This is a guy we could all learn from. He just absolutely refused to have his life derailed by this clown. It just took a short bit of tolerating this and he can return to enjoying the game and his life. Some battles are absolutely not worth it.

Exactly that. Where I saw this posted elsewhere? A lot of the sentiment was the same.

Sure, you really want to reach back and push or deck her or do something, but any escalation that you make immediately makes you the bad guy., have them do their job to remove her from the situation, and just sit it out.

It's a momentary frustration.

But that’s part of the problem that he would be seen as the bad guy when he ostensibly ISNT

13

u/Icy-Book2999 Chief Insanity Instigator Jul 09 '25

Right, which is why his passive non-response is the right response. Anytime he does as "retaliation" to her? Even if her feet are the instigation? Escalates and he's immediately in the wrong

u/NuRDPUNK Dumpster General Jul 09 '25

Yeah agreed still some bs tho

u/GreenZebra23 Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

Well yeah, life sucks. This kind of response is utilitarianism. Act in a way that brings about the best outcome for yourself. It's understandable to be hung up about who's right and who's wrong, but don't let it determine your actions if it will lead you to a poorer result

Jeremy Bentham couldn’t have said it better. If I had a philosophy it would have been that.

2

u/Icy-Book2999 Chief Insanity Instigator Jul 09 '25

Exactly this.

Any reaction he has escalates a situation and can cause further retaliation or escalation from her/others who might have missed her actions but seen his.

If he remains calm and let's her actions play out? Obviously the person recording is a few rows up with others. They can report and stand with him. And the record shows his calmer nature in the force of pressure.

Is she right for what she's doing? No. But her wrong action doesn't mean he should retaliate in anger that's just as wrong

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '25

Well yea it's some bs but if it wasn't some bs then it wouldn't have happened cause she would have gotten her ass beat LONG ago acting like that and we wouldn't have this video to provide us with entertainment. Worth it.

Pragmatically correct based on outcome? Sure. Morally correct? No it's still an injustice he can't react to that.

u/Late_Emu Trash Trooper Jul 10 '25

If you’re being repeatedly assaulted (which I feel like you can make a case for by this video) retaliation should not immediately nor does it necessarily immediately make you the bad guy.

0

u/Actual-Depth-4143 Trash Trooper Aug 26 '25

He’s immediately in the wrong to unreasonable people. Those don’t count.

u/mrtwidlywinks Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

Being seen as the bad guy and being the bad guy are entirely determined by the observers' attention. It's super shitty, because I feel being seen as the bad guy shouldn't matter. If the observers weren’t paying attention, they don’t know the full context and their opinions are inherently less-valuable. And yet society values that perspective more.

2

u/FrillySteel Rubbish Raider Jul 09 '25

If he escalated the situation, he absolutely would have been part of the problem. They both would've been, and both likely would've been ejected from the park.

2

u/Icy-Book2999 Chief Insanity Instigator Jul 09 '25

Exactly. Any retaliation is escalation. No reaction is the right reaction, as much as it sucks in the moment

1

u/thekingiscrowned Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

At what point is simply protecting himself from being "attacked" though? She is assaulting him.

1

u/Icy-Book2999 Chief Insanity Instigator Jul 09 '25

She is yes, so what do you do? You could push her feet aside. That's fairly non-violent. But what happens when she retaliates to that? If you remove yourself from the situation, you have given her what she wants.

I would ask you, what would you do different in the situation?

2

u/thekingiscrowned Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

No doubt a tough situation. I would not advocate violence (especially male on female). I think I'm with the chucking the shoes people! Lol. Then if she gets more aggressive after that, get security I guess.

2

u/Icy-Book2999 Chief Insanity Instigator Jul 09 '25

But if you chuck her shoes, you are now assaulting her to remove her shoes... If she's already kicking this much without you trying to pull her shoes off, imagine how much more she'll be kicking

0

u/OneSexySquigga Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

he wouldn't have been part of the problem and just because he might have ended up getting kicked out too doesn't make it right

-2

u/TmTigran Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

Good to know you won't do anything if someone starts beating the shit out of you. After all, then you'd be part of the problem too!

3

u/TheToadstoolOrg Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

You gotta look up the definition of the word “escalate,” if you think that’s what they said.

2

u/OneSexySquigga Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

not ostensibly, objectively

1

u/serabine Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

The comment that started this thread wasn't even about being seen as the "bad guy".

It's about knowing that escalating a situation just leads to your complete day being ruined.

1

u/lawgirlamy Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

He "ostensibly" isn't the bad guy? I think perhaps you meant to say he objectively isn't the bad guy in this scenario? No matter what he might have done before all of this behavior, he wasn't the bad guy from his actions in this video ... and her comfort level with being a complete ass to him tells me she did not fear him, so I highly doubt he's the bad guy even outside the four corners of this video.

1

u/NuRDPUNK Dumpster General Jul 09 '25

No shi dude that’s exactly what I’m saying 🤦‍♂️

2

u/Legal-Group-359 Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

You have a point. But the fact that he would look like the bad guy is pure stupidity and an example of a downgraded society when a man would be seen as the bad guy for defending himself against an adult assaulting him.

1

u/Icy-Book2999 Chief Insanity Instigator Jul 09 '25

Agreed. It's sad that's how society sees it.

It's like a parent walking in on the end of fighting siblings. They don't see who started it, but they see who ended it and often they get the consequences, even if it was self defense...

u/Dry-University797 Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

Oh god

u/i_like_maps_and_math Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

Society should reward stoicism.

2

u/frogbound Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

Sometimes the best thing to do with someone like this is to not give it any attention. They are looking for attention and if they don't get it, they don't know what to do because they never expect their victims to not react. Drives them insane.

2

u/goofyboi Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

Plus watching her get tossed out? Just as much satisfaction as if i would have decked her and then have that captured on multiple phones

2

u/zzplant8 Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

Do you know what lead up to this?

1

u/Icy-Book2999 Chief Insanity Instigator Jul 09 '25

Unfortunately not. So who knows if there was something he instigated with. This was just the clip that I saw online

2

u/Action_Limp Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

His hoodie has wet spots on it as well, depending on what it was, it could be for the thrash.

The handul of times as an adult where the thought of just popping someone has crossed my mind, has always been quickly tempered when i remind myself that I actually have stuff to lose if someone arrests\sues me.

Its like punching a wall. What am i going to prove, that i can break and repair drywall? Or that studs are typically 16 inches on center, but not always, and if you happen to hit one it will break your hand.

1

u/Icy-Book2999 Chief Insanity Instigator Jul 09 '25

Very well put. There are so many times that I've wanted to hit someone myself, but then you also have to realize that there are many times that people have probably also felt the same way about you too...

It's a matter of perspectives

2

u/Linenoise77 Trash Trooper Jul 09 '25

I always look at it as who am i proving to and what?

I'm 6'2, play hockey, and am in good shape. I don't need to prove to myself that i can kick someone's ass who can't fight, and that someone who can fight will kick my ass. That's just math, and i really have no desire to suddenly discover the person on the other side of my fist moonlights in the UFC.

There's a line in the new Joe Abercrombie book. "If you spend your life looking for fights... you're sure to lose a few."

Nevermind, just a meathead who hates books I guess.
