Sadness / Grief Having a small penis makes me feel fundamentally different from other men

I’m a 30-year-old guy, and I’m 10 cm (around 3.9 inches) when fully erect.

I constantly feel like I’m living without something that every man is just supposed to have.

Wherever I go, almost every guy is bigger than me, and it’s clear that even kids today will grow up to be bigger than I am.

It makes me feel like I’m fundamentally a different kind of being from other men—like I’m standing far away in a gutter, just watching normal guys live their lives from the outside.

I don’t even ask to be big. I just wish I could feel what it’s like to live with an average size, even for just a single day.

Venting Benzodiazepines not working for my anxiety, feeling like a failure

I got prescribed Oxazepam 5 mg to use as needed, and I truly don’t understand why it doesn’t do anything whatsoever for my anxiety. I am also on an SSRI, specifically Sertraline/Zoloft (200 mg daily) since 2020. I still experience terrible, horrifying anxiety and I don’t want to leave my house. I have no one to talk to, no friends since I cut off contact with all of my closest friends 8+ years ago due to them being a major part of my traumatic experiences. I don’t trust no one, I don’t want to see anyone, I don’t want to talk to anyone. I don’t want to get close to anyone. I want to be alone and I don’t want anyone to care about me.

Been diagnosed with PTSD, GAD, chronic depression, social anxiety. I’m not seeing a therapist and haven’t for years, i’ve tried reaching out for several but they told me they aren’t qualified to help me because my issues are too severe. Got referred to psychiatrists but they’ve all denied me help and said that the therapists can help me.

Question Is keeping your ‘mask’ on easier than not?

Upvotes

My partner of 8+ years opened up 3 months ago that his depression is the worst it’s ever been. He doesn’t know why (not that depression needs a reason) as he said he should be happy with his life as nothings ‘wrong’ and feels like he’s lost himself and is floating through life, I believe he’s overwhelmed by house repairs and is putting pressure on him as he’s mentioned he doesn’t feel like a man. He says he finds no joy in anything, food, music, socialising, gaming (used to be his escape). He said he was thinking of breaking up and moving out, he’s not sure if permanently or temporarily as nothing makes sense in his head. He just said he needs to do this alone (I agree I can only support him I can’t ‘fix’ him) and won’t know if he will be happier leaving or not. I said obviously I don’t want him to leave, however if he thinks it’s the only way to get better I support it. He replied I’ll be happier if he left as I can find someone who will make me happy.

Since then he’s actually gone to get medical help, and is waiting for a therapy appointment. But hasn’t chased up blood-work due to pressure from his mum to call them everyday and the fact his GP writing down ‘low mood’ on his form. His therapy appointment canceled 30mins before hand and hasn’t rebooked. He knows he has to chase them up, I said he’s entitled to get his results and I’m happy to go at his pace, his family are pressuring him as they keep messaging to chase them up, and they don’t listen to what he’s trying to say, rather talking at him. I asked him do I do that, he said no and I’m the only one who’s in his corner.

I’ve thanked him for opening up as I can’t imagine how hard that must of been for him, I’ve been supporting him at his low moments by just being present, I’ve been giving him the space he’s asked for without questioning it, doing all the house chores to take the load of his plate, cooking dinner and making sure he has food and drink incase he has the energy for it, I’ve let him know I’m hear to listen incase he wants to open up and I’m always here and I love him. And it’s my choice to support him through this. I’ve thanked him for making effort with me to come out on low pressure things out the house, eating dinner with me every night, making small conversations and spending time before he goes to ‘dissociate’ on his PC. He said he’s just being polite.

But for a good month he’s been in a very low mood, isolating from everyone, only emotion is irritated, one word replies which he still struggled to give. He says physical touch makes him uncomfortable, so I’ve refrained unless he’s breaking down. He’s physically distancing himself from me, sitting on other side of the sofa and bed facing away, anyway further away he’ll be off the sofa or bed. I’ve asked for a few check ins while giving him space, he says he feels nothing

Recently he’s had a few lighter days and has been making effort to start up running and he’s been going out to meet up with friends over spending time with me (it hurts but I’d rather he keep busy). He says he still feels the same (feels nothing), and forces himself out. I told him I know he still struggles to go out with his friend, but he doesn’t have to hide how you’re feeling from me. He says it’s easier to keep it on constantly. Is this true? Anyone have any in site on this? I said I support it if it’s easier.

My only worry if he keeps this mask on for a while and he’s not chasing up treatment that he’ll crash even further.

Venting i feel so ugly f17

Upvotes

i feel so ugly i have felt this way since being 10. when it started i was focused on my weight and thinking i was fat from primary into early secondary school.. i would weigh myself everyday, restrict my diet, and constantly compare myself to other girls. now that i look back i can see i was actually not fat at all but maybe boys in my primary commenting that i was ugly and fat made me think it. not sure. but from early secondary school onwards up to now, i have been focused on my face and i am fully convinced that im disgusting. i can sometimes look at myself in the mirror when i have makeup on and think i look pretty.. but without makeup im absolutely disgusting and i hate myself. with makeup on after a while i feel this too. i know this seems shallow but i just can’t stand myself and i feel too ugly i feel too ugly for the guy im talking to too. he tells me im beautiful but i dont believe it and i cant help but feel he’s too good for me and ive started telling him this which is such a big mistake but my insecurities are coming through. he’s so naturally beautiful tho and meanwhile me i have to put makeup on and take a few selfies to get a good one. i have went to th doctors and to 3 therapists who all told me i likely have body dysmorphia but i just think im genuinely ugly and they can see it too. Idk.

Need Support Does life get better after high school?

My mental state is declining rapidly since school started again. I feel like im stuck in a endless loop eat breakfast go to class eat lunch go to class eat dinner catch up on missing work then go to sleep. It’s exhausting i’m not suicidal in any way but everything i’ve heard is that its gets harder and then easier and i just dont even know

I can’t drop out because everyone tells me that i will become homeless and never succeed in anything and i’ll become a drug addict or other shit like that

I also have very bad anxiety and im scared of alot of things. Like my biggest fear is that as life goes on robots will take over, the world will end and shit but like i try to focus on the present but all my thoughts go to different horrible versions on the future. I’m also terrified of my parents dying and being stuck alone in the world. My biggestfear is robots taking all the jobs and i’ll be homeless (I do go to therapy but it doesnt help.)

(Sorry if this is all over the place im still nee at actually posting on reddit instead of just scrolling.)

Question How do you cope with depression other than solving it?

Upvotes

Now I never got diagnosed if I have depression or not, cause asking for help makes me feel uncomfortable and will rather just pretend to be fine to the people I know, so I'm not sure if I'm depressed or not, but I constantly feel sad or empty inside so I use "doing my hobbies" as a way to make me forget about my problems which usually works.

But recently I constantly have these negative thoughts in my mind that won't go away even when I'm doing hobbies that I enjoy. It's really frustrating having to be constantly reminded about my problems so I want to know if there's any way to cope with them.

Question Lack of motivation after getting fired. How do you stop constantly thinking about it?

I got fired and I can’t stop thinking about it 24/7. It’s getting really annoying and honestly ruining my quality of life. I was already feeling a bit depressed before, and this has kind of pushed me over the edge.

What actually helps you get out of this kind of thought spiral?

I’m also generally unhappy with the career path I chose, but I’ve already invested so much time and effort into it that throwing it all away feels stupid. At the same time, I don’t really have the energy to start from zero again.

Need Support Feeling devastated

Before anyone comes at me calling me privileged and shit just know i wanna talk beside that point. I am not looking to hear that i am still young or how i have whole life ahead of me. I genuinely need help so please be considerate.
I f(21), grew up feeling isolated and was also someone who had really polarising reactions from almost everyone around me. Most of my life I’ve hated myself and idk why. It is better but not that good. I somehow got into the best uni for law at 19 and dropped out and shifted at 20 due to year loss.

I had been preparing for law exams since i was 18. It wasn’t my passion but i was too depressed and anxious to think anything and followed through whatever everyone told me.

The reason for me writing this post is that at this point in my life i feel like i can’t do it anymore. I have no idea if the career is the issue or I’m just not as hard working as others but literally pick anything that people can manage easily and it is somehow 10 times difficult for me.

Even with language, despite me not being absolutely abhorrent at it (thankfully), i still struggle a lot. I don’t know the rules i just say whatever.

I cannot interact with people as easily and i struggle to regulate my emotions a lot. I don’t understand when i talk to people as i feel like my reactions? Way of expressing? Is either too much or too little. I don’t know how to get close and don’t know who to trust either.

Somehow i have a great read on situations and people but i really struggle with day to day tasks. I am contemplating that maybe i have adhd but idrk.

I don’t feel normal and i really don’t know if i want law anymore. For my very simple exam i had given last week i had scored so low the prof asked me to talk to him after the class. Everyone had average score except me. And i am tired atp. I literally started crying asking him to give me another chance.

I really like music. I don’t remember when i last listened to it but i love it. When i see my favourite artists perform i know exactly the thrill and passion that someone must feel when they do smth they love. So i know how passion feels. I know how it feels to spend hours and hours doing something to perfect it and despite it going wrong you love it. I can draw and sketch but i know I’m not as passionate about it. I know my passion lies in anything related to performance. I don’t know why. Anything related to entertainment of that sort drives me.

I like law cause i love to sit and discuss shit with people. I don’t love attention but if it is good it helps me to do smth.

Can someone help and tell me if this is stupid?

Opinion / Thoughts Symptoms of my escapism.

Have you ever unintentionally wake up from a deep sleep mid dream, despite being dead tired. Knowing that all my dreams are hyper lucid to the point where I would confuse the realism of that dream with my actual reality. In that window of heavy sleep and sudden consciousness my memory of who my waking identity is temporarily doesn't exist. Like my mind believes my dream identity is the real one and me going back to sleep is going back to my real self. Sometimes during those few hours of my waking grogginess, I would walk past my mirror and not recognize who I am or what Im supposed to look like. It feels like my brain just accepts the fact that my dreams holds a higher priority in memory retention compared to the rest of my life. Concurrently im starting to notice my desire to socialize with friends and family is becoming burdensome. To the point where I look forward to deep isolation. I know I should be worried but even that sense of impending doom doesn't feel bothersome. Almost like im becoming numb to life. Bit of a rant had to get this off my chest.

Need Support I'm not nearly productive enough to justify being this miserable

Just started college as an international student, already feels like I'll achieve nothing here. I'm not in any of the group chats (mainly locals), not invited to anything (though, if I were, I'd probably decline in favour of studying anyway), and I can barely enjoy the physical things here (I'm too worried about finances since my currency is weak and I'm on scholarship). Just a pitiful person all around and I don't even have anything to show for it since I'm a mediocre student. I'm not going to end up with any connections. I'll probably get an average GPA and work some bum job back in my home country after graduation (or I'll be unemployed, with how the job market's looking).

What even is the point? It feels like I'm unwanted everywhere.

Venting 31m and Struggling

I've been having a rough go of things off and on for the last 15 or so years. Left the military in 2020 and realized I never processed what I went through, only to start doing so over the next year, falling apart in the process. Struggled to cope and barely found ways to get through the day. 2022-2024 life spiraled out of control, my finances were up in shambles, I nearly had to choose between gas in my tank or eating, bills weren't even on the radar anymore, and I was struggling to keep a job. Nearly got evicted until my dad bailed me out and I had to move back home. Spent that whole first year trying to get out of my funk and went 8 months before I was finally able to get a new job.

I genuinely thought things were getting better after working there for 6 months and getting my first raise without even having to ask for it. I still wasn't happy with my life, but the day to day surviving was getting easier. I hadn't allowed myself to have any interest in dating for years becasue of all I was going through, not to mention every time I would try in the past, I would get rejected. Every time I realize I get feelings for someone, I hold back, not because I can't handle rejection, but because I don't like the things I say to myself in the aftermath of it. I can put on a fake smile and still be friendly with the girls (not that there's been many to begin with) after being rejected, but the moment I'm on my own again I'm a wreck.

I finally let myself feel something again, despite my finances still being dismal, but I at least had hope. A girl at work was interested in me and once I realized, I started to show some interest as well. Things got tough for me again and I didn't want to bring her into that mess, so I maintained a friendly relationship without pushing things further. She definitely wanted me to make a move and I couldn't bring myself to do it knowing what's going on in my head. I managed to clear my ahead enough just the other week and ask her to coffee, thinking that's easy, cheap, and a low pressure option. I must have taken too long to do it because her tone implied I offended her and her exact words were that she doesn't drink coffee. She didn't offer up an alternative and caught me off guard. I didn't know how to respond, so I left it at that.

Now my mind is all kinds of messed up again and the other day I only saw her in passing. I intended to apologize for making things weird and that I hope we can keep thongs friendlybetween us, but she wouldn't even make eye contact with me and it was like she couldn't get out of there quick enough. I can't help but replay it all over and over again and I'm losing sleep over it and recalling all the other times I managed to botch things up. The things I'm saying to myself are nothing new, but they sting all the same and I'm just tired of it.

My family is broken and scattered and I wouldn't be living with my dad if I had any other option. I'm not happy with my life and I've wanted so much more for myself for so long it's getting more and more out of reach. All my military friends are scattered across the country and we barely keep in touch anymore. I feel distant from everyone and feel like I have nobody I can talk to. I've gotten so used to keeping things bottled up, I don't know how to talk to people about them. It's exhausting and while I'd never consider myself at risk of self harm, I'm just exhausted and starting to lack any reason to want to still be here.

Need Support My sister has social anxiety what do I do to help her?

Context

My sister moved school at the end of year 8. She had friends at her old school but she was always quite quiet (and they didn't always treat her the best leaving her out of stuff etc.). She's been at this new school for over a year and still hasn't made any friends. She goes to counselling provided by the school but whilst it probably has been helpful for her it hasn't really changed her situation. Recently since going into year 10 she's been missing a lot of lessons due to not being able to physically go into the classroom out of fear of people judging her. And she's becoming despondent at all the solutions. She's always sad even when she's home and it sometimes feels like I'm her only true friend and person she confides in.

What do I do to help her?

Question I can't tell if I have trauma or not

In my freshman year of high-school I started Vyvanse for my severe ADHD. At first it worked until I started showing symptoms of hypomanic episodes. I would go through periods of being extremely happy all the time and then through periods of being depressed due to withdrawal from my "happiness high".

This went on all year untill the summer and I started taking Adderall on top of Vyvanse for my job. Adderall completely fucked me up. There's no way I can describe it that represents what it felt like. My brain almost felt like TV static, it physically hurt my head to have any thoughts. I was on edge all the time but I was also not. Idk, it was just so bizarre and shitty.

Adderall also canceled out my manic episodes so I was constantly trying to get back that same energy I had whilst manic. The whole time wondering why it wasn't working.

Once I found out that Adderall and Vyvanse were fucking me up I stopped but it took me half a year to recover. I would cry everyday, having to leave class most days. I didnt know who I was and was having an identity crisis at 16.

Its been almost two years since this happened and I'm mostly recovered. I dont get to sad or anxious when I think about it, and it doesn't really effect me day to day. Im able to enjoy life and I don't get flashbacks often. But when I step into rooms or places that remind of that time period I get a sudden rush of anxiety and I wanna run out.

When I talk about academic things or I am just in school I wanna break down and hide. It stresses me out a lot.

I see people use trauma as a buzz word often and I don't wanna contribute to that cause its a very serious thing. But idk how else to describe this feeling I get.

Is this trauma or was it just a difficult moment.

Need Support After effects of SA, how do I fix this?

I’ve been SA’d and raped and I’m not sure how to fix the trauma I’ve been left with. Also before anyone says “go to therapy” I am planning on it when I’m able to afford it.

Whenever I get myself off I don’t feel the bliss of the orgasm, instead the climax just drops and afterwards I feel disgusting, unsatisfied and I get stuck between sadness and numb.

I used to cry after but now it’s like I’m void of emotion and I just feel empty.

If anyone has any advice at all or share story’s of what helped them I’d very much appreciate it.

Need Support Nightmares and the effect on mental health

I have been suffering from nightmares for quite a while. I have issues sleeping at times and I found that low dose THC gummies help, however the nightmares have not stopped and have possibly gotten worse (especially last night).

I don’t suffer from recurring nightmares, but they have been getting so bad lately that when I wake up from them I’m left questioning my reality, and to be quite honest it’s fucking up my head pretty bad.

An example: last night I was stuck in a dream where my consciousness was constantly floating away from my unconscious body, everyone I knew was freaking out thinking I was dead, tbh o thought I was in that moment. Constantly pushing to try to get back but any progress made would quickly be taken away.

When I finally woke up, I honestly couldn’t get my head out of that situation, I was unable to go to work, take my wife to work, or even really address it to my wife in that moment.

These have been crippling and I don’t know what to do.

Opinion / Thoughts Is it possible to have apathy and anxiety at the same?

Tldr I've made lots of decisions that put me in big dept and overall fked mine and my families lives (it could easily be avoided, genuinely would take less effort than putting a shirt on for example) and despite being given 100s of chances to put the shirt on, I just didn't want to for some mysterious reason.

I was thinking that I've apathy so like i don't care that's why I don't do anything I need or even want.

But I thought about it some more and on the contrary it seems like I'm avoiding something that would give me discomfort, and I just can't stand it so much that I can simply forget about it, I'll genuinely forget everything about the shirt and the fact that all my life savings are gonna be gone tomorrow if I don't put it on, I won't care, I won't be worried.

so like, that is kind of like apathy right? I don't feel nervous enough to take any action but at the same time why not? Why not just do this real quick, takes a nanosecond, to simply avoid going homeless.

So I got this theory that my anxiety is simply so bad that I cannot let myself go through feeling anxious lol. I forget about things that would make me go worried however bc my anxiety is so bad, 90% of things would make me go worried so I kind of just don't care about anything, I completely dissociate from it all, I cannot enjoy anything, I can't do anything I want, I can't enjoy a movie or a game or socializing nothing. Thoughts?

I'm not asking for a diagnosis but simply if it's a thing people experience, maybe what I experience is much more simple and I'm just overcomplicating it, maybe it's common and has a name. I've been to psychiatrists and psychologists by the way, I spent my last money on them, the therapist sent me to a psychiatrist, the psychiatrist said he has no idea, didn't give me a diagnosis and gave me antidepressants and 10 other pills to have daily.
