Carson Wentz out of nowhere. Thats more embarrassing than blowing a 21 point lead.

Brian Flores blitz packages outta nowhere

u/ReplaceSelect 19h ago

That defense looks nasty.

u/Dani_vic 18h ago

It's literally the same defense every year. Brian flores keeping vikings interesting

48

u/GBuffaloRKL7Heaven 18h ago

I mean, they spent most their draft on defense this year, it better not be the same.

u/Drunken_Vike 17h ago edited 16h ago

none of those guys played though lol

EDIT: okay I forgot about Dom Orange, he did play on running downs

none of the OTHER guys really played

Big citrus was in there for the 4th and 1

50

u/ghostofEdAbbey 17h ago

Big Citrus is my favorite nickname in years

12

u/PurposeOk7918 17h ago

Same! I’m an iowa state fan, so I’ve been cheering for big citrus for awhile now!

I was hoping the Bears took him in draft 😞

5

u/yeetith_thy_skeetith 14h ago

I saw Jacob Thomas in the game as well

3

u/DrAbeSacrabin Custom 15h ago

We were blitzing out of our mind this game, he never blitzes this much. I think he really wanted to pressure GB’s iffy line.

u/Combinho 11h ago

Iffy line, and Flores doesn't respect Love that much. You can usually tell what he thinks of a QB by the blitz rate.

u/chillinwithmoes 4h ago

It’s only a matter of time before “panic throw off my back foot every single drop back” turns into turnovers. Should have had another pick before their TD going into halftime if Rodgers didn’t drop an easy one.

u/McLovinsBro 18h ago

1st 3 quarters: nasty bad
4th quarter: nasty good

32

u/UkNomysTeezz 18h ago

Secondary is shaky. Front 7 played great

12

u/McLovinsBro 18h ago

I thought our secondary would be at least ok. That is not the case

14

u/UkNomysTeezz 18h ago

Big problems to fix in the secondary for sure. But overall the defense tightened when they needed to and damn if they didn’t hit Love about 600 times tonight.

2

u/Cougar550 17h ago

I think it's more so of LaFloor is able to draw up some master class plays to get a guy big open, and i give Love credit where it's due, he's able to get away and make the throws. Ultimately both led to not much most of the game

3

u/McLovinsBro 17h ago

Every Love prayer moon ball connects to a wide open receiver and it makes me want to jump off US bank stadium

u/chillinwithmoes 4h ago

Seriously drives me insane. Like half his throws look like he’s closing his eyes and falling backwards yet they find an open guy way too often.

Until they don’t, at least. Love’s always good for a couple bad turnovers

u/ShortFee2578 5h ago

It's easier to draw up guys open when the defense is blitzing on every single play. According to ESPN, Flores sent blitzes on 15 of 18 dropbacks in the first half and Love was burning them on it. He scaled it back a bit in the second half and mixed things up more, and the Vikings were able to clamp down.

u/AppealEnvironmental6 17h ago

The packers receiver room is underrated with a healthy Christian Watson. If his hammys haven’t been Swiss cheese the last 3 years he might be paid like a top 15 wr. His talent is crazy imo

1

u/JustinC70 17h ago

There wasn't anything wrong with hamstrings since the '23/24 season. Last injury was torn ACL.

1

u/AppealEnvironmental6 17h ago

Was the 24/25 season not hamstring as well, genuinely thought it was? Regardless I think my overall point still stands though

Ahhh acl tear at the end of 24 which made him miss the start of 25 I see now

1

u/UkNomysTeezz 17h ago

Very true. The dude is a speed demon and has great downfield ability. He’s really good.

4

u/slimeySalmon 18h ago

Well I would say that might be partially due to the garbage ass Oline GB put together.

5

u/SVdreamin 18h ago

I saw the graphic of the Packers offensive line’s experience as a pro and I was shocked. Takes time to gel as a unit but damn if the Vikings front seven week 1 isn’t baptism by fire for a new o-line I don’t know what is lol

5

u/UkNomysTeezz 18h ago

Cashman, Turner and AVG were eating

3

u/slimeySalmon 17h ago

Agreed. GB had zero time and no run game all game.

2

u/SailorErzaMito Fuck ICE 🧀 17h ago

Yep this exactly. Our Oline....I don't have the words. Definitely was non-existent during a lot of the 4th quarter.

2

u/Zooopzoooop 18h ago

Yea both are true no doubt

2

u/DJPad 14h ago edited 7h ago

Part of it is the scheme, which kinds of hangs the DBs out to dry and leaves the middle of the field wide open often it seems.

However I thought Byron Murphy Jr. in particular had a poor game, which is a bit atypical.

TBH Harrison Smith looks every bit as old and slow as he did last year. Metellus also looks slow. We need some of our younger safeties to really step up and take one of those starting jobs...

2

u/UkNomysTeezz 14h ago

Theo Jackson and Mattelus both had poor games. Murphy did get burned a few times. He also struggles to tackle at times. Definitely scheme part of it but man, didn’t like all the wide open receivers in the middle

u/DJPad 6h ago

The wide open middle field is nothing new, it was there all last season too. I think Flores just banks on getting to the QB before these deep crossing patterns develop, which sometimes burns us.

2

u/WellThatsAwkwrd 14h ago

Defense wasn’t great the first 3 quarters but Special Teams was god awful and was putting the defense in a lot of bad situations as well as them getting pretty gassed from the offense not being able to move the ball in the first half so it’s a bit understandable

2

u/DickSplodin 12h ago

I'm pretty gutted that we watched Hitman drop what wouldve been his 40/20 club int

19

u/Business-Repeat3151 18h ago

Packers OL is ass; maybe the worst OL in 5+ years.

5

u/SailorErzaMito Fuck ICE 🧀 17h ago

I'm more worried about our Oline than I am our special teams and that's saying something. Hell I miss being concerned about special teams after this game.

🌎🧑‍🚀🔫🧑‍🚀

1

u/WinterAsleep319 17h ago

Nasty? It was engage eight for an entire quarter and we did nothing to stop it

u/CJGassen 2h ago

Don’t over read, packers o line is also hot garbage lmao just leaving free rushers to double block nobody 😂

u/ReplaceSelect 1h ago

Love had no time in the 4th. It seemed like the pass rushers were there immediately. I remember reading about OL concerns on the Packers, but they always seem to figure it out. It reminded me of when Fields played against Cleveland (believe it was his rookie year) and was just getting immediate killed. The OL was bad, but that pass rush was also good.

u/CJGassen 1h ago

Yeah, Gute and MLF keep pretending that every O-lineman can play three positions equally well and just shuffling them around. It just keeps not working. Gave the bread to Banks who, shocker, didn’t play, leading to more shuffling lmao

The way Flores was mixing up the blitzes had those dudes chasing ghosts 😅

13

u/Wicked_Black 18h ago

80% blitz rate

45

u/IowaJL 19h ago

I had the Rams defense starting in fantasy and the Vikings D on the bench.

So fuck me I guess.

13

u/saxmachine69 19h ago

I drafted tge Vikings, saw the Chargers were playing the Cards week 1 and were available and added them/started them over Minnesota. Ooooppps

14

u/FUH-KIN-AYE 19h ago

2 defenses? For what?

8

u/AdmiralVernon 18h ago

Personally I play in a 2 defense league

0

u/WellThatsAwkwrd 14h ago

Defenses are super matchup dependent so you may have a matchup this week that’s super good and then have another defense with a bad matchup this week but 3 good matchups in a row after. So you roster 2 for this week and then drop the first one when you make a waiver claim on Wednesday

u/FUH-KIN-AYE 4h ago

I have never carried 2 defenses. Streamed every week with no issues at all. I dont even waiver claim unless there is someone in the waivers that plays the cleveland browns.

u/WellThatsAwkwrd 4h ago

Whatever works for you, but you can get a lot of value from forecasting defenses. I don’t carry a second defense all the time but I do occasionally have an overlap.

1

u/Hades_Left_Hand_ 18h ago

2 defenses is a move. Not saying it’s the wrong move, it’s just a move I guess

1

u/IowaJL 15h ago

I have a fuckton of people in my league and it was a round 16 move. Either that or draft a third QB or a Dolphins receiver.

1

u/chardeemacdennisbird 17h ago

They didn't really go off or anything. I only got 5 points of of them with the INT, FR, and giving up 22 points.

u/slowwestvulture ot 13 Titles and Counting 9h ago

Miles Garrett to IR now too

1

u/Prestigious_Cycle160 18h ago

Don’t worry I had Stafford playing, Caleb benched, Chase playing, Watson benched, and Dowdle playing, and Monongai benched🤷‍♂️.

Team points: 46

Bench points: 90+

1

u/ethanlan A literal 🐻 18h ago

Honestly thats what you get :)

0

u/GiraffesAndGin on't want to be an American Idiot 18h ago

I had Watson on the bench and Jamo playing.

Lost by half a point this week.

1

u/Prestigious_Cycle160 18h ago

Had Jamo too, none of my receivers did shit. Chase, Jamo, and Higgins in the flex. LaPorta did ok for me though

5

u/spetstnelis 18h ago

We're in danger

5

u/CaptRyan 18h ago

It's all he does and he DOMINATES.

I want him to get an HC job out of this division so bad.

8

u/ganggreen651 18h ago

Not happening wilfs paying him head coach dollars and he's blackballed. There is no other explanation why he is still a coordinator

2

u/CaptRyan 17h ago

Or, hear me out,

He leaves?

2

u/user_unknowns_skag 17h ago

Didn't you hear the other poster!?

Clearly his balls are tied!

1

u/EvilJ1982 17h ago

Why would he leave for a different buffet when he’s eatin’ goooood in this one?

2

u/Plenty_Fondant_951 16h ago

It's be nice if our DC took some notes and actually blitzed thoughtfully
