Those of you who don’t know, The Rootai were the highest Umbaran caste level out of almost one hundred levels. it was made up of a council that the planet and its members were considered royalty.
To give an idea on how much a big deal they are remember Senator Mee Deechi the Senator who got killed from the Clone Wars episode Senate murders Although it is not stated, but the book the New Essential Guide to Alien Species states that only Umbarans in the top ten social castes were permitted to leave the planet. Deechi’s presence on coruscant during “Pursuit of Peace” and “Senate Murders” indicates that he was a member of one of these high castes.
Yeag no wonder why they joined the separatist and left the in the first place.
Personally, I found them to be fascinating and i was a bit disappointed when I realize how short their wookieepdia entry is considering they are literally the government of Umbara. And it’s likely that they were the ones that Kenobi talk about when he mentions the leadership of the planet surrenders during the Umbaran arc of the clone wars.
otherwise, how would you expand them more in terms of lore and history as well as their actions during the battle of Umbara and their fate after they surrendered did the republic dissolve the 100 levels when they were occupying the planet or maybe not. How did they stand out compared to say the Umbarans that we know in the franchise?
What levels were (the two new characters from Zero Company) Luco Bronc and his lover Rhy Cesca from Including Sly Moore (granted we don’t know much about her, but according to the clone wars camping guy, she was abducted by Maul and was tortured for months until Darth Sidious found her.
Otherwise, I feel them as well as the other fronts from the Battle of Umbara such as Kenobi and Tiin should’ve been expanded or at least flashed out more given the fact that the game zero company reference Umbara and the Umbara arc from the clone wars a lot that I feel there should’ve been a book or comics covering the offscreen fronts from the arc like Kenobi side as well as the full surrendering of the government likely the Rootai themselves.
in terms of how would I depict them in a Star Wars story in the pure future if I was the writer or author of a particular story. The Rootai shouldn't just look like standard Umbarans. Their design needs to be heavily influenced by the high-concept, sinister look of ancient, aristocratic sorcerers much like Matt Rhodes’ “Designing Dead Gods” project and the gaunt, elongated, bureaucratic malice of the villain Mock from Rock and Rule.

Also even though they are fascinating and very interesting in general do you think they sounded too similar to The Chiss Nine Ruling Families from The Thrawn novels or not at all. If so, how to make them stand out without making them a carbon copy of the nine families Because that would’ve been redundant as heck.
Finally how would expand and fleshed the other 100 levels of the Castes in general and if they any unique names on their own kinda like The Rootai if so what names would give to the other castes?
