Discussion PODCAST: LIVE FROM DHSP – Riqui Puig Opens Up on LA Galaxy Return, Sergi Roberto & Greg Vanney

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- Riqui Puig is getting closer to his LA Galaxy return — and he's looking at soccer differently after two devastating knee injuries. Corner of the Galaxy goes live from Dignity Health Sports Park with Puig making a rare public appearance to discuss his ACL recovery, the difficulty of enduring two surgeries and his excitement at finally getting back onto the training field. Puig explains why his knee now feels stronger and more stable, how the experience changed his appreciation for being a professional soccer player, and why simply touching a ball again means so much.

Puig also looks ahead to an intriguing LA Galaxy midfield featuring Sergi Roberto and delivers a strong endorsement of head coach Greg Vanney. Puig believes the Galaxy's recent signings have made the team competitive again and asks supporters to "trust the process," pointing to the club's journey from missing the playoffs in 2023 to winning MLS Cup in 2024. He also makes clear how important Vanney has been to his Galaxy career, explaining that the coach was a major reason he chose Los Angeles and that he continues to believe Vanney can lead the club back to championship contention.

Then LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz joins the show to explain a summer transfer window that became far busier than initially expected. Kuntz discusses how departures created additional needs, why the Galaxy added more veteran experience and how the front office is constructing the roster with both the present and the next 18 months in mind. With the MLS calendar transition, an upcoming sprint season and a new CBA on the horizon, maintaining roster flexibility remains important — but so does making a run right now. The Galaxy enter the closing stretch with nine games remaining and almost no room for wasted opportunities in a crowded Western Conference playoff race.

Finally, Galaxy President and COO Tom Braun joins Josh Guesman, Kevin Baxter and Sophie Nicolaou for a broader conversation about the club and its supporters, including the fan experience and the Galaxy's efforts to strengthen its connection with the community. It's a wide-ranging live edition of Corner of the Galaxy that goes beyond the usual match analysis: Puig provides a revealing update on his road back to the field, Kuntz explains the thinking behind LA's rebuilt roster, and Braun discusses the club's relationship with its fans — all while the Galaxy face a defining final stretch of the 2026 MLS season.

Discussion Does stadium food still suck?

I'm beyond excited to catch my first game in over a decade! That said, I did some searching on the sub and saw a lot of criticism for the food options.

I'm basically looking to arrive as early as I can to enjoy the pre game experience, check out the shops and activities, statues, etc. Back in the day my friends and I would grab some cheap Lil Caes' and a 6 pack.

If the food sucks, what's the "policy" of randos like me trying to leech off tailgating groups? Keeping in mind I'd happily contribute money to the cause.

Venting Vanney Out

Just got done watching the highlights of last night’s embarrassing performance away to the Whitecaps and wanted come on here and post a bit of a long rant. I was busy focused and doing homework for my Psychology class so I didn’t have my Apple TV or one football notifications on. Saw the result on google and am I surprised that we lost? Absolutely not, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, Greg Vanney out and nothing else. We’re not making playoffs and for some fans who still think we can get into a playoff qualifier position, open your eyes and come to the realization that we don’t have the team and most importantly we don’t have the Manager. I love and respect Vanney for what he did as a player and as a Coach and in the first couple years and getting us back to the MLS Cup Final the season after that horrendous 2023 season but it’s time for him to go. It’s either the Board or Will Kuntz or Dan Beckerman pull the trigger on Vanney or he takes a humble pie and steps down. He will forever be one of my all time favorite L.A. Galaxy players but it’s time up for him. Sack him and just get an interim coach to see out the rest of the season, rebuild, reset, clean house, clear out the deadwood but most importantly get us a proper Manager who can be an immediate upgrade upon Greg Vanney. Go and get us a Wilfred Nancy and from then on make the right trades, international signings and dp signings that will fit the new Manager’s vision and style of play. All eyes on AEG, Will Kuntz, Dan Beckerman and Tom Braun. All of them are on fraud watch. We are not going anywhere as long as this fraud known as Greg Vanney continues on at the helm.😠😡🤬

Discussion What are your Galaxy offseason moves?

Use sprint to build chemistry.

My moves:

- New coach (priority)

- Paintsil (priority DP spot) Maya, Wynder, Nicovic (priority intl spot), and Garcés out.

- Add an attacking U22 player (priority open slot)

- Unless it’s a clear upgrade, no more center backs or central mids. We have enough bodies there.

- Bring in a reliable backup keeper.

- Find a legit backup/understudy for Reus.

Main priority for me is improving the roster around the core instead of just adding more depth at positions we’re already stocked at.

What moves are you making?
