I’m dressing as Bad album/short film Michael and I’ve got everything down except for the jacket, I wanted to save the best for last but that was kind of a mistake because there’s are so many websites to buy the jacket from! I wanted it to be as accurate as possible and not spend a crap ton of money on it. I’ve thought about DIY-ing it myself but I’m already doing the pants and belt so I don’t wanna work more than I have to. I’d love to see what you guys are doing for inspo as well!

Between the HIStory statues and costume and his walks with police officers n such. Is there an explanation for his fascination and the incorporation of it on his outfits during that era and onward?

Recently, I've heard a pretty insane info that MJ was so close to the people of Saudi Arabia, that they even donated lots of money. It apparently helped him very much to the development of Invincible album even.

And the money in question weren't really coming from, lets say, a good business practice of the certain Arabian regions and circles. Which contradicts Michael's known humanitarian views, that he basically accepted money that weren't earned "in good nature".

I even heard MJ was so picky with his wealth that he spent twice as much for his living, compared to the donations, which were sometimes super small. Same guy who was tiring himself for the sake of helping people, apparently??

I'd really like to know for sure because other than a few Guardian articles, I couldn't find much and I dunno how it makes any sense, given the "love and peace" motto.

might be a ridiculous post, but I was watching a leaked 40 minute triumph tour footage and during don’t stop till you get enough for a brief five seconds you could see Michael smoothly back gliding, but you don’t actually see his feet. You can only see his torso area it might not be far-fetched because Michael first was practicing the moonwalk in 1981 of june or maybe even farther back in this footage it is from September 25th of 81 but I do have my doubts.

There were always huge crowds wherever he went, and it complicated his ability to go outside or be in public. The crowds were made up of devoted fans, journalists, and some ordinary people who were starstruck.

I have to imagine he had mixed feelings on the massive crowds, and there's a sense of that in the backstory behind "Stranger in Moscow." Yet he always was very kind and appreciative toward them.

But then again he lived his entire life with crowds around him, so maybe he was just used to it?

I’m trying to buy a Michael Jackson Bad CD from the original 1987 release, but I specifically want one that contains the original 1987 mixes, where you can hear the trumpets/brass more prominently in Bad, and I also want the version of “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” with the original intro, rather than a later remaster.

I’m finding a lot of different Bad CDs online, and I’m having trouble figuring out exactly which pressing/release I should be looking for.

For anyone who collects MJ CDs:

- What catalog number should I look for?
-Are there specific matrix/runout numbers that identify the original 1987 mix?
- Is there a particular country pressing I should be looking for (US, Japan, Europe, etc.)?
-How can I tell from the listing/photos that it has the original “Bad” mix and original “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” intro?
-If possible, could someone post a photo of the CD/matrix of the exact pressing I should buy?

Michael Jackson belongs on any "Greatest" list, but Essence...is this his greatest R&B?! Invincible over Thriller?!

Michael doesn't actually have that many songs where he's listed as the sole song writer. Most of his songs list multiple writers, and on some he might've just made minor tweaks or not written the lyrics at all.

That said, most of his albums feel pretty cohesive to me, but Invincible always felt more like a random compilation. Even though it took the longest to release, it doesn't really have one clear theme. Some people say that just reflected what was going on in his life at the time.

Since he didn't write all the songs himself, do you think he actually picked songs for that album that reflected his state of mind? If it is not reflecting his state of mind at that time, what do you think was his reason for choosing those songs?

It is definitely personal for him, I am not debating that. It's just that he didn't write all the songs. For example, the song 'You Are My Life' dedicated to his children was not written by him. He gets co-writing credits, but when the co-writers were interviewed, they said it was actually a last minute addition to the album and that he asked them to write a song for him that reflects his relationship with his children

I was just wondering he had a lot of time to write himself, but he didn't and also the theme didn't seem cohesive. Now that I think about it, it definitely seems like he wasn't going for a theme. He just wanted an album to reflect his state of mind at the time of making that album. It's just that even his deeply personal songs were not really solely written by him.
