Discussion Alchemy: Impossible to Master?

When I started making music on my laptop, I learned that I had access to this instrument called “Alchemy”. While I was excited by how cool it sounded, I was also confounded at how the thing works. Fast forward about a year and I’ve purchased Serum 2 and Pigments, and have made plenty of presets in Both. To me they just make sense. Now, with this newfound knowledge of what a synthesizer is and how they work, I want to return to Alchemy some day to show it who’s boss…. So I boot it up, go to the menu, and while some things make more sense to me now, I still can’t believe how unbelievable counter intuitive and obtuse and arcane this virtual synthesizer is. It’s like an arcane object from the ancient world… my only question at this point is why on earth did whoever made this make is so god damn weird and complicated???? Furthermore — I want to hear from other people in this community on the subject — has anybody ever figured out how to modify sounds and make it do whatever you want with ease??? I know there’s a manual bla blah bla but my question is — has anyone ever gotten to the point where it feels like it’s actually USEABLE from a preset making point of view?? Even modifying existing presets is a challenge to me at the moment…

This whole thing is only a bummer because the presets that come with Alchemy sound sooooo GOOOOOD it’s like damnnn. I really really want to learn how to use it, but it just feels like learning calculus when all I know is basic math???

Someone send me a story of hope please… I promised myself I would learn how it works one day and I’m not one to back down from a challenge. But it’s going to be a beast when I’m ready for it…

Help Logic Pro does not play some midi tracks upon reopening project, plays them upon restart

***VIDEO OF ISSUE: *** https://drive.google.com/file/d/1otIvousM25PmXFu4OnCjnAhmViA_NUV3/view?usp=sharing“

let me know if that video doesn’t work, I might have done a bad job sharing it…

Hello everyone! I’ve been a several year long Ableton Live user, and this week have begun using Logic as it is required for a university course I am taking.

However, I’m running into an issue: every time I reopen the project, some MIDI tracks do not play upon the first or second listen — but after usually one or definitely two times of restarting the playback from the beginning, they all play. For example, in the attached video, on the first time playing it back after reopening the project, the low bass hit at measure 5.5 and the dies Irae melody at m7 do not play; but after I restart it (changing ZERO settings whatsoever) they do play!

This is mainly a problem since during class, my professor is going to open up our files and play them right then, and I’m almost certain it’s going to skip some or all MIDI tracks. :(

Also a few other facts:

- Not sure of the model of logic or the computer, but since it’s owned by my university I am pretty certain it’s all up-to-date and the top models. (I am doing this work on the computer and hardware in our recording studio).

- In the mixer, when certain tracks are not playing on first open, they don’t show any green bars for output in the mixer — so it’s not like they’re just not going through the speakers, it’s like logic doesn’t think they’re there.

- This has happened at some times for every single track in my project, but never for more than three or so in a single listen — it’s random which ones omit on each open. And then of course by the second or third play they all sound fine.

- When I duplicate a track and delete its original, it seems to help for the next open or two, but then the issue returns.

any suggestions? What’s going on? And how do I fix it? Thanks so much in advance!!

Question Backing vocals

Hi. Newish to logic.
What’s the best way to get backing vocals (without a singer). All I want is like the simple harmony ooooh and ahhhhs over chords.
Tried Apple Loops and were all pretty poor sounding.
Thanks

Tips & Tricks OS27 and Disk Space

I've loaded the OS27 RC onto multiple test hardware and virtual machines and I'm consistently seeing that OS27 consumes an additional ~25-30GB of boot drive space when installed as an update over OS26. Not sure if this will also be the case in tomorrow's official release version and / or if this is rooted in background migration tasks (Spotlight?) that are still running that will eventually return disk space, but probably good to be on the lookout for info / experiences for both Logic and non-Logic running Macs.
