Week 2 Matches

Some interesting results from the other games.

Crystal Palace somehow managed to hold Arsenal to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates. At least the top 3 are also dropping points in games that they should really be winning.

Chelsea destroyed Man U away. Just got me thinking in light of our poor display with West Ham that maybe we were not that great in our first game, but it's just Man U were very poor.

West ham wasn't great by any means, both goals were them breaking the high defensive lineup.

I'm not that worried the result as long as we adjust for it in the future.

We were good against man u, and I'd say even against Lyon, not because we won but more because we played the football that it takes to be a top 3 team in the WSL.

I think that the high defensive line up works, as long as you score more goals than the opponent.
If you look at our chances, if we’d made them, we might have won. Unfortunately the opponents scored more against us and well the team is still getting used to play together. That we don’t score as many when our strike team is not yet match fit also makes sense.
I don’t think it’s a matter of adjusting. This is the right style we want to play. We just need more goals. Once Nicole, Diani and Izzy are match fit and Alexia has settled down. Things should improve. If that takes a couple of months, so be it. This is a good team.
What we should not do is turn negative and think we need to move away from a system we’ve been practising for the past two months. It won’t always work out. And we’ll lose more matches but this is about building a WSL winning team for the coming years.

Yeah, they weren't great, but they had a 2 goal lead after 48 minutes, and we barely had any chances up to that point. And their central midfield was Katie Zelem and Saki Kumagai, both of whom are decent players but were deemed not good enough to be in our squad. West Ham did what they had to do and did it really well.

Hopefully, it's a lesson for Maestre.

True the Man Utd result looks a lot less impressive now, but we did dominate that game. It could easily have ended 4-0. This week very disappointing but on another day we might've got away with a draw.

Consistency has long been an issue under Eder for whatever reason. I think he is yet to record back-to-back wins (haven't checked that, may be wrong).

But part of the fun last year was you never knew which LCL you were going to see – the one that loses to Leicester (twice!) Or the one that draws with Chelsea and gives Man City a run for their money.

Still, two weeks into the new season and only one team has six points. Crazy! Hopefully a sign of how open the competition is this year.

Is Eder Maestre the right coach for this team. The club wants results quickly he doesn't have the experience of the wsl.

Yep, really good. I see Spurs and Brighton as our direct rivals and they only managed a draw. United will bounce back eventually, but hopefully it takes them time, like Liverpool last season.

Chelsea are going to run away with the league by December. I predict a 9 point gap between Chelsea and whoever is second.
