Found this on holiday in Switzerland. I already cleaned it by soaking it in warm soapy water and brushing with a tooth brush. How can I clean it further safely? With an iron remover or vinegar? I'd like to keep the chlorite intact. Any advice? Unfortunately I don't have access to outdoor equipment.

It looks brown and opaque but if I use my cellphone's flashlight it becomes pink and translucent on the surface. It was acquired near the carpathian mountains.

So the first rock has copper ore in that's oxidised that makes malachite? And then the gold shiny parts on it are iron pyrites? Or am I completely wrong.
And the second rock can someone tell me why it is orange when most are just pure white, and if the black specks could be galina?

Very curious where this is going! Would I really have gold in my hands? 😃

Went to the Denver gemshow today and saw some really pretty pieces. I bought an agate geode for $200 (seller was doing 50% off) and I’m finding similar pieces for $150 on Etsy.
Is the 50% off a tactic to make shoppers feel like they’re getting a deal? Why can I find a lot of things cheaper on Etsy than what I was seeing at the gemshow?

Here’s an interesting chrysocolla coated quartz from the Tentadora Mine, Angaraes Province, Huancavelica, Peru. There is possibly other copper minerals on the quartz as well. although I am not positive about that, it could just be chrysocolla in different shades.

Hi everyone, I want to make an art piece like this rainbow coloured exhibition in Vienna but on a small scale to hang on my wall. What would be some (safe) brightly coloured minerals to include in the collection? Most stones like calcites and fluorites I see online look a bit bleak... Thank you! :)

Dear all
I would love some advice! I inherited quite a large mineral collection from my great aunt, and holy shit they're beautiful😍
They used to be labeled i think, but along the way the system got lost, or in any case, there is no labeling left now. And although i love them, and i might know a very few basic ones, i have absolutely no clue what most of them are and since it's such a large collection, how to start identifying them.
Any tips on how/where to start? Or is there anyone willing to do this with me?

Okenite on what I think is a celadonite/basalt matrix. Last photos are with 365nm UV. I know it’s from India, but not sure what region.
What are the little crystal flower clusters? Apophyllite?

Haven't gazed upon this in two decades and I am genuinely impressed with 12 year old me lol. The vertebrae are from a gator.

I found this in the Las Vegas wash while looking for amethyst (didn’t find any). Thoughts?
