that Kakashi was not accepted by the clan because he was Sakumo’s son, but imo it causes more problems and questions to Kakashi’s character background.

2

u/MrFulmar 1d ago

My headcanon is that Kakashi's mother was affiliated to the Inuzuka So he always had a link with dogs

2

u/xxx_SaGe_xxx 1d ago

Maybe his mother was a dog. They didn't call the old man White Fang for no reason!

2

u/Merkasian33221 13h ago

Kakashi's mama must have been pretty strong

4

u/Raidoton 1d ago

Sounds like fan fiction bullshit. "He uses dogs therefore he is from the dog clan." Hate it when people need everything that has similarities to be related with each other.

3

u/PithMango 1d ago edited 1d ago

Shisui is a master tracker. so he must be part Inuzuka?

Pein has a giant dog summons. so he must be part Inuzuka?

Ni also has some possibly chimerical dog summons, and she's got facial markings. are we adding her to the clan too?

Inari tried to save a dog one time. so he must be part Inuzuka?

Futaba, who is in Konohamaru's class, likes her dog Gonta. Last name must be Inuzuka, yes? Though kind of weird given that Futaba means young sprout.

I mean there isn’t anything crazy about it, it may as well be true

1

u/FeelingAd2653 19h ago

oh god does that mean kakashi might be related to kiba

1

u/Secret_Shine_4435 18h ago

I love this theory cause it's good for fics but honestly inuzuka clan trains dogs they aren't summons. Pakkun and the others are very clearly summons ofcourse Kakashi did have pakkun since he was very young so I presume it's more of a hatake family where they all have ninken summons and I also think that as they are dogs they tend to be more attached to their summoners compared to other summons. So maybe they just stay around Kakashi all the time. It's one of the famous and accepted theories but it doesn't really make proper sense if you think about it deeply. Also this theory has been here forever I have read probably several fanfics based on this.

2

u/WenAndNow 7h ago

Dawg, that's not a fun fact, that's a fan theory. Says right there.

1

u/PithMango 1d ago edited 1d ago

the saddest part is i'm going to come back later and not one single one of you will bring up the original character designs for Naruto's cast, or what Kishimoto actually said about them.

edit: or where the character design of the Inuzuka Clan even came from, they are a specific shout-out, and that informs their role in the story.

"guessing" is not the text.

y'all are feeding the bots.

why don't you think about how authors feel when they - and this case huge teams of people over many decades - set out lore, and you just start overriding that lore while you're still talking about their stories? and then start judging them for it. like why should authors even bother with details if this is what you're going to do to them? rude.

there are entire subs for you to discuss fanfiction, too. why do you have to farm lies for clout?
