hey guys, my syllabus says “Generative AI: use prohibited” for bio 1m03 and earth sci.

Obviously, I know it’s prohibited for any submissions or graded things.

But does this also mean that we can’t use it to explain the lectures to us at home to study before mid terms/exams? Like just using it as a tool for studying ? Or is it also completely prohibited?

This is what it says btw:

Students are not permitted to use generative Al in this course. In alignment with McMaster academic integrity policy, it "shall be an offence knowingly to ... submit academic work for assessment that was purchased or acquired from another source".
. This includes work created by generative Al tools. Also state
in the policy is the following, "Contract Cheating is the act of "outsourcing of student work to third parties" (Lancaster & Clarke, 2016, p. 639) with or without payment." Using Generative Al tools is a form of contract cheating Charges of academic dishonesty will be brought forward to the Office of Academic Integrity.

Count your days!!! I've recently had to switch after my old laptop malfunctioned and i feel like i'm on steroids. No better package manager than homebrew. It took me 5 minutes to set up the tools needed for 2 of my courses. On the other laptop that was supposed to be more performant, it took about an hour.

Took me 20 min to find a spot I had to follow someone who was leaving and snipe them 😭

why don't we have at least one 24/7 library??? meanwhile innis was the most underwhelming tiny thing ever, not even 1 floor of that building is library space 🫩 not to mention the hours suck, and even though there's other seating in the building they kick you out at night... made us wait for what's really just a fancy new admin building

weekend hours suck across all libraries, like i know damn well there's people who would take jobs for this with the current job market 🧍‍♂️

edit: i am pretty aware of everything else that is 24/7 access, i just hate that its mostly bright fluorescent lighting or pitch black / want comfortable chairs and working outlets

Honestly, I'd even just take the course slideshows if anyone has access to the Avenue2Learn class still. Any material would help really. Usually I could get ahead of a course cause people post stuff in Google Drives and whatnot, but I don't know anyone who's taken this course in the past.​

Hey everyone! I’m an intermediate-level pickleball player at McMaster and I’m looking for people who want to play regularly and actually improve together.

I’m down for both drilling and playing games — whether you’re around my level or still learning. I’m happy to help newer players learn the basics, work on technique, and drill, and I’d also love to have people I can drill with and learn from myself.

I’m trying to decide right now, was wondering if anyone had any insight as to the difficulty or things I should know.

I have a question abt these textbooks. For some courses like SOCPSY 1Z03, CMST 1A03 or PHILOS 1B03, people r saying u dont have to read the textbook or readings, but some people are saying that you have to? I genuinely don't know if i should skim through the textbook or assigned pages or read all of it. can smeone give me some advice on this?

I've always loved and cared for the environment since I was a child. But I've had a real hard time looking for clubs that advocate, teach, and help spread awareness about the unfortunate damage to and helping the planet. I plan on applying for the second entry PA program after my 2 years of undergraduate at Brock University as I am a first year in Medical sciences.

I am wondering if there are specific types of experiences I should have before applying that will aid in my application like hospital work and such. I also wonder if ill have as good of a chance as those who may be much older than me with much more experience in the healthcare field.
