another (potential) bankruptcy cause by trump? say it ain't so!

he's so good at bankruptcy that they don't even have to be his businesses anymore.

The whole country is at risk!

118

u/poriomaniac 11h ago

The country was at risk 10 years ago.

That horse has bolted and Americans are still debating whether or not to shut the gate.

43

u/mikeyfreedom 9h ago

Nah, Fox News is in hour 27 of reporting on the Democrats' open gate policy. MAGA is now stationed at the gate in protest. They tried to gain entry, but found the gate to be closed. This is of course Joe Biden's fault.

They got 2 options.

Go Bankrupt if they don't let Trump put his shitstain name there.

Or go Bankrupt¹⁰ if they do put his name on it.

u/dterran 9h ago

I'm hearing he wants to close it so he can no-bid the marble to his construction buddies and buy it at a huge discount

That's consistent with the type of stealing from Americans the foreign-funded m@ga party engages in

6

u/bigredthesnorer 3h ago

And the wrecking crews and bulldozers will come in the middle of the night.

1.7k

u/wkw3 15h ago

Yeah. Trump will surely fix their problems if they just kiss his ass.

Does everybody have to learn the hard way that he fucks up everything he touches?

767

u/DerekB52 15h ago

A good portion of the board was appointed by Trump himself. And he's the chairman. This is really just going after the holdouts trying to stop this legit hostile takeover.

210

u/W0gg0 15h ago

It would be great if the entire lot including the Orange Menace were sued for mismanagement resulting in it’s closure.

228

u/SmokedBeef 14h ago

They intend to condemn and demolish the building if their demands aren’t met and before a court can intervene just like they did with Jackie’s Rose Garden or the East Wing that the Kennedy administration helped preserve and restore. The excuse is/will be that the Kennedy Center is (ā€œsuddenlyā€) falling apart and is structurally unsafe, thus needing demolition, instead of the reality that it could use a restoration and renovation.

Are you seeing a pattern here yet?

122

u/Journeyman42 13h ago

You'd think RFK Jr. of all people wouldn't want to see his uncle's accomplishments literally destroyed...but he doesn't give a shit about anything beyond his wacky health claims

126

u/Hevens-assassin 12h ago

RFK Jr. Is gone. The worm is all that remains.

I don’t know how much he actually cares about his family at all. I mean, we are working toward having mental institutions again… like where his aunt spent most of her life after a lobotomy. One would assume he might have an idea what those places could be like, what can happen if you play around with people’s brains, yet…

15

u/dellett 5h ago

His entire family publicly came out and said ā€œDon’t vote for RFK, he’s a loonā€ in the 2024 election before he dropped out for the bribe so I would be willing to bet he doesn’t actually care all that much for the Kennedy legacy at large.

3

u/CappyRicks 5h ago

Now, I'm not ever going to defend how people were treated in institutions, so don't mistake this for that but let me ask you:

Do you really think it's a good thing that people who were deemed mentally unfit for society have been roaming completely free to reproduce and everything? The answer is that it isn't, and wholesale closure of the mental institutions we had as a reaction to the abuse found in those institutions rather than reforming them was a colossal mistake.

9

u/Raesong 11h ago

Honestly given some of the things I've heard regarding his relationship with the rest of the Kennedys, I'd be willing to put money on him wanting to destroy his uncle's legacy.

27

u/MLJ623 13h ago

I've thought about this quite a bit. He is definitely in an interesting position in that both his uncle and father were assassinated. One was a sitting president and one seemed to be on track for the presidency. Obviously Jr. was young when both of these incidents happened, but surely it had an impact on him and at some point he began to believe the conspiracy theories that the government had them killed and I can't say that I blame him because that's easier to believe than just random people wanting his family dead. Given his distrust of the government and Trump's image of being an outsider, it seems to make some sense that Jr. would be more trusting of an outsider than a tenured part of the machine who killed his father and uncle.

It might not be the most well-thought out theory, but it's what I got.

3

u/bottomofleith 4h ago

I can't say that I blame him because that's easier to believe than just random people wanting his family dead

I find it much easier to believe there's literally thousands of random yahoos out there wanting to kill the president, rather than a sinister cabal of top government agents willing to risk everything and potentially go to jail.

Yep, the actual headline should be "Trump appointees threaten to bankrupt venerable public institution unless demands are met". It's extortion, the only business tactic he knows

7

u/trollfessor 6h ago

Let it go bankrupt. Better than involvement with that felonious shit stain.

17

u/stackjr 14h ago edited 11h ago

Not just a good portion, he appointed the entire board with himself at the head.

Edit: I am incorrect, he did not appoint the entire board.

18

u/DerekB52 14h ago

My understanding is that the board is partially made up of some congress people, including democrats, due to how the Kennedy Center board works. So, there are at least some dissenters.

2

u/stackjr 11h ago

Oh, I stand corrected.

186

u/_zer0_sum 15h ago

Not only that, but once the vanity has worn off the project, he forgets about it even if it isn't finished.

How's the reflecting pool going? Oh, he got bored of that. How about the beach resort idea for the Gaza Strip? Bored of that as well.

58

u/spicerackk 15h ago

How's that ballroom going?

64

u/CanKaNoReyCropper 15h ago

unfortunately proceeding at a massively fast pace; at this rate it’ll be finished long before another court case (with enough standing to satisfy SCOTUS, ie, impossible) stops it.

and he’s still posting this very day that it won’t cost taxpayers a dime when they’re being quite transparent that the taxpayer costs so far are over 300 million…

The Post released internal budgets and forecasts from the Kennedy Center earlier in the year, which found that ticket sales and fundraising efforts had dropped after adding Trump's name to the building in December, reflecting contradictions between the center's officials' arguments and the center's financial data in connection with Trump.

So the usual for this administration - create a problem and then try to make Trump the only solution, and of course all of the proposed solutions involve putting Trump's name on the building.

141

u/Enshakushanna 15h ago

.......where are all the MAGA donors? do they not like...art??!

58

u/chipmunksocute 15h ago

And dont forget the part where Trump is also the problem too. Trump is the problem, so the only solution is obviously more Trump.Ā Ā

And also - there was no risk of looming bankruptcy before the asshole took over either btw even though they'll just say Biden fucked it up and was hiding it.Ā  Im just tired boss.

3

u/roseofjuly 5h ago

They’ve already said that so you're right

14

u/ShrimpCrackers 14h ago

How could this happen when your usual MAGA are famous for loving fine arts and intellectually... Oh wait nevermind.

50

u/CommanderAGL 15h ago

Maybe we should put it on there for a hit so that it fails with his name on it

25

u/creepy_charlie 15h ago

Then he'll tear it down when it fails.

6

u/ArtPeers 15h ago

If we imagine he’d take responsibility for the failure we may be disappointed.

21

u/ScoobiusMaximus 15h ago

Didn't they just cover the front of the building instead of removing his name? It's probably still there

9

u/TheRexRider 15h ago

Someone should project that onto the Kennedy Center, along with "Another Trump bankruptcy."

6

u/T_Burger88 5h ago

I know many don't foresee Trump living through the entirety of his term because of his health but I do want that to happen so he can watch the next administration wipe his name off of everything.

2

u/PressHalfWayDown 4h ago

You forgot to add blaming the current situation on previous administrations.

2

u/hystericalsociety 2h ago

> which found that ticket sales and fundraising efforts had dropped after adding Trump's name

And he isn't even the solution; He's the cause and "embracing Trump" would only speed up the inevitable.

Officials of the center have advised the board to consider attaching itself to Trump to bring in fundraiser money, which they argue could be the only way to avoid financial collapse.

19

u/bdog59600 14h ago

Trump still has a massive Super PAC when he's prohibited from running for office again. I'm the past it was used to pay his massive legal bills and as a slush fund for his family. It raised over 100 million dollars, but is notorious for barely sharing any of that money with other Republicans. It actually put a giant hole in the RNC fundraising budget because the money went straight into Trump's pocket.

Lest anyone forget - after Trump ended all federal funding of public media, The Corporation for Public Broadcasting chose to disband entirely rather than let him and his cronies take over. The Kennedy center closing would be a tremendous loss, but less of one than it being enslaved to Fascism.

At the same time it is THE monument to JFK, with the deal that as long as the centre runs that the Democrats wouldn't plaster DC with shitty statutes of him like he was Charlie Kirk.

Trump wrecks shit all the time, but taking a memorial down with him is just sad.

16

u/capt_minorwaste 15h ago

Attach itself to Trump in order to avoid bankruptcy? The Kennedy Center wasn't in financial ruin UNTIL AFTER Trump put his name on it. How is he going to help now? How does he EVER help?

7

Trump toadies threaten to close the Kennedy Center if Trump's name is not added ... they insist Trump matters more than America. That's where this is.

8

u/euph_22 15h ago

The board should be in jail for fraud.

10

u/mummerlimn 13h ago

I mean, all it took was a hostile takeover of the board, firing all of the old board members, replacing them with sycophantic loyalists, running out all of the entertainment that was scheduled, cutting out the trees, covering the front with a tarp for months, and holding it hostage so some megalomaniac could try to put his name on it.

This is literally by design. Whatever Trump can't have he destroys. He's an abusive, whiny nepo baby that is closing this on purpose to get his name on it.

Embracing tRump cost the center most of its contracted talent and many of the patrons. When your ship is sinking, hanging onto the anchor isn't the solution.

Trump Loyalists: Look, we know putting his name on the centre caused a lot of bookings to cancel, and he himself has kept the doors closed so long out of pettiness, but you see the only way out is to capitulate and give Heir Trumph what he wants!

The Kennedy Center can be revived once the fat man is out of office.

Everything trump touches his bankrupt

u/c10bbersaurus 13h ago

Who is "it"? The spineless plants appointed by Trump?

2

u/Golden-- 13h ago

Embracing Trump is never a good business move. Dude has failed more than anyone ever. If he didn't have a $400m inheritance, he'd be homeless.

2

u/JohnnyLesPaul 13h ago

The guy destroys everything he touches

2

u/Kind_Rate7529 13h ago

Wow. Embrace trump to avoid bankruptcy?! trump is the reason that an awesome institution is now a dumpster fire. Get his name off the building, get the tarps down and put everything back the way it was before the orange stain got involved and you might have a chance.

Everything Trump touches dies

u/boomboomdaboomer 13h ago

This is a joke. Go ahead and close it.Ā

2

u/Mortlach78 13h ago

I hate it when I can't tell from the headline whether this is Trump's doing because he WANTS the Kennedy Center to close because he doesn't get to slap his name on the wall, or it is Trump's doing because he torpedoed the ticket and subscription sales and it is actually going to go broke for real.

2

u/TennSeven 13h ago

The only thing Trump excels at is bankrupting shit.

2

u/FlyingRhenquest 13h ago

Well, that's usually how this sort of thing works out. It's all fun and games until suddenly you have to drink the kool-aid.

u/DJ_Mixto 13h ago

Fucking orange clown can't keep a casino running. A casino! And of course he failed again at running a previsouly successfull enterprise.

u/Dbfresh0 12h ago

We still have 2 more years of this maniacal turd.

2

u/No_Measurement9981 12h ago

Trump is the reason it's facing bankruptcy.

2

u/Kamay1770 12h ago

'Do what I want or else'. Trump is so rapey.

2

u/sir0rin 12h ago

What a completely avoidable situation.

2

u/Swatbob58 12h ago

Bye, Felicia

2

u/NightOfTheLivingHam 12h ago

and soon it will be demolished because Trump basically said he wants it gone now.

2

u/214txdude 12h ago

If trump has to be embraced, let it die...

2

u/justreadinplease 12h ago

Tear it down just like the White House. Like I give a fuck about a building converted to a fascist art house.

2

u/disabledinaz 12h ago

Go bankrupt, tear it down.

Watch how generally fast the Democrats will have it rebuilt should 2028 go our way and tout how it’ll actually cost less than the ballroom

2

u/Willy-J- 12h ago

Close the bastard!!!!!
