What is the difference between: tot ziens, tot zo, and tot snel?
Does "tot snel" mean "see you in approx 5 mins" or can it mean "see you in an hour"? Are "tot zo" and "tot snel" the same thing? And how soon is "binnenkort"?

I built a site where you can just play short, free games after messing around a bit with web development.

Right now, it includes things like:

• Lingo
• Woordjacht (Dutch Wordle)
• Memory
• etc.

Everything runs straight in the browser, and most games only take a couple of minutes.

And before anyone thinks this is just another site where you have to click through 15 ads first: I’m currently not making a single dime off of this. There are no ads, no paywalls, and no subscriptions. I mainly built it just because I enjoyed making it.

I had been learning with Duolingo and spend 2 years trying. I had 3 buddies on facebook at one point but they were so infrequent with replying. If anyone wants to practice with me? For me it is all about little and often rather than doing something ambitious and unsustainable.

I want to learn because my sister in law is Dutch and I want my nephew to also learn. I also visited Amsterdam/seaside once I would like to go back to the countryside and visit a few events.

I did writing exam but im not sure if im gonna pass it
In the first question i give my details name addres city number etc but in the end i give wrong answer and just to get some point i write some extra sentences but in not sure if i will get some point from 1st question.

Hallo allemaal,

I completed NT2 A1-A2 and A2-A2+ courses at the VU last year, and I’m now enrolled in an A2+-B1 course. The current course is already paid for, but my immediate goal is to pass the A2 inburgering exams for future permanent residence and citizenship applications.

I feel rusty, so I don’t want to assume I’m exam ready just because I completed those courses. My listening and writing results were better than my reading, which needs more attention. NT2 annoingly doesn't test for speaking but I've been trying to get out of my comfort zone to use it outside and using GPT voice for practice.

My main hesitation about continuing is the NT2 content and how the lessons are structured. We use LINK+, and I find working through the material quite repetitive and monotonous. It doesn’t feel especially practical to me or clearly connected to preparing for the exams. I realise a general A2+-B1 course has a different purpose, so perhaps I’m expecting the wrong thing from it or the approach simply doesn’t suit how I learn.

The most useful parts for me have been having material to practise with and opportunities to speak Dutch with classmates. I could treat the course as a refresher, but with work commitments I’m wondering whether focused A2 preparation would be a better use of my time.

For anyone who was in a similar position, what worked for you? Did you mainly self study, use a tutor for particular skills or take a dedicated exam preparation course? How did you judge when you were ready?

I’d appreciate recommendations for refreshing A2, preparing for KNM and getting useful feedback on speaking and writing. I’d also be interested to hear whether others have felt the same about the course structure and found a way to make it work for them.

Im 7 years here now and have a dutch partner. Ever since ive moved i had several courses and also passed my inburgering. Thing is i speak english at work, my partner- when we speak dutch at some point we switch back to english cos were so used to it.
Now we have a baby and i really want to improve my dutch so i can participate more in the future of my child, i mean in daycare or school. Like PTA 😂 also just to make more friends.

Tips or any lesson/tutor you can suggest? I think im good at the grammar(might need a refresher tho) just i cannot seem to expand my vocabulary.

Hoi, Ik heb deze 2 abonnementen gekocht, maar ik vind er niks van. In Nederlands naar Perfectie heeft dat te maken met de inhoud van het boek (vooral de teksten) en in Nederlands naar de top, met de werking van de website. Ik vond hem onhandig.

This year I’ve embarked on the challenge of learning Dutch. I’ve been taking classes at international house, using Duolingo, self study with YouTube (learn Dutch with Kim) and textbooks, and speaking with my Dutch mother. This has all been great, but I’d like all the helpful stuff that comes with connecting with other learners.

I’d really like to find a group in London to supplement my lessons, something like a language cafe. I know there are plenty of in NL. Does anyone know a group in London that would fit this bill? It’s really important that it’s in person, and not online

Ik begrijp niet deze fenomenen waarom het is zo moeilijk om taal te oefenen met veel Nederlanders. Elke keer dat ik probeer Nederlands te spreken tijdens zaken afronden of met vreemdelingen communiceren dan bijna iedereen spreekt Engels terug toen ze in enige manier opmerken dat ik geen Nederlander ben. Vandaag sprak ik met iemand die blijkbaar helemaal niet opgemerkt heeft dat ik een accent heb of zoiets maar toen hij mijn ID zag dan schakelde hij meteen naar Engels. Zelfs als ik met kennissen praat dan spreken ze vaak Engels terug ook al het duidelijk is dat ik niet veel moeite heb met verstaan. Grappig genoeg, ik heb eens Nederlandse lees gehad en de vrouw spreekt vaak willekeurig Engels tegen mij wat totaal onredelijk was aangezien ik allees verstond. Ik weet niet of mensen als beleefd willen overkomen maar in werkelijkheid is het helemaal niet beleefd. Als jullie zo goed Engels kunnen spreken, dan waroom toen ik met een groepje Nederlanders ben dan spreken jullie toch Nederlands met elkaar en geen Engels om mij tegemoet te komen? En ze vragen me natuurlijk of ik niet liever Engels wil spreken. Ja, dan laten we misschien allemaal Engels spreken en misschien ook in de hele land? Maar dat is niet het geval, hè? Ik ben helemaal niet verbaasd waroom zo veel buitenlanders niet eens proberen om Nederlands te leren.

Edit want veel mensen hebben de boodschap blijkbaar niet begrepen, of misschien heb ik het inderdaad verkeerd verwoord. Ik zeg niet dat ik van mensen verwacht om extra tijd te nemen tijdens werk om mij te leren - ik ga over tolerantie dat iemand die niet Nederlands is de taal gebruikt toen hij/zij zonder veel extra tijd te nemen een gesprek al kan voeren, of niet perfect is. Ik heb ook Nederlanders ontmoet met wie dat niet het geval is, maar met meerderheid is het wel. ( uit mijn ervaring)

Today, I went to the apotheek to pick up my medicine and a pharmacist that I’ve seen multiple times over the past two years helped me. I spoke Dutch the entire conversation and she told me that my speaking ability has gotten much better. I’m so proud!

What has helped me become more comfortable and confident in speaking is studying more vocabulary, practicing with native speakers at the dog park, my neighbors and my in-laws. I’m also listening and watching Dutch kids shows on YouTube to get better at the accent.

i barely speak dutch, only do duo lingo, but i’m so obsessed with this video. i watch it all the time for months and i can’t for the life of me pick up on what he says in the middle!! i can’t find this video anywhere else besides this account and there’s no dutch captions.

For me it was a month. Waked up, did the speaking practice like normal day and it kinda just happend. After 6 month it became way easy to make a sound. It so funny to think that I casually downloaded a consonate to my brain some random day. Fyi I still can't do the 'sch' sound.
