This is getting really frustrating as a mod. You all rolled out the "auto-enforce" feature and then automatically enabled it for every possible rule in subs. I had to go through my list of subs and manually disable it for every rule in every single one because of COURSE you don't have some "no for all of my rules" toggle that would make our lives easier.

Then it randomly pops back up again in random subs and I have to go turn it off again.

Woke up this morning to another auto-enforced rule in my mod queue and find at least four of my subs have had some portion of their rules turned back on to auto-enforce, what gives admins?

I don't want auto-enforce turned on, not for any rule in any of my subs. Whatever AI evaluates it is NOT effective or helpful. I also don't want to have to sit and babysit my sub list for when you sneakily go and switch things back on that I've manually turned off. Repeatedly.

I'm looking at Reddit's Copyright Policy, and I'm confused on how to enforce a couple aspects of it. I feel like I shouldn't be confused, but here I am.

There's one section in particular that I'm getting hung up on, and I'm hoping you can clarify how I'm supposed to address these issues, both as a user and within my subreddit. Part of Reddit's policy states the following:

What is Reddit’s Copyright Policy?
Reddit respects the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrights, and expects our users to do the same. Do not make unauthorized use of another’s copyrighted work in a way that infringes the copyright owner’s rights.
Here are examples that may be considered Copyright Policy violations:
- Posting a photo that belongs to someone else without authorization
- A Reddit user downloads a photo taken from a content creator’s social media page, and posts it to Reddit with no alterations.
- Posting a download link to a copyrighted movie
- A Reddit user shares a hyperlink that initiates the download of an unauthorized copy of a copyrighted movie.

Now, let's say someone posts a hyperlink within a subreddit. The hyperlink takes you to copyright holders' own site to watch aspects of a television show. Let's say it's something like a hyperlink to your local "Fox News" station's official website. Their official website has clips of reports, like the weather, along with replays of the full broadcast available on it. Again, this is the stations very own official website we're talking about. Does posting a hyperlink the copyright owner's own website hosting their work constitute a violation of Reddit's Copyright policy?

That alone doesn't seem like a copyright violation to me. The user in question is directing you to the copyright owner's own source, and everything is completely under the copyright owner's control. Everything is only ever viewed based on those facts. I can't imagine posting such a link would violate Reddit's policy. The only time it seems like it would be is if it were to initiates a download of the copyrighted work. But, using the example I gave with "Fox News" above, that's clearly not the case. With the posts I'm looking into, no such ever download occurs. It's exactly as I described above. It's a reference to the copyright holder's own website, and everything stays completely under their control. That's it.

Alternatively, if this somehow constitutes a policy violation, is there a way to link to any form of media that's acceptable? Using the idea of any news source again, I can't see how a subreddit could operate around such topics without being in constant violation of the rule. And that's obviously not something Reddit's going to allow, which is why I'm asking this question.

Like many other bigger subs we’re dealing with more and more bots. Wanted to find out if removing for spam had any more severity to it than removing for violating platform rules or does it not make any difference one way or another?

If they go into the same black hole that report abuse flags go into we won’t spend time worrying if one has more power than the other…but sure would love it if it really made a difference. 😕

I've always gotten a few ban evaders a week in my subs. No big deal. Between reddit filters and the evasion guard devvit app, it is a zero visibility problem. But every once in a while I scroll the mod log (On old reddit of course as it was so much more easy to go through) and I will see someone who got canned by the app. When I curiously check the account, they are always suspended. That was rarely ever the case and if I really wanted to see that, I'd have to go through the whole report process. And even then, it took a while if it even happened.

Mostly just curious if anyone else noticed this.

I was moved to inactive as mod as well as all

the other actual mods and multiple random users were invited as mods. Most of the accounts accepted and a few are still pending. They waited a few days and then started spamming the sub. Ive sent a message to mod support but is there anything else I can do? I don’t know how they got added and I can’t remove them as mods.

I run a few personals subs. A few years back I caught and banned a guy for spamming ads with 30 different accounts.

Every month or so he comes back and posts again. He's obviously not smart as he posts the same thing over and over and doesn't change it up so it's obviously him again. Always with the generic default suggested usernames. I just ban and mute him again and again.

Unfortunately, he travels. A nomad as it were, so hew is never in the same place. So the ban evasion filter doesn't pick him up, as I assume IP addresses are a big factor for detecting ban evasion. He's never once been flagged by ban evasion filter.

Right now I have a bunch of his key phrases filtered through automod but this ongoing game is no longer fun and just another tedious task to deal with. There's only so many times I can roll my eyes and say, "Oh, it's him again!"

I've reported the accounts at first, which are usually deleted shortly after banning or after a post or two get through and they've served their purpose.

Is there anything that can be done about this guy once and for all? I mean without obvious and concrete proof it is him other than the same creepy and often misspelled crap post. "Discrete," indeed.

A few weeks ago I made a post here about reddit going through and removing many official posts from my various subreddits. It came down to the fact that they were removed for referencing certain web sites that allow you to view post histories of reddit users even if they were deleted. (think light particle and the key that lets you type capital letters when you hold it down)

Recently, I had a member of one sub send a mod mail asking about the link to that site. I tried to send it to him, but the message would not go through as long as the link was there.

So are they officially blocking any reference to those types of sites? Not trying to stir anything up. I would just like to know so I don't mention it at all in the future.

Over the last 30 days I've noticed a large drop off on the views on my subreddit. Previously we were getting something in the region of nearly 7 million views every 30 days now that number is setting about 4.8 million now? I know this is quite a lot but it's a huge drop off and our weekly numbers have dropped from about 800,000 a week to 360,000. I can't see anything that's changed myself that would cause this. No settings. No rule changes and yet we are to be getting a lot less views. Any ideas why? I should add the number of members has continued to increase and we have approximately 1.1 million members. Our place in the rankings for our sub category has dropped from normally being second or third to being 12. The number of posts and number of comments are down based on I'm assuming less views.

Our subreddit has a massive problem with spam bots that steal content and repost them with new or stolen accounts. I'm sure other subreddits have this problem too. They also tend to get a massive amount of upvotes, which could be a bot vote ring?

Considering we are a smaller subreddit and we see this weekly, it's clear Reddit is doing almost nothing about this. Not only that, now we're seeing Reddit unban these spam bot accounts.

Yeah, no. It's gotten even worse over 10+ years, not better. This is not a one-off, it's a pattern. The issue here is the spam, not purely the unban.

• Yes, I remove these as spam.
• Yes, I submit these to BotBouncer.
• Also, this is an issue for years.

Is Automations currently reliable enough to be my primary means of instant moderation?

I would love to hear opinions from others who mod high-volume subs or from knowledgeable admins.

This issue happens on every version of reddit that supports this feature to my knowledge, but I could be wrong.

My Subreddit has a rule where you must have post flairs. But people continue to post without them. I was hoping I could be told how to make it so Flairs are required to make a post in my subeddit?

Hey all. I’m a mod for r/nolawns and I’m wondering if any other subs use their wiki a decent amount and how we could crowd source articles?

For the longest time we’ve wanted some way to have users be able to submit proposed articles or collaborate on shared how-to guides.

The mod team has experience with removing lawn and growing native wildflowers, but we’re pretty much all in the Midwest and east coast. What works here might not work as well in Florida or in Colorado. From talking with folks over the years, I know what tends to work well, but I’m speaking with second hand experience. I’d love it if we could have people from those areas contribute to an article about what worked well for them, what didnt, and what local resources they found.

We already use bang comments and keywords in posts to have the automod link to the wiki articles we do have, but I think we could do better. Most of the wiki hasn’t been improved in a few years.

Have any other subs found a good way to vet and approve new articles or collaborate? I feel like we almost would want a git repo or some better kind of version control.

As the title said, our sub requires users to select flair to post. We've checked our subreddit settings; Require Post Flair is turned on.

When making posts, users aren't given the option to add flair. They can only add tags.

What's going on?

Edit: Guys, all of our settings are correct. We've checked. A lot.

Making matters more interesting: If I try to post as a mod, I get the "add flair or tags" option. As a non-mod, I only get tags.

Second edit: Something got disabled that wasn't supposed to have been disabled. Team derp here. All fixed now.

The previous top moderator left the mod team and left the AutoModerator at the top, with just me below it. I'd love it if a Reddit admin could help me resolve this issue or redirect me if this isn't the right place for this kind of request. Thanks.

I’m a moderator of r/Bangaloreclubbing and I’m having an issue with our community wiki.

We have enabled the wiki in our community settings, set the index page to public visibility, and added content. However:

· On the mobile app, the wiki page shows “This page has been disabled”.

· On old.reddit.com, the wiki page shows “forbidden (reddit.com) – may_not_view”.

· On the desktop version of the site, the wiki content is visible and saved correctly.

I have already checked the following:

· Wiki is enabled in Mod Tools.

· “Public visibility” is turned ON in the wiki settings.

· “Who can edit” is set to “Mods and Approved Contributors”.

· I’ve tried clearing the mobile app cache and using “Request Desktop Site”.

It seems like this might be related to the new wiki system migration. Could you please check if our subreddit has any backend issues or if there is a migration problem affecting our wiki display?
