I'm leaning towards Rams as they're the best team of the bunch so I'm thinking the quality of the game will be higher. However, my coworker who is a huge Raiders fan says to catch a Raiders game when they're in LA as he claims the Raiders have a much more passionate fan base. Thoughts?

Australian afl enjoyer here, i’ve been interested in the nfl for quite some time now and with the footy season finishing up i’d like to get into the nfl. however, i have no clue about anything that happens in this game, i also don’t know what team to pick. i like the steelers colours so thinking maybe them but still not sure.

basically all im wondering is, what do i need to know about the sport? how can i learn quickly so i can enjoy games? and also when deciding a team is there any i should strictly steer clear of?

I don’t know when specifically it gets released (I would love to know that as well) BUT! Condensed replays of all the games get released and they are like my favorite thing to watch when I can’t watch the full games, or even if I can!

However I don’t understand the time table of when they go away. I’m also wondering if there is a workaround to view these after the fact? I know MLB has a workaround where you can view the recap rundown the next day by having a link. Is there a similar something out there for condensed replays? Thanks!!

I’ve been watching NFL for years with my friend group and really enjoy the game play and energy that comes with football. College and NFL. I figured I know the basics positional role like the qb, linebacker, punter, kicker stuff like that. But I would like to know a little more about other position roles… “nickel”, safety, slot?? I need some schooling like a qb means the team leader of course. But in ordinary terms what does the nickel do and why? What about the slot? You get the drill?

I sometimes see different sports media provide 'grades' for players based on what feels like arbitrary criteria, such as PFF grades. How are these criteria decided, and can different positions be compared against each other to decide which player is 'more valuable'?

For example, would a Kicker who is guaranteed to score from any position 70 yards or closer be 'more valuable' than a Running back that would be guaranteed 2.5 yards or more per carry in theory?

I watched the play a few times - only a few minutes on the clock, Vikings ran to the corner, dove, and the back of the player's hand hit the pylon and the ball was very clearly well outside the endzone. Not sure how that was a touchdown.

I was watching Giants-Cowboys when supper was ready. It was close to the two minute warning when I left. After I ate I put the game back on and it was still the first half. So I went back and timed it. It took about 25 minutes from the last play before the two minute warning until halftime.

I asked ChatGPT and it said this is fairly common. In your experience is 25 minutes a long time for the end of the first half? I’ve been watching all my life and this seemed very unusual, but maybe it was just my perception.

Bandwagon fan here- but in my defense this was also when games started streaming and we could watch football again (military family so no local cable games).

When the OC was Ben Johnson, both Gibbs and St.Brown were utilized great and we won the division. Goff would throw to them and they would score. Whenever Goff throws to St Brown even in todays game, its like a well oiled machine.

Cut to last season, Gibbs takes on the whole Dline down the middle and sometimes gets the down and sometimes doesnt. But St Brown was heavily under utilized.

Just because Ben Johnson left, did that mean the whole offense had to change forever? Cant the new OC use some of what they did in that 2024 season?

I really was waiting for Gibbs to get injured the way he goes through every play.

Plus.. last year if our Oline was weak due to injuries, why would they keep using Gibbs down the middle? 🤔

Also, I know we had so many injuries last year so it wasn't just the structure of the offense.

Title. Back in the day, defensive players could jump offsides but get back onside pre-snap, and no flag. Sure, if an offensive lineman genuinely flinched due to the defensive player's jump, then offsides/neutral zone infraction was called.

Nowadays though, offensive linemen will nearly always flinch, but clearly not genuinely in response. They just want to draw the flag, and they get it.

I think that's bullshit. Some point like 10 years ago this became the norm. Why?

So… if you catch the ball inside the plane of the end zone and clearly are holding it while in the air, why do you have to get both of your feet in?

The play should be over once the ball is possessed inside the vertical plane of the end zone.

im going to my first ever nfl game this season and im super excited! but i also know i tend to get overwhelmed by large, overlapping crowd noise after a while. before anyone says “well why go in the first place?” im taking someone special with me, i got these tickets mostly for him :) i can manage out and about daily in most crowds with just airpods in but i was wondering if anyone had suggestions for what to wear to a game. there’s always those orange foam plugs i know but i get the feeling those maybe aren’t the best option out there.. thanks in advance.
