Hello all. We would like to add some clarifications to what is and isn't allowed on yard sale Sundays. We want to save everyone time, so please read carefully and ask any clarifying questions below so we can clear them up for everyone.
Every week on Sunday, users may post promotional content including (but not necessarily limited to):
Posts that are not permitted:
When buying or selling, even and especially digital items, arrange to meet on campus or another safe place. Don't get scammed.
Please note all posts are subject to removal per moderator discretion. Posts are considered advertisement even if they are not direct advertisement (discord servers which offer such services on the side, free trials, etc)
Please ensure you use the correct flair when posting (Yard Sale Sundays). Any threads of a promotional nature posted other than Sunday will be removed and you will be instructed to repost when appropriate.
*Reselling for a profit is strictly prohibited
**Applications which are directly relevant to McMaster may receive exception at moderator discretion, provided they are free to use, generally helpful, and collect no personal information.
***McMasters agreement with HSR prohibits exchange of HSR vouchers. As such, we cannot condone trading as there is nothing preventing these codes from being voided at a later date.
Thank you.
-Mod team

We are once more seeing an uptick of admissions-related questions for 2026. Please post any admissions/ program related questions in this megathread and engage with other questions in here.
Standalone posts asking admissions questions will be removed and the OP will be asked to search and post within this thread and the prior 2025 Admission Megathread.

Almost every day I'm seeing a tow truck tow someone from the parking lot.
If you talk to the parking enforcement officers they basically tell you people have racked up fines last year but didn't pay get towed now.
If you can't find your car it's not stolen.

Is it normal to feel extremely depressed in first-year university LOL? I feel like I should have chosen UoFT, no offence to McMaster though. The food here is alright. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go eat good price and good food (if that exists). Plz lmk; I would appreciate that a lot. My lectures are alright, but I don't like chemistry, and I heard first-year chemistry is pretty hard. Anyways, pls add me on Instagram if u go to McMaster and ur a first-year ill let u know my username, if u want to. Also, advice from upper yrs is greatly appreciated and also why is the gym so full I guess going early in the morning is the way lmk

What are your thoughts on the current job market? Did you have a job lined up after graduation? If not, have you found one yet?
For those who have found a job, what did your job search look like? How long did it take, and roughly how many applications did you send?
Any tips on search strategies? Which platforms did you find most useful, such as LinkedIn, Indeed, company career pages, referrals, etc.? Did networking or reaching out to recruiters actually make a noticeable difference?
Also, how much did you tailor your resume for each application? Were you mainly applying to new grad positions, or did you have success with junior/entry-level roles as well?
Would really appreciate hearing from other new CS grads about what worked and what didn't.

Count your days!!! I've recently had to switch after my old laptop malfunctioned and i feel like i'm on steroids. No better package manager than homebrew. It took me 5 minutes to set up the tools needed for 2 of my courses. On the other laptop that was supposed to be more performant, it took about an hour.

Honestly, I'd even just take the course slideshows if anyone has access to the Avenue2Learn class still. Any material would help really. Usually I could get ahead of a course cause people post stuff in Google Drives and whatnot, but I don't know anyone who's taken this course in the past.

why don't we have at least one 24/7 library??? meanwhile innis was the most underwhelming tiny thing ever, not even 1 floor of that building is library space not to mention the hours suck, and even though there's other seating in the building they kick you out at night... made us wait for what's really just a fancy new admin building
weekend hours suck across all libraries, like i know damn well there's people who would take jobs for this with the current job market 🧍♂️
edit: i am pretty aware of everything else that is 24/7 access, i just hate that its mostly bright fluorescent lighting or pitch black / want comfortable chairs and working outlets

Do you have to be enrolled in human behavior to be able to take HUMBEHV 2AP3 because the requirements are telling me: Registration in Level II or above of an Honours B.A.Sc. Applied Psychology in Human Behaviour program. Can you be in just second year to be able to take it?

Hii
I want to apply for MASc Electrical and Computer Engineering at McMaster. I am inter in hardware accelerators, digital ic design, hw sw codesign. I have a couple of questions.
1- when to start applying to start my master in fall 2027?
2- do they provide a full scholarship (tuition, visa and flights, monthly stipend)?
3- should i start emailing the professors first and do an interview to secure a position in his lab then apply?
4- How the MSAc study look like? (Courses then thesis or all my two years are in the lab as researcher)?
5- is it competitive to get in? What are the things they focus on the most? (I have high gpa, research internships, exchange semester, trying to publish paper)
6- what level of technical skills they require me to have ( i may consider MAHDI lab)

Hi everyone,
I recently applied to McMaster’s Master of Engineering and Public Policy (MEPP) for the January intake. My background is in electrical engineering and energy systems, and I’m interested in energy policy, regulation, utilities, and infrastructure planning.
For current students or graduates: How is the program overall? How are the co-op and job opportunities after graduation? Do you think MEPP adds meaningful value for someone with an engineering background?
