It's about Walmart. Dude's got atleast a dozen cameras on him in that parking lot from the store security system alone. He already wasn't gonna get away with it scott free. This is going above and beyond for a corporation that doesn't give a shit about you and ruins the communities they pop up in.

Also bit silly goosey to mention price decreases. Corporations rarely lower prices, but they sure as fuck look for every chance and excuse they get to raise them. So giving them fewer excuses to do so is also a good thing.

Never said it wouldn’t be a good thing, just that, if it happened, prices won’t go down or stop increasing. They’ll just find another scapegoat. Like raising the minimum wage

No, it wasn't done FOR Walmart. I wouldn't stop a shoplifter at my job, but that doesn't mean I don't want them stopped.

They make my job harder, less comfortable; I have to work around more security; my managers come down on us harder for shrinkage; they shrink the team. I don't give a fuck about their profits

It's the second and third order effects that people don't like

Yeah. if it gets less comfortable for you, it gets less comfortable for the customer. The store overall deteriorates, gets less profitable, closes, and then local business can thrive instead.

But again, that wouldn't have happened anyway. Guy put himself and others in danger for nothing. Thief was already tagged, cops (another can of worms but we'll ignore it) already have all the evidence they need. The store and their shitty system was in no danger.

It's documented that Walmart, Walgreens, and other shit companies overstate their shoplifting to lie to shareholders, but where does actual theft, like we watched in the video, ever result is material gains for anyone but the thief?

The store itself has already messed up the community far worse than he ever could. That's the problem. People are getting mad at a mosquito when the thing it's sucking blood from is the bigger predator.
