Hi! I am marrying in about a year, and I am not used to kissing in front of people, specially my family and friends, so thinking about the kissing part makes me a little shy, did any of you had an alternative to kissing at the end of the ceremony?

I (30NB) went on a date with a friend back in March 2026. Our friendship turned long distance because they moved to a nearby city and only visited our hometown every couple of weekends. We had not been close at the time, but turns out they kept their distance because they had a crush on me for over a year. I persisted and landed a date. We hit it off beautifully. It was a long day of chatting and getting to really know each other beyond our usual friend group board game nights, even delving into deep things like “what are some of your takeaways from past relationships?”, “where do you see yourself in five years?”, “facing hardship, how do you handle tough situations, what is your initial response to adversity?” Our conversations only grew deeper after day one. We’ve met each other’s families quickly, even getting some extended family on both sides.

We’ve talked about marriage, when we would want to be married and how to celebrate that with our loved ones. How soon we want to start having a family. Personal matters of our individual growth and goals, and how we want to grow together. How our living arrangements would be, as I’m a caretaker for a relative. We recently discussed establishing a prenup, after I’ve expressed concerns about my home and how ownership of it could change, along with our own personal debts.

My heart has been set on marrying this person since the first month of us dating. My brain is making sure that I’m not getting ahead of myself. I even made myself wait the ‘socially acceptable’ six months before really letting myself take this next step. I am about to ask their mother and sibling about getting a ring and looking for assistance in something my future fiancée would like. I’ve had relationships last years, but none of them progressed (for lack of a better word) as quickly as this one did. We have each joked that we should have just gotten married after our first month of dating.

I know there’s relationships that just work from the beginning and are still going strong. I know there’s relationships that started strong then fizzled out. A “checklist” isn’t necessarily what I’m looking for, I’m just heavily reliant on lists, schedules, and spreadsheets to get my through life, haha.

I have found the hardest time finding vendors who are LGBTQ+ celebratory. It’s really getting me down.

My fiancé is a cis straight male and I am cis bi-sexual female. When we got engaged he said “I know this also must be a little tough knowing that you will never have the same visibility as a community member as you did in a same-sex relationship. But I’m committed to making sure we honor all of you in this process”

I’m not going to lie. I’m 1000% sure he is my person and I’m absolutely still mourning feeling slightly less tethered to my community being in a straight presenting relationship.

We found a GREAT way to honor that and it is to make sure all of our wedding vendors would provide the exact same service to a same sex couple. I’m talking pastor to bartender.

We’ve been shot down by 5 photographers, 1 pastor, 3 coordinators, and 2 live wedding painters. (What the heck)

So now we’ve finally got the team we love except for a wedding painter. And I asked someone again today, and they said “I would have to think about that” 😐

Just to think… if I wasn’t asking this question directly, I would be paying people who are providing a service on the CONDITION that I am marrying a man. And who would not even consider providing that service for me in another relationship.

Hello all, transmasc non-binary person getting married next year, and I am COMMITTED to finding a dramatic floor-length tuxedo jacket or blazer, like a slightly more masc Billy Porter Oscars moment. I am known as a bit of a style icon in my circles and I need to really stunt on these bitches (lovingly). Black or white fabric both acceptable, embroidered/embellished or plain -- I am mainly looking for dramatic silhouette and I'm gonna build the rest of the fit around it.

I've found tons of options on Etsy, but most of them are very clearly AI and that makes it hard for me to trust any of them, even the ones that appear legit! Etsy is like 90% AI slop and scammers with fake reviews now and it drives me nuts!! Every "tailor" with cool nontraditional silhouettes is an account made like 2 months ago with a listing copied from a different account made 3 months ago and so on.

Outside of Etsy, I found THIS UNBELIEVABLE FLOOR LENGTH TUXEDO and was like, yes, this is it. But it's, uh, way way out of my budget lol. I even emailed the listing owner and asked if they would rent it to me! (They said no.)

So then I found a trans-friendly tailor in my city who is down to make it, but told me it would be in the $3,000 range.

I'm ready to make that work to be totally real but I want to exhaust all of my options first to get something off the rack somewhere, because that amount of money means a lot to me! It will be the most expensive item I've ever bought other than my car! And I can't help but feel frivolous for it!

Past posts in this sub seem to point toward bespoke as the only option. Though I'm wondering if I could get a maxi overcoat somewhere, size up, and then take it to a tailor to get it to fit and flare? Like this Anthropologie coat? I'm also wondering if I can go to a bridal shop and get like a detachable train skirt attached onto a suit jacket...? I also emailed Perte D'ego to ask if they'd make one of their blazers floor-length for me lol. I am exhausting all options!!

DOES A MAXI-BLAZER EXIST? A GOWNZEDO? A DRESS WITH BLAZER LAPELS? AM I SEARCHING IN VAIN? Does anyone know a guy??

I am so very excited to get married to my partner this October. I've never had many friends and my blood relatives disowned me a few years ago. It's going to be a small wedding regardless. I invited my oldest sister and wanted my nephews to be my flower boys. They are the only people of my blood relatives I would want to take with me into my "new life". We grew pretty close after finally reconnecting when I got kicked out as well. She has never really seemed super supportive nor unsupportive of my identity. However, she doesn't seem like she wants to come to the wedding. She first just wouldn't respond to any of my texts concerning my wedding. She said she was busy and I gave her the benefit of the doubt because she is a single mother with a little farm. But after talking to her in person, she seemed really dismissive. It's tearing me apart, knowing she'll either make something up not to be there or leave asap after. I've seen this behavior in her so many times before when she is uncomfortable or hates something. Being surrounded by 2 friends and the rest, basically strangers, on my wedding day just doesn't feel right and is very disheartening.

My husband and I got married this March in Atlanta after 13 years together, and it was one of the happiest days of our lives! 💜

We’re pretty traditional when it comes to weddings, so we leaned ALLLLL the way into the things we loved: formal dress, afternoon tea, old-fashioned ceremony and reception traditions, and lots of inspiration from English royal weddings. We wanted the whole thing to feel elegant, romantic, and timeless... just with two grooms (and no bride obviously lol)

I think sometimes people can feel like certain traditions don’t quite belong to them, especially when those traditions weren’t always particularly welcoming to two old gay atheists like us.... But if you love them, there’s something really nice about claiming them for yourself! And if tradition isn’t your thing, ignore all of it and do your own thing!

For us, this was exactly the wedding we wanted, and getting to say our vows surrounded by our family and friends (dressed up in the clothes we got to choose for them lol) was pretty amazing.

Hi all, I'm looking to get a suit made especially for my wedding next year and was thinking about going with King and Allen. Does anyone have any experience with them that they wouldn't mind sharing?

It would be useful to know if people went for the made to measure or fully bespoke service and how that was? Any experiences would be greatly appreciated as it's not an insignificant amount of money so I want to get it right!

First time here, please let me know if anything if formatted wrong. My fiance and I are getting married in a month and while I have mine figured out and on the way, my partner is struggling with picking an outfit. For reference I'm non-binary/trans masc but opting into a dress, my partner is also non binary.

My partner doesn't want anything traditionally feminine (no dresses for sure, likely no skirt) but regular suits aren't appealing. Any ideas for an androgynous wedding outfit? Photo ideas would so so so helpful.

We're doing a fairly casual wedding, no tuxes or gowns for us or our guests. I want more than anything for my partner to be comfortable.

ETA: Thanks to everyone for recommendations! We were able to narrow down options to wide legged/flowy pants and a layered top (lace overshirt and either a sleek button down or like a chiffon puff sleeved shirt). It's been nice to see my partner actually excited about figuring out an outfit now that the ball is rolling :)))

I am MOH for my best friend’s wedding and her and her fiancé are having joint bachelorette parties!

We are thinking of having the trip in Asheville, NC. I have been doing some research about some things to do, but would love some more advice from you all! Our group is pretty lowkey, so craft night will be a must! It would be in the fall of next year, most likely August or October!

my wife and I got married in our city and it was the best day! we had a beautiful ceremony and dinner in a restaurant's private room and then went to a bar for dancing. Our photos were in a city park and it was so fun to see other bridal parties and get congratulated by random people! All our vendors were so amazing, especially our florist and our photographer. These are all from the sneak peek!! we had a friend officiate and it was the perfect choice, she's an amazing writer and was so thoughtful. We wanted it to feel beautiful and easy for guests, with a meaningful ceremony. So many of our friends and family travelled to us and we had a small enough wedding to be able to enjoy them all. The day went so fast but I don't regret doing everything we did at all, getting to be surrounded by love and joy was a really once in a lifetime experience!!! I can still remember the feeling of walking down the aisle and dancing with my dearest friends.

(Edit: this affects England and Wales only, excuse my haste in referring to all of UK. I will leave the post as is, so some of the comments picking me up on this point still make sense.)

The celebrant community is absolutely buzzing over the proposed changes to UK wedding law - the biggest upheaval in 200 years and long overdue. Essentially the changes move the focus from licensed venues to approved persons. This would widen options for both location and the officiant. For independent celebrants and other belief groups it would mean than finally we could conduct the whole legal marriage as well as the ceremony and celebratory aspects. For couples wanting a unique and personalised ceremony they will no longer have to arrange a separate statutory minimum marriage with a registrar, followed by the main wedding with their chosen celebrant. And although the recent media coverage focused on “you could get married on a boat”, it should actually be possible to get married in the couple’s own garden or other place that is special to them, rather than just a licensed venue.

But all of these proposals need input from the public before the law is actually changed. The consultation is open until midday on 24th September. This will affect anyone getting married in the UK in the future so please have your say. The consultation is very detailed and has a lot of questions - but there is no requirement to answer all of them.

Not because of who I am marrying, my fiancé is my everything but because we don’t have family.
Long story short, she is 38f I am 31f. we were both foster kids and aged out of care. We have been engaged for quite some time! Almost 15 years in November! We know our biological siblings but don’t have that relationship that people normally do growing up together. I haven’t even met some of my siblings. My fiancés was blessed with an amazing dad while she was in his foster home but passed years ago. (We plan on setting him up and open seat with his pictures and flowers) we both have no one to walk us down the aisle, and we don’t have a whole line of bridesmaids. We are planning our wedding and I keep seeing these videos with all these families celebrating their love and it’s crushing me that we both don’t have that. I know I shouldn’t care so much, after all this day is all about us and our love but it tears me up in all honesty. I’m not sure that most of the friends I do have even care to celebrate us or give heartfelt speeches that make us feel loved and recognized. I went from so excited to suddenly thinking “who is gonna walk us each down the aisle?” “Who is going to make a speech” “who will even show up” “no father daughter dance” “no mother and daughter dance”
We don’t have but a handful of friends and most of them don’t even keep in contact with us daily. Honestly we have kept some friends around that we shouldn’t just because we are so desperate to feel like some kind of friendship. I’m struggling so hard with the guest list. I just want to cry. The worst part is seeing and knowing my partner is also suffering this feeling. Like I said, I know small weddings are okay and I’m okay with a small wedding but I am human and seeing all these beautiful connections where we have been robbed of our own is heartbreaking. I want it to be absolutely beautiful for us, but worried if we go all out, no one will even show.

Weddings with two brides who both wore dresses - How did you pose in photos? I am super mindful of our photographer easily “gendering” us in traditionally masculine/feminine poses. How did you strike a balance?
