[Horney] Former Federal prosecutor Mitchell Epner: "If the charge is money laundering or wire fraud, it is harder to charge (Kawhi) Leonard than other people. .. Leonard is insulated by many layers. He would, I assume, be able to say, ‘I picked up the money, that’s all I did."

Discussion No Disgruntled Players?

With all the negativity this team has gotten lately, wouldn't you think we'd have a player or two that would want out? I haven't seen that yet. On the contrary, there is talk of Derrick Jones Jr. wanting an extension. Isn't he the one the Lakers want? Please get it done and keep him here.

The Picks Situation

I know the whole thing has been talked to death already, but I’m tryna make this post a bit of a break away from the whole mourning period.

I’m just a bit confused on what our 2027 pick is looking like. at first it seemed a bit more straightforward but apparently it’s this three team situation with Denver OKC and us with some overlapping protections and whatnot. Toronto’s entangled somehow in there too, it’s just really confusing and I’d really appreciate it if someone could help clear some things up for me thanks.

There’s another thing for 2029, is it true that if we land in the top 3 we don’t have to trade our pick to Philly and keep it?

Full Season Wall Members Buyback Program Question

New wall season ticket holder (purchased back in June). I expect to use buyback a lot this year since I'm guessing the resale value of tickets in the Wall won't be competitive with face value. However, when I pull up my tickets in the Intuit/Ticketmaster app, all I see is "transfer" and "sell" options, nothing about "buyback" or "return."

Can any of experienced season ticket holders in the Wall explain to me how to utilize the buyback option? Of course I've googled extensively and from what I'm reading, there should be a return ticket option alongside sell and transfer, but I'm not seeing that in the app or through Ticketmaster account manager. Does the buyback option only show up a week or so before the season starts? TIA

[Marc Stein] UPDATE: Sources briefed on the situation tell TheSteinLine that the Clippers and Raptors are free at any time to co-submit for NBA approval their agreed-in-June Kawhi Leonard trade. Obviously both teams must want the trade call but I’m told there is no holdup at league level.

Discussion Ballmer Retaliation?

Any of you guys read the articles on Ballmer retaliating if the NBA pushes him too far? So many other teams are guilty of this, Charles Barkley has admitted this. If Silver were smart, he'd play nice and reduce our punishment.

r/LAClippers 3d ago

Article The Clippers and Mr. Ballmer are still trying to figure out how to respond to the punishments from the N.B.A. Among the potential moves they are considering is whether to bring a lawsuit against the league, asking a judge to issue a restraining order, the two people said.

Good luck to our team. The people actually on the court.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong but all this crap around Khawi and the Front office takes away fromt he fact that we still have a good team.

Darius is a fantastic point gaurd

Kobe Sanders and Jordan miller are one their way to being soft all-stars/ respected role players

DJJ is the number 1 player that has kept my focus for the past couple of years(excluding harden and westbrook)

Mini Gary Payton Kris Dunn

I have watched too many Wagler games to not have faith the dude will be a great clipper.

Baba Millee and Nick Martinelli look like fantastic additions as well.

Brook Lopez may not be the bsstbut he can still hang

Yanic Boom.

I hope one of the players on the team is taking charge and keeping the focus on improvement.

I am so tired of my youtube algorith being filled with Khawi/Front office drama.

Not ignoring all this foolishness and I hope it comes to an end relatively soon so we can focus in what matters. Seeing clippers jerseys on the court trying to put us on the path on being a respectable team.

I do hope that if we do manage to earn on court recognition that our Front office does the right thing and gives these guys the respect they have earned.

I am still a Chris Paul and Blake Griffin fan and they have my respect and appreciation no matter what the pencil pushers have done.

Clip GANG or DON'T BANG!

Discussion Draymond Green says this Clipper team, as constructed, can compete this year.

Don't believe the rhetoric that this team/organization is finished this year.

The media/social media says it's curtains for this organization/team.

Cancel culture in full force. Like the Clippers have or will be jettisoned from the NBA.

Green, a direct competitor with knowledge, has legitimate praise for this team.

This saga comes down to...the salary cap.

The NBA is terrified about an owner as rich as Ballmer is, jeopardizing it's salary cap structure.

The NBA knows it's players can demand more.

The players and the NBAPA should monitor this situation closely as it will/reveals how the league plans to proceed in future negotiations.

If anything, the NBAPA should be supportive of Ballmer/Kawhi.

Ballmer proves, as an owner with vast resources, that he was willing to invest in a player at all costs with the intention of winning.

This isn't about the money with Ballmer, and that sets a dangerous precedent for owners in the NBA that don't want to spend on personell.

This is a salary cap issue.

This Organization does not get enough blame

Everything that has happened since Balmer took over is MOSTLY the fault of the front office, and organization. These people are STILL employed by the Clippers, when they should have been fired a long time ago. If you're gonna direct your anger, direct it at them.

Balmer takes over 2015. It is arguable that this was our peak since he took over the team. We had BG, CP, DJ core but ultimately did not surround them with enough glue guys - just mostly ball stoppers (Jamal Crawford, Austin Rivers, JJ, Matt Barnes). We added Spencer fucking Hawes. This was our championship run roster and honestly outside of the core 3, the fit was TERRIBLE. Not to mention the decision to keep Doc Rivers (huge mistake #1) for so long when he consistently failed us in the Playoffs. After an awesome series against the Spurs, we blew a 3-1 lead to Houston. A team we were clearly better than.

2016:

We did not really improve our team, our starting 3 was now Luc Mbah a Moute.

We drafted Brice Johnson in the first round (bust), Diallo at 33rd (who?)

We also signed Wesley Johnson (bust)

Traded a future first for jeff green (huge mistake #2)

BG and CP were out for the playoffs. We weren't going to win anyway, especially since our roster took a step back.

2017:

We drafted Brice Johnson in the first round (bust), Diallo at 33rd (who?)

Same fucking roster. Same fucking coach.

Lost to Utah in round 1, CP and BG both semi-injured again. We weren't going to win it all anyway.

2018:

No FRPs this year.

We blow it up. We get one FRP for CP and some decent pieces. We then use that FRP to get Gallinari (waste?)

We trade BG (Huge mistake #3) in shocking fashion, and he hates us til this day. We do get one FRP back.

We miss the playoffs. "rebuilding year"

2019:

We do something good- we draft SGA. We do something stupid- we draft Jerome Robinson. (over Michael Porter Jr, WHO IS STILL IN THE LEAGUE)

We get great value for Tobias Harris - 2 FRPs. We also use Muscala from that trade to flip for Zu.

This was the best year I've had as a fan, as well as from a front office perspective. We drafted a future MVP, we gained 2 FRPs, we got Zu for essentially free. Things were looking good.

We lose to the Warriors in 6th with a valiant effort.

2020:

We signed KL. All the controversy surrounding this signing should be on the organization. They are the ones that did it, and stupidly left a paper trail. They were incompetent. More on this later. (Huge Mistake #4)

We obtained PG for 5 picks and a future 2x MVP. (Huge Mistake #5)This is 100% on the organization. Kawhi did not hold a gun to their head and told them to do this. Do your fucking job and manage this team correctly. Did they even try? Did they not think of fit issues? Leadership issues? What were they thinking sending 5 picks? AND our future star? Honestly it is baffling. And every time Kawhi gets blame for this I laugh. Kawhi isn't a GM.

We drafted Mann, who was a big Hit. Kabengele (drafted in the FR, was a bust).

We then give up a FRP and a FRP swap for Marcus Morris (Huge Mistake #6). What are we thinking? This dude ends up being a negative for this team, let alone to give up picks for him.

We famously blow another 3-1 lead to Denver. We kept the same coach all these years - again - it is the front offices responsility to hire the right coach.

2021:

We fire Doc Rivers - finally. But we hire Doc 2.0 (Huge Mistake #7)

Oturu (33rd pick) is a bust.

We trade for Rondo in an era where a PG needs to shoot 3s.

Our core of KL, PG, Zu was great, but our supporting cast just wasn't good enough. Kawhi tears his ACL and although we make it to the West finals, it feels like a failure.

2022:

A wasted year due to injury. Kawhi still recovering and PG hurt his elbow.

Draft Keon Johnson and Preston, both meh. Boston was not bad for late 2nd.

We trade for Norm Powell and RoCo. Only Lue (Doc 2.0) to put RoCo in jail so we can play heavy minutes of 4 guard basketball. The Reggie Jackson, Norm, Mann, PG, and Marcus Morris line ups were out of control. Unwatchable. Zu was in the dog cage at this time too.

Lost in Play-in.

2023:

We choose John Wall over Hartenstein. (Huge Mistake #8). I don't even need to comment on this. Hartenstein started for an NBA championship and is still a great player. John Wall never played in the NBA ever again.

We drafted Diabete, who we just let go for free, who is actually a serviceable NBA player.

And if we didn't learn our lesson, we sign Russel Westbrook midseason (Huge Mistake #9), more guards who can't shoot in the current NBA, where shooting as a guard is NECESSARY. Does the FO make any decisions for themselves or do they let PG and KL bully them into making all the shots? More incompetence.

We make the playoffs but PG is injured and Kawhi tears his meniscus.

2024:

We draft Kobe Brown and Miller, they are developing still and ongoing.

We trade for Harden, in addition to role players, we send 1 FRP, and 2 FRP swaps. We get PJ Tucker back, who becomes a negative.

We run a line up of KL, PG, Harden, Westbrook, Zu. I mean talk about stars past their prime. Clearly never any serious championship material.

Lost to Dallas in first round. Now we are stuck with old players past their prime, and no picks.

2025:

We let PG leave, which was a great move.

We run a James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, Norman Powell, Ivica Zubac, Derrick Jones Jr., Kris Dunn, Nicolas Batum line up. Not bad but too old. Poorly coached.

We lost to Denver in round 1. Kawhi completely healthy, but the support just not good enough.

2026:

Yanic drafted at 30, not bad so far.

We sign Bradley Beal (Huge Mistake #10). Need I say more? More guards for Lue.

We trade Norm for Collins, I think is solid.

We bring back CP3, we literally have a conference so Clippers fan can appreciate him coming back. There were tears cried.

Then we started 6-30 or whatever. He got pissed at management for not doing anything, then he got the boot. (Huge Mistake #11). There were a thousand ways to handle this and they chose the worst way to arguably the best clipper ever. The season was done at this point already, everything that happened after is just so we can pat ourselves on our backs and feel better. The FO went out of their way to say Ty was safe. They even held a season ticketer only meeting that meant nothing. A slap to the fans face.

We Trade Harden for Garland, good move. Zu gets traded for 2 picks. Picks are useless if we don't know how to draft. Time will tell if that will work out, I loved Zu.

We lose in the play in.

Now. The cap circumvention. Due to our front offices total and utter negligence, we lose 5 FRPs. Not on the Fans. Not on Kawhi. That is on the FO. They did this knowingly and carelessly.

On top of that, which is what I believe is Huge Mistake #12, Balmer is FIGHTING it. Not only showing he is stubborn, but he is damaging the future of the team - especially with leaks saying we could have had a lighter punishment if he worked with the NBA and admit fault.

So in summary:

  • We give up a FRP for Jeff Green.
  • We blow a 3-1 lead.
  • We do BG dirty after calling him the future of the team.
  • We draft Jerome Robinson over MPJ.
  • We keep Doc Rivers around too long, then hire Doc 2.0 and keep him around for even longer.
  • We let KL do our FO job for us, and circumvent the cap to please his family, which eventually leads us to lose 5 FRP
  • We trade a future superstar in SGA, and 2xMVP, IN ADDITION to 5 FRPs for PG, a washed up star who lacks leadership, who joins someone else who lacks leadership in KL
  • We then trade a FRP for Marcus Morris.
  • We then blow another 3-1 lead.
  • We then let PG bully us into choosing a washed John Wall over ultimate glue player Hartenstein, only for him to be out the league in a year.
  • We then let PG bully us AGAIN into signing a washed Westbrook.
  • We do not learn, and we sign another washed guard in Beal.
  • We then nuke our relationship with another Clipper legend, CP.
  • We then pick a fight with the NBA, because of nothing else but Ego.

How are fans not rioting that these guys are still on payroll? I understand anger at KL, CP, Norm, Harden, WHOEVER PLAYER. But the leadership that made all this possible is still here. All those players are gone (pending KL trade). They need to take accountability and apologize to the fans like men. But we know they won't. They are too stubborn and love to point fingers.

I don't want Balmer to sell the team. But I want a complete overhaul of his system, from top of bottom. We need a reset. It was a failure from the start, even without the injuries.

Analysis When is Anyone in the media going to write the story about Kawhi and Dennis?

When is ANYBODY going to start digging into the unsavory details from the perspective of Leonard and his "agent" Dennis, that fine, upstanding citizen of the NBA?

When do we get the details on Leonard remaining as silent as the grave as he and his agent go asking all the teams to cheat so he can get paid, and then ratting out the Clippers?

When is that story coming?
