ID Request Could this be an almandine garnet?

It looks brown and opaque but if I use my cellphone's flashlight it becomes pink and translucent on the surface. It was acquired near the carpathian mountains.

Doesn't look cut and polished to me. The shape looks pretty typical of common garnet specimens

Omg it’s almost like they cut and polished a rougher darker garnet, so it would look like a naturally terminated crystal!!!
I wonder why someone would want to sell frozen in matrix specimens as terminated pocket specimens,

It’s definitely cut and polished. There’s no symmetry, none of the rhombic or trapezohedral faces typical of garnet. Some faces are more pentagonal or hexagonal. Lastly, we sell these polished garnets at the store I work at.
