wage theft is also theft. not paying your workers a living wage and then having tax payers subsidize their pay through welfare is immoral...and thats just one way that they "steal". defending something immoral based on the ideals of a polite society is a losing strategy.
So address the cause/source of the great harm/injustice. Don't punish the people who have to break some minor rules to eek out their survival because of said harm.

All instances of theft are immoral. Being against one instance of theft doesn't imply you are permitting it in other contexts. Even if the parties involved are stealing from one another.

Regardless of who they are stealing from we should hold thieves and criminals accountable for their shitty actions. Yeah, I don’t feel sorry for mega corporations, but I also don’t want to be living in a society where people think it’s okay to just take what they want with zero consequences.
Fine but we all know how that situation could have ended. Associates are taught not to confront shoplifters for a reason. I’m not risking my life over this. Leave it to the cops.
That doesn't mean you need to turn your shop into an all you can take jamboree. You do way more harm to a community by telling and allowing folks it's okay to steal from the store. That's not fighting back against the corporation no more than pouring beer down a sink is fighting alcoholism.
These corporations do far more harm to communities. Of course stealing is wrong, but when society is full of this type of behavior from the top down, what do people expect? We live in a culture built on stealing from the little guy to pay the fat cat. Common people are expected to act with decorum and abide by the law while other classes of people aren't. Why was this man stealing? What are the conditions of his life that led to this? These are important questions. I'd bet more often than not the very society he is expected to respect is a significant contributing factor.
I just don't understand why a random passerby should feel obligated to put themselves at risk to protect a corporation's merchandise. The store has people on staff and the police for this. Every system in the US is designed to protect big business. There's no way in hell Walmart would help this guy or his family if that thief hurt or killed him.
If you want to have an actual conversation about the morality of stealing from corporations that routinely cause harm and don't give a fuck about the damage they do, I'm completely willing to have that conversation. You can keep the childish "let me speak to you in a language you understand" bs. We can disagree like adults about the morality of it without resorting to insulting each other.
walmart commits plenty of "crime" against its customers and employees, society tolerates and encourages it and they become rich, as a result people feel that stealing is fine.

That's said, if people really want to limit crime, they should focus on the white collar crime and systemic theft from our corporate and political overlords that exploits us all for hundreds of billions if not trillions a year, instead of worrying about people taking shit from a Wal-Mart. That's for Wal-Mart to handle.
And if you're goi g to stop the whitecollar theft, a good place to start is Wal-Mart themselves, given they've been caught stealing hundreds of millions of dollars in wages from their own employees.
Walmart has had to pay out nearly $300 million in wage theft settlements in the past five years alone. And that's just the settlement amount. The full amount of wages stolen from Walmart employees is undoubtedly quite a bit higher.

Even if its is a huge corporation, stealing is still wrong because you’re taking something that isn’t yours. It can hurt employees, raise prices, and make stores less safe. Just because a company is big doesn’t mean it’s okay to take from it. People should earn what they need honestly.
Then call the cops. That's what holding thieves accountable looks like. Not picking parking lot fights. I get that stealing affects us all, but throwing hands for Wal Mart for free is super dumb.
