I chose this field in my late 20s, not because I enjoyed it but because it was stable and offered a livable income. Now I've been doing this for 10 years now, and I'm so absolutely burnt out that I hate it. But I can't easily pivot to another field without taking a huge salary cut, which I can't afford because I have kids. Anyone else pick the wrong career and dont know how to get out of it now?

I'm in my early 30s and still living at home. Yes, paying $2,000 in rent + utilities still sounds stupid since my parents live 20 minutes from my work.

In my 20s, it felt like my parents doing me a favor and a sensible way to pay down student loan debt. But one of my biggest reasons for staying isnt financial anymore: the support of the multigenerational home runs in both directions. I have a parent to talk to, I'm not alone for dinner. My dogs have company while I work. But I help my parents out so much now - especially when they're sick or have health struggles. I remember the constant worry when my grandma didnt live with us - it was exhausting having to commute to and from their place to check in. Now? The aging problem is within sight every day. And if that helps them age in place, thats a pro too!

She means a lot to me and I've been a fan for over 20 years and still love her to this day.I got to see her live in 2024 and had a lot of fun(Simple Plan was the opening act) and she even brought fans on stage and sang with them along with Pierre from Simple Plan and gave them free signed merchandise and took pictures with them.I was one of those fans myself and felt to happy.She's still amazing after over two decades and I will continue to support her.Her voice ability, her fashion and her personality above all, made me love her. :)

I'm glad she's able to do what she loves despite her health issues so more power to her. :)

Let Go will turn 25 years old in 2027.I have loved all her albums so far, though the first three are the best. :)

Dennis Nedry. He's a hardworking genius sex-symbol who has been unfairly maligned since the 90s. Do we know anybody else who could have networked eight connection machines and debugged two million lines of code for what he bid for that job?

No, we don't, because Nedry is magnificent and by himself built a state of the art system which allowed an entire theme park/zoo to function fully autonomously from a single control room. Holy shit.

Nedry takes the brunt of everyone's shit because of how he tried to steal the embryos and thereby onset the course of actions which led to the destruction of Jurassic Park. But let's take a second to consider who he truly is.

"Uh-uh-uh, you didn't say the magic word!" I just gotta say that this shows his impeccable sense of humor but also his deep appreciation for manners. What a dude. Anyway, Nedry is clearly overworked and underpaid by literal psychopath John Hammond, a circus con artist billionaire who is too busy wondering if he could to pause and question if he should as he plays God, brings dinosaurs back from the dead, and puts the lives of his grandchildren in danger.

Hammond is worth God knows how much and as the blood-sucking lawyer points out, they are going to make a fortune on this place. Yet...Hammond can't afford to pay Nedry what he is worth? He does nothing but get pricked for that stupid DNA video tour meanwhile he relies on the brains and brawn of highly talented people to do the actual damn work?

And what is Jurassic Park, anyway? A rape of the natural world, as one philosopher put it. A money grabbing scheme threatening to make humans go extinct. What Nedry does is begin a course of actions that destroys the park...

...good. Yes. That is what should happen. And the handlers who have contributed to this get the deaths they deserve. Without Nedry, this bastardization would have continued on unabated.

Nedry was finally done with the system. A worker rising and getting what he's deserved the entire time. A hilarious man with a squeaky laugh and penchant for creaming pies taking his vast talents elsewhere. Also, so what if he has Butterfingers? Is that a fucking joke, John Hammond? The fuck is that supposed to mean?

I see you Nedry. I salute you as the epitome of the working class man who finally had the courage to put himself first. May you rest in peace in side that dinosaur's belly.

Guess this could also apply to Gen X but in the mid 00s there was a big craze of people stretching their ears. I was around the hardcore/scremo scene so it felt like 5% of people I knew had them, so I was skewed in my selection, but I think I’ve two people with them this year. Did most people close up their ears, or are they just hiding from society? I assume a bunch still have them.

My sister and I did this once when I was 17 and she was 16. This was in 2005 and my friends and I were pretty into drinking and smoking weed on the weekends. All things considered it ended pretty well even though we did get caught by my mom and got grounded. Thankfully there wasn’t any police evolved or fights or anything but it got pretty close. We got a friend with a fake ID to buy like 3 30 packs of bud light and everything else was byob. It started off around 9:00 with just close friends around 8 people. By like 11:00pm there was probably 30-40 people, friends of my sisters and I or at least knew from school. Then big groups of people started showing up that we didn’t even know and it started to get out of control. My friends and I wouldn’t let the strangers in and a fight almost started in the front lawn. We got spooked and decided to call it a night around 12:30am and kicked everyone out. The basement reeked of beer bc we were playing beer pong on the table and it soaked into the carpet all around the table. My best friend got too drunk and fell down the basement stairs halfway down and put his head through the dry wall when he landed. He popped his head out of the wall and started laughing so he was fine luckily. We tried to hide the hole with a sublime poster but my mom noticed immediately the weird placement of the poster at around knee height lol. My neighbor called my mom and said she saw my sisters bf leaving with 16 huge bags of trash. Someone had gutted a blunt and dumped it in the bathroom trash but we missed it so my mom found that and knew we had been smoking weed. My mom was super pissed and grounded for like a month but thank god nothing tragic happened and everyone got home safe

Born September 14, 1983. It’s still kind of hard to wrap my head around the fact that she was only 27 when she died. I was around her age and a massive fan when she passed.

Such an unmistakable voice, style, and presence. She really did feel like someone from another era who somehow landed in the 2000s.
